Thanks so much for letting me see my old childhood church where I became a believer. I used to go to Unity Temple when Elder (Bishop) Harmon was there. I am 60 years old and used to live on Madison Street. I learned to play the drums at Unity Temple. I believe my mother was the initial announcer on, I believe, one of our first radio broadcasts on WWRL (I think). @Cory I met you here in Richmond VA years ago when you were in Sam Ashe practicing for what I believe was a funeral.
Nice to hear this raw, foundational background about Cory. Been watching for quite a few years now. One of the best early clips of him playing "Thank you Lord" by the Hawkins was when he had a red sweater on at the Hammond. One of the smoothest interpretations that is a true masterpiece of improvisations ever recorded. He was not world renown then as he is now, but those days were a video launching board which helped spin things off positively. Truly creative with a phenomenal ear.

Yeah bro I feel cause this how I came up too! Shout out to my grandparents Pastor District Elder Willie Nelson Sr and Mother Bettie Nelson who actually got me started playing in church! She directed the choir and would stop you mid song if you was singing it right or playing it right!!! She didn’t play about serving God and would check you if you wasn’t!!! Lol! RIP to both them!!!!

There is nothing like remembering your roots! Your Foundation! Where you came from!!!! Particulalry one's Spiritual foundation which sustains us admist being in this world, but not of it!!!!!!! Cory....I just have no words to express what God is, has done, and will continue to do through your musical anointing/ministry!!!!!! Regardless as to what some Church Folk may say! There is nothing more devestaing as Church Hurt! It is God, The Creator of all that is seen and unseen, who is directing and ordering your steps! He knows, He sees, and He cares! Someone has to be bold enough to Go!!!!!!!!! And I thank you for being His Light and Salt, particularly in this music industry! God says to Go.......into the marketplace and do what the Holy Spirit is leading and guiding you to do! My beloved brother, you stay encouraged! In God's perfect timing, all will be revealed (if it ha not already been revelaed to you) as to why you were chosen for this journey!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you for sharing this video!
