MUSIC: El Baile De Los Andes by Pangal & Gana LONG-TERM CAMP: This is the third/final video at the long-term winter camp. We set it up on the previous trips if you missed them. AUDIO: Something went wrong with the mic on the main cam for a bunch of shots (muffled, a few times recorded nothing). Used the action cam more than usual too and the DJI action 3 mics suck. Did my best to salvage it at home but some clips just don't sound right...sorry about that. Also got the worst piece of sensor dust of all time on day 6 🤦♂ But the best of the winter is yet to come. 10-day adventure next.
The music is great and reminds me of Iohan Gueorguiev's soundtrack selection when he was bikepacking through the South American snow. Some of the finest soundtrack work ever done on TH-cam, sadly it ran into copyright issues even though he was using it under license and I don't know if you can find it now, but the soundtrack music was Inti Illimani.
Hey John! Wicked video once again!! I watched it last night and now just read your comment here. I never noticed anything wrong with the sound you edited it all perfectly!👌 the skating was fun to watch and awesome job with the drone shots!! Very cool👍
The overhead shots of the shoveling/igloo were awesome. Erin's persistence and determination building was also something to behold. You guys are great.
Erin really did an awesome job building and going solo in the igloo. Her chopping and splitting wood skills are second to none not to mention her ability to pull you from an icy death Jon. Easy choice to marry her! Great episode and editing as always. Nice work Erin!
John, you struck Gold with Erin. You two make a great team. You love your adventures wherever you go together. May God bless and always keep you safe. Thanks for sharing with us.
Yall are badass. For whatever reason I really gravitate toward your winter camping content. It’s a whole vibe. The fire cracking, the snow crunching, animal signs, nature’s glory and everything in between. Also awesome to see Jon’s skills as a filmmaker develop and grow. And Erin as always is adorable.
Amazing video! You two are such an adorable couple and work so well together and skate well too! Pro hockey technique. That was fun watching you both skate on the lake! Nice igloo! And such incredible beautiful scenery, editing & music , and the sound of that awesome ice cracking Wow! That is so cool! Phenomenal video!!
Hard to explain how it feels to move from the intro into the start of a Lost Lakes story to the uninitiated. Always a privilege guys - thank you from Australia
I never get tired of hearing the ice popping in these videos. Such an intense sound. I wouldn’t sleep a wink if it was going on around me all night long! The igloo was so freaking cool. I know that was a crap ton of work, well done hanging in there both of you! The sense of accomplishment was well worth it I’m sure. I was shocked when you got on top of it! So cool. Great video, thanks!
You know it's a cold climate when -5 is "cozy". Another spectacular adventure Jon and Erin - thanks for taking us along, and for all your effort with the editing too.
Congratulations you guys!!!! Such an amazing episode!! I love Erin. AND John, of course. The overall quality of the entire video is hands down as good as an y studio quality production. You two are GREAT together. ❤ Thank you for sharing
Your channel is the reason I winter camp. I would have never even considered it. You take the the risk out of it by showing how to do it without dying. Thank you.
What a cool trip! That shot of the glowing blue igloo on the lake at night with the stars overhead was mesmerizing , and the (Peruvian?) flute music really lent a fitting touch to the picturesque scenes. Bravo to Erin for her resilience in not giving up on the igloo build and the sense of adventure in soloing overnight in it, twice! You two are renegades! 👏🏼
What a tremendous achievement! Congratulations on those two BEAUTIFUL structures. Both so artistically crafted and landscaped too! 😄 I was thinking that unfinished one was a perfect ice fishing wind break too, glad you got to use it, even if you didn't catch anything. I sure would want to spend a bunch of nights in the completed igloo too if I had worked that hard on it. What a fun week! Thank you for taking us along. 🏕
I just ❤ all of your videos!!! Especially those with John & Erin. You two are living the dream & there are so many of us that appreciate you sharing the experiences. 🥰😊
So happy to see Erin again! Absolutely love the channel, Jon! But adore your videos together. 😊 one day I’ll prioritize my craving to be outdoors with my doggos over work. In the meantime, I’ll live vicariously through you two. Thanks so much for sharing your adventures! ❤
Erin is such a joy. Her drive and focus without which you never would have built the igloo. I’m with you Jon - quihnzee. Made one in Algonquin with the kids when they were young. Worked great but -30° - helped it sinter fast. Loved the drone “art” shots and cracking ice was a new one. Finally a dose of winter in a season of 💩. Thanks to both of you. 🤗
Erin & you are one determined couple & I give you so much respect for completing that igloo 👍 way to go. With that kind of determination you guy's can do anything you put your minds to. 😉 😊
What an awesome episode! Erin, incredible job on the igloo. Imagine somebody coming along and finding it. No way they pass up spending a night in there. Jon- nice job feeding the wood stove and reading in the warm tent.
Really a great trip! The ice sounds, which most have never heard, the igloo building, the night photography, a first class production. Thanks so much for sharing the beauty of winter in northern Ontario. !
I rarely watch a video that is this long and I must say I was totally captivated by your entire trip! Although my knees ached just thinking about being out in those temps lol
Erin's persistence pays off! Finally igloo success! Then to sleep it total commitment. Like having your own private mini ice hotel as they do in Quebec City. Kept thinking she was really braving it, especially with no bag o'scotch 😥. Now im just waiting for the game cam lynx footage, next time forsure, third times the charm!
This was extrodinary beautiful to watch. First of all you are such a sweet couple and watching you two together makes me smile. hearing those ice sounds is unbelievable. I´ve never heard that before, sound sureal! And you really made that trip like a holiday out of a dream: Ice skating, exploreing, fishing, building an iglu and sleep in it, hunting chaga, .... What an adventure!! Thanks a lot for sharing that with us, Jon and Erin.
Great one! Loved it! You married a great one my man! Had a really good laugh when Erin said (i hope Jon is gonna be ok in the hot tent tonight) 😂 That's one tough Chick!
Been watching for a few years now. I’ve watched other channels, but I keep coming back to yours. Love it. Keep up the good work and stay away from Xander.
After how many seasons, you folks finally got that igloo made: awesome! I'm sure it's warmer than an arctic tent with a coleman stove. Once again, I noticed a few Army surplus items that Erin uses. That sleeping bag weights a ton but it does a great job of keeping you warm.
The igloo is quite a feat! And so fun to watch! Did you cover over the entrance to the igloo as you slept?! I find your adventures so soothing to watch! You both are so calming! Thank you for sharing! ( and the lake sounds?!? There No way I’d sleep!!)
WOW! I have traveled quite a bit in my younger days, seen some beautiful country in the Yukon and beyond, and I tried in vain to capture the astonishing beauty of so many experiences, but my lord you’ll take it to another level, thank you for sharing your adventures with us! I’m 65 now, done a whole lot in my youth, only problem I have now is the only evidence exists in my memories, which isn’t bad mind you, just more difficult to share. So again, thank you for sharing such beauty! Oh I too have built a few igloos and yes it’s tricky
Amazing! Erin is way better at chopping the wood than Xander will ever be😂. Mad skills lady. The aerial of the igloo reminded me of Art Attack. If you know, you know👏🏼❤
Hello Jon and Erin. Congratulations on your igloo build! I watched the igloo-building portions of your video with special interest and, as I saw the first layer being built, I wished I could have been there to warn you about a problem with your anchor spike. Part of the reason your transition between layers was difficult was that your spike was raised (possibly as much at 5" off the surface of the ice in a mound of snow you piled up to hold it in place. The center spike should be set into the snow (or in this case, the ice) at the same height as the bottom of the first layer of blocks. That discrepancy would have thrown off the three-dimensional geometry. In future, if you are building on ice, chop a small narrow hole in the ice where the spike will be set, pour in some water and loose snow, and then wait for the spike to freeze into place. This will ensure that the spike and bottom of the first layer are on the same level. The other reason you were experiencing gaps was that you were filling the form with snow all the way up to the top. For both the 8' and 9" igloo builds, the form should NOT be filled all the way up, but rather 1" to 2" from the top, otherwise the walls climb too high (and then lean in too soon), all of which again deviates from the desired catenary arch shape and results in those gaps between the inside wall of the lower block and the inside panel of the form. With all that said, however, that gap you showed is not that uncommon and can happen even when everything is done correctly. The way to deal with it is for the form-handler to cram a mittened hand under the inside panel of the form and block the hole up as much as possible while the shoveler drops in a lot of snow, essentially choking the opening with a lot of snow, which is then packed. No doubt, something like that is what you did to deal with those gaps, so good on you both for working it out. Hope this helps, and kudos to you and Erin on your perseverance! Cheers, - Martin
Thanks a lot Martin! That was so frustrating as we thought we were so careful but makes good sense now. I think we're finally through the worst of the learning curve 😅
Thanks for your feedback! After the first one didn’t line up I was wondering if the centre piece being slightly elevated was part of the issue. It seemed so minor that I dismissed the idea but hearing you explain it I understand how it would impact each subsequent level. It’s a fascinating tool, I enjoy learning how it works and it feels satisfying to finally have succeeded with one. Thanks again for the insights!
I appreciate the time and effort you enjoy the overhead visuals enough to re shovel and reshoot. I’ve done similar things that no one has seen but only for my self gratification. Nice to know I’m not the only “weirdo” amoung us.
I can watch this all day, every day! Love the views, the sounds, the serenity, almost as if I was right there. Love the editing and music too, nice touch! Thanks for sharing guys! ❤
So happy to see Erin. Marriage looks good on her. The igloo was so cool! I can't believe she slept out there alone.. I'm such a scaredy cat! I'd have been thinking about Lynx, wolves, or a bear trying to get in that igloo..lol. You two are so blessed to have found each other.
Somewhere under his breath there is an Inuit elder giggling. I admire however the persistence you both have. I wish I was there with both you lucky ones
Absolutely Amazing Totally Awesome video. The very best. Totally worth all the work you both put in to build that beautiful great Igloo. ❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️☃️🌬️🌨️🤗💕
The igloo was amazing! As always, beautifully filmed and I loved the choice of music - perfect! It always makes me happy when you upload a new video. Thank you Jon and Erin :)
I've been told a picture is worth a thousand words while a story is worth a thousand pictures. Having watched your story telling get better and better over the years I now find that your stories are worth even more! I aspire to become a better storyteller after watching what you've created! The kitesailing part was very interesting to me. I use to do some in the winter on land using a small land kite along with either a snowboard, a set of downhill skiis or when snow was absent, a dirt surfer. It can be a bunch of fun but after wiping out at 68 km/hour body armour is a good thing to have! Thanks again for sharing the story. Delightful!
Glad to hear that my buddy! I know exactly your mindset, and TH-cam sometimes throws you some weird numbers, but sometimes you gotta say, FU YT, I'm sticking to my guns!! 🙂 lol. I had the same thing with my last video. Take care buddy!!@@LostLakes
I dreamt of sleeping in an igloo as a child..and Erin got to for real. Now that’s a compliment ❤ Bravo❤ Nothing better than women achieving their goals 🎉
Some beautiful cinematography here--as usual! Is there a new camera in play? Some of those 'nature' shots at 16:00-18:00 are sooo crisp! Great work, and it looks like you two had a BLAST!
Wow, that igloo is just the coolest thing ever! Great job. Love the night pictures with it lit up. Years ago I tried on our lawn to build one with the same type of block making system. Couldn't do it, gave up. Erin's cement experience has to be an asset for a project like that. Just awesome.
Another adventure through which we live outdoors vicariously with the most awesome of partners! I feel like I’m living in a narrated story art exhibit, your own unique art form, a phrase which I only use to describe what you do.

haha same here 👊👊
I know right?!❤
Exactly what happened here😂💪✌
Every time too
I do that with all the folks I subscribe to. If they earned my sub, im down
I fight with my wife when we assemble an IKEA chair. I can’t imagine building an igloo with her 😂. Great work guys!
Hahah I found this tool to be like the most frustrating IKEA build ever. Thankfully Erin has more patience
damn she slept on the ice, mad respect.
The overhead shots of the shoveling/igloo were awesome. Erin's persistence and determination building was also something to behold. You guys are great.
Great determination on the igloo Erin👏🎉.Guys the content was awesome the filming and drone is outstanding.
So much wholesomeness here

That igloo is amazing! Looked so awesome with the blue light showing through at night. Great choice of music and wonderfully filmed…. As always.

This is great fun to watch, but gotta say the most Canadian thing I've ever witnessed! Cheers
It would be so nice if my wife would enjoy camping all year round. I enjoy all your videos and watch them over and over.
Could you imagine getting your wife to go out in -30 to build an igloo on a frozen lake.
So do I!! Especially the canoeing / fishing ones!!
I wish my husband wanted to do these adventures.
Definitely, it was an experience of the "joys of winter!"

The statement from Erin hope Jon isn't too uncomfortable inside the tent with his big stove. Lol. Super shots of night time igloo.
So much fun. Thanks for having me along Jon, and Erin. My favourite part is when you both on your way to work. I couldn't stop laughing.
Awesome!!! Erin’s personal Pantheon!!!! 👍😃

Erin is a keeper. Loved this video.
Thanks again for the insights!
What a wonderful experience for you both. Glad you took me along with you both thank you.
If it were me my favorite part was the Ice skating. Im an old bird and I miss it. Glad to see you guys had so much fun.
I love this channel.
I appreciate the time and effort you enjoy the overhead visuals enough to re shovel and reshoot.
I’ve done similar things that no one has seen but only for my self gratification.
Nice to know I’m not the only “weirdo” amoung us.
I’m not alone 😊
I so enjoyed this one. Wtg Erin, loved the igloo. Thanks for sharing this awesome trip!!

Cool! Shots at 1:19 blew me away. Thanks for sharing the great experience
Simply beautiful
It never ceases to amaze me that you guys always seem to have the lakes all to yourself...so lucky you have all that wilderness to play in!
I normally prefer solo trips, but you and Erin have changed my view. She has to be 1 in a billion!
Love the vibe! It seems so easy when we watch it on television 😅 stay warm 🤙🏻
Great show loved the igloo and what a nice way to find peace in all seasons.
Absolutely loved watching you both building this igloo Fabulous job and experience
Such a pleasure to watch 🥰
The igloo was amazing! As always, beautifully filmed and I loved the choice of music - perfect! It always makes me happy when you upload a new video. Thank you Jon and Erin :)

Delightful!
Thank you NE! It could make for some brutal wipeouts, especially if there's not much snow on the ice
You two make a great team. Great perseverance with the igloo. Another awesome video
awesome film!

I am so glad you posted the musical performer. I just kept thinking how perfect the music was for this video.
Such fantastic camera work, I come here to help rewind before sleep but I am always so invested in seeing the video through!!! ❤
Well done.
Thanks, Jon and Erin, that was so awesome. Stunning pics. I really enjoyed your Winter Campout.
your cinematography has improved so much!! the drone shots are what really keeps me hooked
Thank you so much!
