To give some context for 1:38, there are a lot of monasteries (Lhakhangs) on mountain tops near Paro valley, so its customary for any Buddhist to be praying when going past it.
I know nothing about piloting. What I see is you need to turn inside the plateau while been very close to the mountains to approach the runway in the right direction and just for kickers the final approach is even closer to the terrain an you need to take it while turning! damn. that place is so full of sacred spots the co-pilot was giving reverence while doing her job. The captain, man I would like her to be in every flight I take. I got goosebumps jut by looking at that landing.
These 2 ladies really showed an outstanding performance 👍 ! Comparing with clips from other approaches on RWY 15 as published on your channel, to me it even appears they did a slightly more gentle approach wrt the final right - left S-turn. The initial panorama view right at the beginning with Paro airport at 11 o’clock and same time the summits in the back in same direction is stunning, too. According to the map, I'd expect those are Kula Kangri and Gangkar Puensum then - ? Or is it just clouds playing tricks on me?
I passenger flew about a thousand times all across North America, Hawaii, Asia, Europe, Australia, NZ,the most tricky landings among the Norwegian Fjords, Flight Captain Ugyen Dema just demonstrated the most perfect, truly safe flight manoeuvrers I have ever experienced. A shining example of real woman power and dedication! Thank you, Capt.Ugyen,it was delighting to observe you completing this utterly difficult landing.😊😇😘 Warmest greetings to you from Germany !!!
Yup.....that worries me too.........NO situational awareness there......and why is she wearing that long sleeved thing that could catch on thrust levers etc...???
@@steinrich56 It's common practice for the pilots to pray when flying into this airport, search other videos of the same approach and you'll see. Plus, I'm certain that the sweater she's wearing is approved by the airline. To say it could "catch on the thrust levers" even while the captain has her hand on them during the entire approach sequence is laughable.
@@marcg3752 maybe -but I have to say to me it looked like a captain with a passive observer in the right seat; didn't seem focused or calling out or engaged etc as a PNF usually is/does
@@malcolmwhite6588 I believe she was doing exactly what she was supposed to as the PNF. Watch the video she is communicating and making adjustments to the autopilot as needed. This is not a standard landing and the captain is hand flying utilizing visual reference points/landmarks for this approach. This is not a regular stabilized approach into an normal airport and I don't believe any captains need to here a bunch on "hey look at this" when landing there. This is why she is sitting there quiet and doing what she does. I'm more inclined to believe you see her as not engaged because she doesn't look like the standard airline pilot.
@@malcolmwhite6588the captain was flying manually, I don’t know what you expect the PNF to be doing when there’s no automation even involved.. other than resetting the QNH like she was
Good job!!! Overflying that house on short final at 100ft RA… WOW !!! 😻 But why don’t they have terrain on ND? And why is the F/O looking at the landscape outside the side window ? 😳
Looking outside for visual height checks as this is a visual approach, for the ND on- the GPWS terrain system was turned off (you would know if you watched the whole video) which is a common practice for approaches into paro ! 😊
WOW!!! How calm and cool these 2 ladies illustrated 😎😍. It requires a lot of skilful flying and discipline to go nap-of-the-earth stuff especially in a passenger jet ✈️🙏
👏👏👏🌺🌺 Wonderful approach and also a very soft landing! I find this airport already very delicate a flight simulator (MSFS 2020) ... And I see that reality is something else!
Would be interesting to monitor the heart rate of both pilot and copilot during the approach phase until touchdown. I know that for any landing or departure phases, heart rate of pilots and copilots are raising. But in such dangerous approach, it should be even impressive.
That very competent Captain seemed to be channelling Melinda May of Marvel's Agents of SHIELD, (a.k.a. The Cavalry) as she brought her A319 in for an incredibly perfect and faultless landing! Brilliant skills many pilots do not have.
Amongst the most dangerous approaches in the world swinging between hills which loom high on both sides of you...thrilling experience even for the passengers in a window seat
That approach is something! Absolutely stunning job!
To give some context for 1:38, there are a lot of monasteries (Lhakhangs) on mountain tops near Paro valley, so its customary for any Buddhist to be praying when going past it.
Thanks for the explanation! Saw that and wondered if she does that on every landing?
i did not know, thanks for info
Great show. Captain shows her experience and confidence with landing at this airstrip. Keep it up.
Not so surprising as Bhutanese women are very capable. Nevertheless a very proud aviation moment for Bhutan. Great job ladies!
I have flown some “doozies” in my days, but none like this one. Well done Ladies! 💐
Wow, she knows what she is doing here! A fantastic job!
Wonderful descent, fantastic approach and beautiful landing.
Thanks for watching and for the kind words!
Wow, what skill and confidence! Only respect! 🙏🙇
What an incredible approach!! Absolutely amazing!
Capt Ugyen Dema knows the ropes!
Beautiful skill and composure under tight approach! 👍👍
Great approaching & landing. Well done Captain. Keep up the good work both.
This is nothing short of absolutely amazing! SO IMPRESSIVE and GREAT JOB ma'ams! Cannot say enough!

Fabulous video, remarkable clarity, much enjoyed !
Incredible landing ladies
Best I have ever seen!!!
Beautiful landing. Pilot flying is very confident and relaxed which is the hallmark of a true professional. Happy Landings.
Calm, Confident, Competent, Well done Pilots for a truly professional landing.
This wonderful Captain nailed both the approach and the landing like an Ace, even better than several men Captains I've seen before!

Well done ladies......what an awesome landing approach and piloted professionally by two cool ladies pilots!😎👍👋
Respect to you Capt,be safe all the time!
At 1:35, the co-pilot says her prayers.
Crossed herself, respect 1:38
Excellent job! This can only be done by hand, and I assume this route and approach is strictly VMC only?
You are absolutely right, Paro Airport is VMC only!
Who cares all female crew? I don't care who the pilots are, I just want them to fly safely. So sick of having to make a big deal out of gender.
People are obsessed with it. It’s all by feelings, but insensitive to other’s opinions.

WOW! Awesome job by an amazing crew!! BZ!!
Brilliant stuff. Captain was definitely in control. She can pilot my plane anytime. I would have her anytime in control of my flight.
amazing approach and landing.👋👋👋👋

That is the most amazing approach I have ever seen. It would be safge to assume the flight is postponed during inclement weather?
Great skill
Chapeau!
Are you kidding me? That is an insane approach.
perfect ladies!
They makes this saver then a male crew.
I guess that folks are more impressed with female pilots than I am.

Smooth as despite a bumpy air strip.
Even in good weather that is a tough approach...
