I have the Arlo 4k Ultra cams and love them. I did the solar panels on all the cameras so no need to charge. Great video as always

Arlo Ultras are definitely the unsung hero - I might have to consider the solar panels. Actually I just got a camera sent to me that has the panels built right into the camera. Have a great Thanksgiving!

My problem with arlo is, when it is connected with power, it starts recording from 4 seconds before the event. When on solar or no power, it only starts recording when the motion is detected. Many a times, it is very helpful to see the event right before when it triggered the motion for better context. Something I was looking for in comparison but never found anyone talking about it in any videos.

    • @shanew7361

Yea the lag between the event occurring and actually seeing it is a joke. Did you find an ecosystem, camera that works?

@@miralpatel2877 Debating on getting 2-4 cameras. I need one for the front and back yard. Front of house faces north, south side gets back sun exposure. However, I live in MI and it gets -30F in the winter and no sun. I have outlets outside. Suggestions on a brand or brands that would work for my concerns. No lag between movements, leaves blowing creating false alerts, sunlight making the camera unable to see. I'd prefer not drilling holes through my home or walls but ideally no batteries to change outside etc.

The only thing about nest cameras is the battery is internal? The arlo and ring cameras have pop in pop out batteries. Easy if you ask me. Not sure what the procedure is for battery removal of the nest cameras. It looked like the batteries that cordless landline phones use to have. Oh and also you gotta remove the whole entire camera to charge the battery for nest cameras.

I just purchased the google camera because of the expandable options.I have the google nest thermostat,Google hub and nest speakers. Also the google camera does face recognition. If it’s someone who comes over often it will tell you your mom or neighbor is at the front door. I also like the fact that google doesn’t use a traditional light to record so no one sees it when it comes on at night time.

Unfortunately Arlo performance sucks. It’s motion detection is pretty terrible and the lag when you try to load a video or live stream is god awful. I’ve ran Arlo for the past few years and ordered the newest set and sent it right back. Went with the Nest because it actually works. Picture isn’t quite as good but its fine for detecting trespassers and whatever else.

4k is no good if your cameras don't trigger I am selling my arlo ultra 4k as to record in 4k you need to pay a hefty subscription £8.99 then if you want 24/7 cvr plan another 12.99 and it Drops resolution to 2k . The 4k claim is rubbish on my arlo ultra can't even read number plates . I can get 24/7 recording on my Google doorbell and as many cameras as I like all in for £9.99 and it saves 60 days of footage unlike arlo 12.99 for 14 days and 19.99 for 30 days on 1 camera !!!!

  • @EsotericArctos
    @EsotericArctos 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

There is a lot more to the story than just how the cameras look. The difference in field of view is not really dependent on resolution . There are 4K cameras that have very narrow field of view, there are 1080 camera's with wider fields of view. Unfortunately this video is a bit misleading and misses a lot of information, such as sensitivity, how many events are missed or how many false positives and the all important battery life. If you have a battery camera up in that slightly awkward spot, you don't want to be up there every 2 weeks charging it. The big thing is, however, resolution and FOV (field of view) are completely different things.

Why not test the google nest cam iQ outdoor? It has 12x zoom (instead of 8x) and enhanced zoom with 4K. It’s in the same price range as the arlo ultra 2. The view range is still only 130 degrees instead of 180 (arlo). And the video is 180, not 4K (arlo). But the zoom and features are much much better.
A base station (arlo) does complicate things.

      I like your point
I use eufy solo cams on deer feeders that are 200 to 300 yards from the Hughes net wifi in my kitchen
They work great at that distance
I have 3 of the 4g eufy battery cameras set up 40 miles away and they are great . I get 2 gig of data for $10 a month on the eiot club SIM cards
I got an arlo go 2 cellular and wifi camera just to compare to the eufy
So far it seems good and has strong battery life that can be recharged by solar same as the eufy cameras
A big difference is on the arlo you have to sign up for the 4.99 a month program to get full benefits of cameras
I have several cellular trail cameras there data plans are 12 to 15 a month and do not transfer video clips and don’t allow live view . The Trail cameras will triggerat up to 100 feet.
The eufy and arlo seem to max trigger at about 60 feet.
