I have to say it mate, seeing this video reminded me of On The Road by Jack Kerouac. It is nicely put together, nicely narrated and very moving. It was a great honor to hear how your mate feels about Mexico. Tell him there is another friend in this country he can add to his list and same goes to you. I salute you The Magnificent World of Toys. May you keep on growing, cultivating and promoting love, peace and knowledge through these very, ´´insignificant´´, plastic made things. May you and your family be forever blessed! 🙏
Hey Roger, I'm planning my very first trip to Japan, and I couldn't be more excited! Like you, I've always dreamed of visiting after being inspired by video games and movies. Your channel is awesome, especially with all the nostalgic toys you feature-it really brings back memories. What are some of your favorite spots in Tokyo? Also, I was curious, what kind of camera do you use to film your videos? Thanks, and keep up the amazing work!
Hi! First of all thank you for watching and I’m glad you enjoy the content. I’d say Nakano Broadway was my favorite spot and that’s primarily because that is where I spent most of my time when shopping. What little I saw of Akihabara was fantastic as well but you really need to dedicate a few days to really get the most out of it. I only visited the Mandarake store and a few other shops which I don’t remember their names. I have been using a Red Komodo and a Panasonic GH4 lately but I also occasionally use a Sony fs-700u and Panasonic af100. My earlier videos I would use a Canon 7d as well. I’m happy you enjoy my content. I plan to crank out a lot more good stuff in 2025!
@@TheMagnificentWorldofToys I completely agree with you about Nakano Broadway-it's such a hidden gem with endless treasures to discover. I can see how easy it would be to spend hours there! Akihabara is definitely a place I want to dive deeper into next time to fully explore everything it has to offer. By the way, I’d love to hear more about the thrift toy stores you visited. Any particular spots or finds that really stood out to you? I'm always on the lookout for good deals! Your gear setup is really impressive! The Red Komodo and GH4 are both excellent choices. I personally shoot with the GH5 and recently upgraded to the Lumix S5iiX. I actually came across your content while researching Japan itineraries, but what really caught my attention was how you focus on toys-that’s such a unique angle! I recently made a video about a Texas toy museum, and my usual content revolves around travel, but I had no idea there was such a dedicated community that films, reviews, and dives into the history of toys. It’s fascinating! I’ve been really enjoying your content, and I’m excited to see what you’ve got lined up for 2025. Keep up the awesome work!
Thank you! I’m glad you found me lol! The thrift stores are known as Hard Off or Book Off. From my understanding there are several all over Japan. They range in size. Some are the size of a regular store while others are full on complexes. The one we visited was in Hachioji.
I’m currently working a warehouse job, slowly preparing and saving for a trip to Japan, hopefully traveling around October as well. Excited and intimidated at the same time. Hopefully all goes well. Content like this is inspiring me further. Thank you.
Congratulations and much respect for your hard work and bravery. I have not been yet, but I’ve heard it can be overwhelming if you cannot speak a little Japanese and do not know anyone. But buddy…it is soooo worth it! 🫡
My heart flutters seeing all those iconic, yet exotic toys at the Broadway shop. Everything I’ve ever dreamt of. 🙏🏼 So happy you got to experience this first hand.
Love it! Can feel your emotions through this video. Amazing! Appreciate all the effort bringing contents we love in this channel. Looking forward for more in 2025!
Omg, such kindred spirits with our shared feelings on Japan!! I was lucky enough to grow up close with a Japanese family whose father was in the US for business. Their son was my age, and the first time I went to his house, I brought my Star Wars and GI Joe figures to impress. However, the boy (Aki) looked unimpressed… He pulled out a huge box from under his bed of giant, die-cast robots. 🤯 This was early 80’s and I had never seen anything like that. My mind was blown and it was love at first sight. I have not been to Japan yet, but I literally dream of that day.
That’s a cool story! I remember having similar friends growing up. I remember bringing my marvel comic books to school and I had an Asian friend who would bring Japanese art books to school. They were robotech, gundam. I remember being blown away by the amazing artwork and always wanting to get those books myself (which i eventually did).
Wow, what a beautiful video/short film! In only 18 mins, I truly felt like I was there, experiencing everything as you did. That takes a special kind of talent! A combination of giddy almost existential, excitement… Fighting exhaustion and feeling overwhelmed, to experience lifelong holy grails… Questioning whether you could actual live in this dream (“Am I cut out for this?”)… Seeking little pieces of solitude… It seems like so much, that I almost hesitate to want to visit. Thank you for sharing your journey with us!!
2024 was also my first time in Japan and I also met Jeremy. It was the best place I ever visited, I really miss it, I wish I can go back one day. I hope your amazing videos get the recognition they deserve so you and your family can go to Japan whenever you want ☺️
Thanks for sharing! I appreciate your thoughtful comments and careful presentation. That said, probably not what you're going for, but I laughed hard when you said you found a bench to sit on at the park because, man, I found it so hard to find places to sit and chill when I was over there. Good job!
lol! I wanted to go into detail about that. It was insane how hard it was to find a place to sit. I was exhausted especially having been walking around with all of my equipment in my bag!
Thank you so much for sharing this with us! This was very emotional and personal! Me myself want to fly to Japan since more than 23 Years now. And finally, in October 2025 i will be there! My plan was flying alone, but my son was crying in disappointment he couldn't fly with me. So i cut my trip from 10 to 5 full days, so he can come with me. But although i wasn't there yet, i know this will not be my last time. I want to be there with my husband sometime. Wish you all the best and that you can be there with your family soon! Greetings from Germany.
@@am333 thank you for watching! I’m happy for you knowing that your son will be with you. It’s not a pleasant feeling being alone out there. Safe travels and I hope you have a good time!
Excellent compilation video to end the year. Must say was shocked that Porsche cat said he liked Mexico over Kali that goes to show how bad UR state gotten.
Awesome and genuine!
