    Thanks! My wife and I made the leap and bought this v600 off Amazon with a 84 in tripod screen(10'x12' basement setup). Lemme just say it's absolutely amazing at this price for a screen this size. The settings you recommended worked brilliantly! Great advice and help for newbies!

      I'll take that as a compliment although my integrity would not allow me to sell you that car unless it was meant to have 3 wheels. 😉
      My goal is just to set realistic expectations about what a product does or doesn't do well. That way people can decide whether it suits their needs or not.
      I've seen a few comments about quality control issues, so be aware that's a possibility. I didn't have any QC issues with mine.

    Hey Joe, a perfect review, right on the money and all the caveats well detailed. I have one of their units from, maybe, the last generation. Your review of this is nearly the exact review I would give my unit. The bonus is now I know I don't need to upgrade (same lens/focus/keystone issue, same color capabilities, same too loud fan.)
    I bought mine to put up stuff on the wall so I wouldn't be listening to music in the dark... But it turns out I love scale (in both speakers and images) and have rather enjoyed movies on it. It's far from a perfect picture, but for us old folks who used to go small theaters to watch obscure films etc, this is actually a comparatively great picture to that... things change....
    So thanks for the review and I dig your style, really solid, useful reviews. Cheers.

    I completely understand the knowledge of showing every detail in a scene whether it's a dark scene or light. Even though the 4k projector most probably shows those details much better, I've never minded loosing some detail in the dark scenes and showing more contrast. I actually prefer the cheaper projector images than the more expensive which seem to appear more washed out plus I love watching movies in complete darkness.

    Ive just ordered this for under £200, for 50000 hours at 1080p its a no brainer for gaming on a wall. I used projectors about 10 years ago and I paid £600 for a 1080p with about 3000 hours which is why I am looking for another to replace it. I think a projector is a great way to go since I have had tvs in the past that broke after a few years, and that was a £1500 tv, not cheap to just throw away.

    My only experience with cheap led projectors has been that their fans are loud and the lenses warp the image quite a lot.

    I have the V630 Performance and it’s amazing. It’s essentially the same price. But the fan doesn’t throw air out the back and they seemed to have fixed the lag and the corner/edge blur that some of the projectors had. I have it throwing onto a 150” screen at roughly 14 feet away. A tv will always be better than a projector if the room isn’t fairly dark so keep that in mind before you buy anything.

    The reason the green is strong is it likely uses a alternating pattern of red, green, blue, green for the LEDs. Every other pixel is green either vertically, or horizontally. This is also the pattern used by most sensors in digital cameras to capture better nature shots. The numbers you set up for the RGB values indicate it uses this pattern.

    The perfect review. Outstanding stuff.
    I picked up an old Casio projector with their LED/laser light engine. 1200 lumens and expected 20,000 hours for $80.00. It had 2000 hours on the counter. These can also be tweaked to give outstanding results. Their R&D into the light engine gives a unique high quality light source, must have absorbed millions of dollars/billions yen? Along with the DLP micromirror device we all know and good quality lens, these are amazing value. Some early units had issues with the Texas chip and failing mirrors. Get a good one and it will give you long service at 720p.

    Hola Amigo, i own TWO v600's. i sold my Vankyo Leisure 510 to buy the V600. its on a decent 110" Elite fixed frame. i am more than satisfied. Because for the price the picture is more than acceptable, no lamp to worry about, and uses a lot less energy than lamp projectors, so less heat in my HT room !
    U NEED TO KNOW : i have bought two (one for work presentations and one for my home HT. the picture was VERY different between the two. Is one defective or quality different between them because of low cost parts ? i dont know. but of course i kept the best for my HT.

      the two work perfectly fine. but one has a better picture. they both have same firmware version. so hard to explain why its different. maybe its just that the parts are not selected (discarding lower quality one from assembly line). but at that price it would make sense, they cant start discarding parts. but i still love my Vankyo V600, its a great projector ! so i would still buy it with no worry. i did a lot of research and everyone seems happy and i cant really find any reliability complaints.

    I got one very similar to this. When using Netflix, Google Play, Disney there is no volume at all to either the built in speaker or my external speakers, No matter how many times I delete the app or reinstall it on the projector itself it is always an older version to the phone applications. The only apps for me that have volume are Stan and TH-cam and Kay sports. Has anyone else experienced this problem with audio and app version on the projectors google store?

    • @ginsengjin
      @ginsengjin 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Unfortunately the fan on these things is to cool the LED light source which gets incredibly hot to produce that amount of brightness. The only way to quiet the fan would be to replace it with high flow dampened fans but often they're not as powerful as the blower fans (I know I tried to modify my projector). If you don't cool the projector enough, you risk burning out the LED bulb or worse, burning out the LCD screen in the projector which is the most expensive part in these projectors. To modify these things properly would probably require adding larger heat sinks and multiple fans.

    I would defiantly not recommend this projector for the money. The projector is not a real native 1080p projector it's more like a 720p with not so good colors. The projector also is not bright especially not ppt unless you have all of the lights off.

    • @joentell
      @joentell  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The colors aren't the best, but this is a native 1080p panel. I think this is about 450-600 ANSI lumens. I think the native 1080p makes it worth the $249 price.

    Vankyo sells more newer models in USA and old outdated garbage models in Canada. Example V700 or V630W or VF630T or VF620T (Newer models) are sold only in USA and not in Canada. What a partiality service that is Vankyo ???? By this Canadian customers are forced to only buy outdated models. I didnot buy V630 for its very high fan noise. Many had complaints with V630 for its fan noise.

    Let me tell you what this projector is really about. But before that, let me inform you that this review is way too positive for a product this crappy... Once we got this out of the way let us review this trash of a projector.
    1. The fan is LOUD, you are going to have a really hard time anjoying anything on any projector with a fan like this one. ONLY FOR HEADPHONE USERS.
    2. The optical elements are of really low quality (yes, I have dissasembled the thing) and the optical element responsible for keystone correction is made out of plastic. SAD...
    3. There is no compensation in focus when it comes to keystone projection. What that means is that this projector will only kind of be in focus only if it's completely centered to the projection screen.
    4.No. 3 leads me to this one... you are not going to get a crisp image... even if you align it perfectly with the projection screen, the corners won't be in focus.
    5. No.3 again. If you try to project on any angle using keystone correction the whole image gets extremely blurry. UNACCEPTABLE!
    6. Regarding No.3... there is no way you can mount it anywhere because it MUST be at the center of the projection screen, centered width and height wise!
    Look, I already have bought 2 projectors in my life (3 with this chinese one), the one costed me 650 euros and got burnt in a fire (along with the house, but the projector didn't have anything to do with it :D) and the other one costed me 1600 euros (Epson EH-TW7200). I know what a proper projector should look like. I know what is barely acceptable and what is definetely not... This piece of trash shouldn't be sold... and if it did, it should cost under 100 euros...
    MY ADVICE:
    Please... go and buy an Epson, BenQ, Optoma or some other reputable brand with decent optics and engineering... This chinese product isn't a cheap alternative, it's a different product altogether...
    Nowadays you can get reputable Full HD projector for 450 bucks or something. Those 200 bucks less aren't worth it... Get something decent and enjoy your content.
    Before I go... this channel has my dislike for presenting a really bad product for a decent one. You should be honest with your viewers and not missleading them.

      @joentell  5 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      I said all of the things you mentioned in my video. Every single one. Maybe your difference of unacceptable is different than mine. I even started off the video saying that it isn't better than my BenQ and showed examples.
      Next time you feel like offering something, maybe try making your own video instead of making a long post trying to bash MY opinion which I stand by.

    • @slow-moe3518
      @slow-moe3518 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You said it yourself, they are different products. People looking for a cheap projector are not going to be trying to get the best quality. And on the other end of the spectrum, people looking for quality are not going to buy a 250 dollar projector.
      It's like telling people "Hey, the Toyota Yaris is not the greatest car. It has bad acceleration. It doesn't have a lot of horse power. It uses cheap materials. Go buy a Ford GT." It doesn't make any sense.
