That was so hard to watch. If only there had been a backup plan. It looked like if he had just kind of remained calm (yeah right), and then hung on to that line while they rigged a secondary line and sent someone out to him, or got a chopper to lower a line to him, he probably would have come out of it ok.

@@DizzyME13 You're right! In fact, I recently asked a (disaster channel) podcaster if he used an AI generated voice and he answered w/a question:
Why would he (who has a NZ accent) use an AI generated voice w/a NZ accent? I haven't a clue what he's insinuating except that he must think NZ accents are the last thing people want to hear but besides that, if any of these podcasters use one (and that's their prerogative if they do) and they don't think there's anything wrong w/it then they should have no problem telling viewers when they're asked if they do.
"Disasterthon" is one channel who informs his viewers he doesn't use an AI generated voice. I'm glad because I find myself more distracted trying to figure out if I'm listening to one or not on these channels.

Jonathon’s car stunt was just ignorant. If he was only practicing for the actual event, there was no reason to arm the cars with explosives and have them released at 30 seconds. If you’re practicing, then you know there’s a chance you don’t have it right yet. You don’t need the danger aspect to be real. How stupid.

3rd one is really bizarre. Watching him not having the core strength to reach the cable with his feet is buffling. Why atempt these stunts if you are so physically weak ? Reaching for the cable would have saved him. Reminds me of the case of that kid doing pull ups in the edge of a skyscraper , only problem he was weak as fuck and couldnt do even 5 pull ups and failed to climb back...
The only one that i felt bad was about Pavel. As a parkour athlete myself jumping from roofs is familiar but a backflip on the edge.....another level...All the preperations in the world cant prepare you for that. 16 stories no matter the ground training you have done locks your body. You may believe you can do it but your body has a thought of its own , tries to protect its self.. fear along with winds on that height is something you must not challenge..Even for Pavel.

Idk if this is obvious to everyone else but it wasn’t until I was an adult for a while that I realized the Human Cannonball is a facade; it’s not ejecting someone via explosive pressure in the barrel, it’s just a phony visual “explosion” and the person is propelled via a giant spring or similar soft launch mechanism.

As a paraplegic for the last 26 of my 51 years from a diving accident, I cant imagine anyone doing anything now that could possibly cost you your ability to walk...or more. Normal life itself is full of enough danger without making your own. I know we cant go through life scared of everything but just slow down ask yourself if its worth it to you and just as important, to your family before taking a chance. In the case of Todd the wing walker, the lack of some kind of safety line with a release mechanism could have prevented it.

It’s difficult to comprehend any desire to perform , frankly, ANY of the stunts featured in this episode…
The Fair also exhibits the slippers of a tight wire artist who successfully performed long ago; and the suits and photos of “human cannonball” performers, members of a family.

' Something went terribly wrong' , how surprising! What is it that drives those willing to risk their lives for the thrill of climbing Everest, or in these cases perform acts of dare -devil? At some point ego must take over, the roar of the crowds, the acclaim.
In one way it's a shame they hadn't done something more down to earth ( pun intended) to leave their mark on humanity, charity work for example. Yet their willingness to push the boundaries and put their lives on the line transfixes us sensible mortals.
I can't believe how stupid they are, yet I admire their passion for ' living life to the full'.

The answer is in your question

    • @MikeGreenwood51
      @MikeGreenwood51 หลายเดือนก่อน

In my youth I would have jumped at the chance of climbing Everest. In days when I seemed to have more vitality, a fully loaded battery (battery life) and no fear or respect for seriously iccy cold freezing tempretures. But now I am closer to seventy than sixty and living has shown me why I needed to know how savage the cold, wind and blizzards can be. Some 20 years ago I tried snow holeing at altitude in The Alps the night. Was I glad when that night was over. I suppose things started at school aged eleven to twelve when I was taught adventure trainning. The trainning bit didn't really exist as we would be sent out in to the forests or hills with a backpack, compass and map. All great times and considered at the time to be great fun. The challenges of the bigger boys who got to go futher afeild for say the whole week was always a lure. They ran across a high building beam and I was wanting to also. Going yachtng and I wished I had gone. Then during the years near my middle teens I read the book 'Everest'(Nothing Ventured Nothing Gained') by Sir Edmond Hillery. A man of a former era when such asents were the adventures of heros. You had the whole Nation supposedly behind you and his book certainly capured a spirit that enthralled me. 'The Higher the Mountain The Better' was not my motto but that was how it seemed. I was up and down mountains for years on and off skis. There came a time when I chased the dream of joining our National Ski team. That was when I learnt about age and being too old. Age changes the perspectives. Gone are the days when fearlessness meant you .....................meant you were not really like a rubber bouncy ball but you were not afraid heights. After all, snow is soft or soft under a thin Ice crust. So it's not like falling on concreat. Anyway. Back in the sixties I think our whole school was being trained for adventure. So I supposed that is how it comes about that some got that way. It is because some one puts the spirit (encoragement) in to the child at an early age. The teachurs could have been equally negative and a person could turn out to be afraid of playing Rugby or even football.

They push risks to the limits for fame, money, self admiration, etc They have no GENUINE concern for their family and friends who will either suffer from their death or have to then take care of them being disabled. Imagine the time, work, effort, money, and other resources now having to be put into these people that had a death wish

I disagree. I think it’s just part of the human condition to do crazy stuff. If it wasn’t, we never would be where we are today without people taking risks and venturing into the unknown. Some people just need to live on the edge to feel alive and that’s ok.. as long as no innocents are taken out with them when stuff gets dire.

His friend didn't capture his fall from the angle he stood but it didn't take away from the absolute horror he did capture on his phone and all you could hear is him yelling NO NO NO NO...
