    The problem with them covering shipping is that they charge a fortune for the shipping to cover the cost just in case people throw an extra books such as I do or have large lots for sale and also the problem is people put it into their cart, I get notifications almost every day that people are adding stuff to their cart but when they see how much the shipping is they cancel the cart or remove it from the cart.
    It’s very exciting to see that somebody added it to a cart .. but to be honest, maybe one or two week and that is a very generous estimate. I’ve had books listed on there for close to 2 years now that are still sitting.

      I often take books off and just bring them to used bookstores or little free libraries. I try to rotate through stock so my shop is worth coming back to check out.

    Those are all good points you make to be honest I use Pango only for no value books that Ziffit and SBYB don’t take , seriously even if a book has a value of $.12 I’ll just throw it in a box and send it to one of those companies but if it has no value for books that they don’t take, I throw it on Pango

    I generally don’t hang on to books after I read them so I give them to friends and family who are interested in them. If I have MG or YA books, I pass those along to teacher friends for their classroom libraries. Anything left after that I donate to the library. I’ve definitely looked around on Pango to buy some!

    Krista, this isn't related to this video per se, but I had to tell you that when you described Piranesi in one of your wrap ups and explained why you didn't enjoy it, I immediately added it to my tbr because it sounded right up my alley. That was almost a year ago. I finally started it last night and then could NOT stop reading! I just finished it 😆. I loved it so so much! I predict it will be in my top books of the year. Thank you for mentioning it - even though it wasn't for you it definitely was for me! 😆🥰

    One problem that we cannot get around is the shipping that they charge while I love that they take care of the shipping and I don’t have to come up with any awkward prices or figure it out or anything, once people see the shipping price in the sale, almost never completes.
    This is a problem like today for example I’ve had about five notifications that people put different books including the same book 3 times in their cart but when they go to check it out the shipping is sometimes double because for example I might charge two or $3 for a book and the shipping might be five or $6 and it’s really unfair all of the buyers that we do not make a penny on shipping

    That’s the best part about scanning the ISBN barcode on the back, 90% of the time it works and uploads or refills all of the information and, so that is one thing that is really convenient and along with them covering the shipping which of course they make some money on

    It's interesting to learn about Pango books because I did wonder what it is all about. I've unhauled books by giving them to Goodwill, Salvation Army, my local public library (for the Friends of the Library book sale), little free libraries and giving them to family and friends. I've given bibles to the Love Packages organization that donates the bibles around the world. I tried to sell one big pile of books at Half Priced Books once but it just wasn't for me. I get a lot of books I read from the library or Net Galley so I don't feel the need to recoup the cost for the few books I purchase especially if I buy the books used. If I spent more on book purchases, I would probably try Pango books to recoup some of the cost. It sounds like Pango books is the best option to sell books. Thanks for sharing!

    • @catreadsbooks
      @catreadsbooks ปีที่แล้ว

      On a totally different topic, I've been trying to get my Net Galley ratio up to 80%. I focused on Net Galley books the first quarter of 2023 and I'm at 47%. I'm pleased with my progress. How are you doing on your Net Galley ratio?

    • @BooksAndJams
      @BooksAndJams  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Cat, first off, my Netgalley was almost at 50% but then I requested a whole bunch of April - June releases and got quite a few of them. I think I'm back down to 43% now, but have plans of reading at least one a month so I should make some good progress. I may take a month to read just books from my Netgalley...or at least mostly. Should be doable since I have quite a few older ones on there too so I won't be stuck reading just from my kindle. Glad this Pango Books video helped.

    • @catreadsbooks
      @catreadsbooks ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BooksAndJams 43% and still getting book requests is very good. I took the last 2 months to read just Net Galley books and that got my percentage up. Of course, Berkeley Publishing helped me with that too by denying my requests. LOL! I'm glad I read the Net Galley books. I enjoyed quite a few of them. I hope you are enjoying your Net Galley books too!

    Pango is great overall it’s very easy to use and yes they cover the shipping because they charge a lot for shipping but that’s cool that they cover the shipping so I don’t have to pay it at the post office or come up with some exorbitant price but it does take forever to sell on Pango … the thing is it’s extremely easy to list and completely free and the listing could stay there perpetually I have had stuff on there for two years now obviously just to give an idea how long it takes for a book to sell or never sell, but it just stays there until it sells so if you have a place to store books it cannot hurt

    • @BooksAndJams

    So, for me, Pango ticks a lot of boxes. Its so easy to list a book for sale. Second, even if the comission is 20%, you still end up making more money since Amazon charges an additional $1.80 per book. Third, I love the pre paid shipping labels.

    I have 3 boxes of books and getting ready to start one. I have to admit that I'm a weary of posts that just have one pic, and here's why. I had bought a book that had the cover I wanted. It was marked as excellent or brand new. Either way, so I purchased it. It arrived and I'm guessing it was a book outlet copy. No big deal, however I would have not purchased it, I would have added it to my book outlet cart, they still had them, and cheaper. You know I'm a big time Book Outlet Buyer, I would have liked to have known of the markings. I've purchased an excellent with a cracked spine 🙄. I'd either like more pictures, or a quick note posted that something like those were on the books. When I start mine, I will have more than one pic and will note a marking.
    I've seen a video and she wasn't downing Pango, but telling people to ask for additional pics on those who have just one pic. She had ordered a few that were library books that were marked in excellent condition, she wasn't too happy about that.
    I have purchased books by you and you are awesome on getting them out the door! I had it a couple days later 😳. Didn't expect that through media mail! I think I have a couple of your books on my wishlist, let me go look.
    Have a great day!

    • @BooksAndJams
      @BooksAndJams  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have never marked books that are from Book Outlet. The mark doesn't bother me. But I do take more pictures if there is any kind of blemish or something I would have liked to seen. I am pretty particular about my books so I am careful to label them what I would expect from others. I love how there's freedom for everyone to do their shop like they want. I won't shop at Thrift Books anymore because every book I've bought from there I thought was mislabeled. I've been very pleased with Pango so far though.

      @@BooksAndJams I had a purchased a couple of books that were sold by Amazon, sent by Amazon and they were actually from Trift and I wasn't thrilled. I didn't receive a new book, a received a stained book. I unsubscribed from Thrift, I agree with you there. You know I don't mind ink spots on my books, most of my books come from either book outlet or book bins at stores. But I do like finding a 50%, or higher off, on Amazon. I have a couple of your books in my cart, did you like or not like The Paper Palace was thinking of adding it. I've heard mixed reviews.

    Recently, I had a very large book haul, getting rid of over 200 books. I was running out of room on my bookshelves. I distributed them to all local thrift stores in my city. The trouble with that is I visit these shops regularly and have ended up re-buying the books that I donated. Not good!
    I live in Canada and Pango is not here. I am not sure if I can buy off your Psngo site or not. If so , what would the shipping be.
    It does seem like a good way to move the books you don't need any longer.
