      How do you flush the coolant? Do you mix it with distilled water?

    • @donaldlee6760
      @donaldlee6760 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      @@KhaledTheSaudiHawkII - When you drain the INVERTER coolant pretty much 100% of the coolant drains out, so it's not necessary to flush or "wash out" the remaining coolant. If you drain the ENGINE coolant then you do not drain out 100%, however it's OK if the new coolant is mixed with the old coolant, similar to how it's recommended to only drain and fill transmission fluid instead of doing a 100% transmission flush (3 liters vs roughly 10+ liters). If you're concerned that some old engine coolant remains, you can always just repeat every couple years instead of the standard 5 years.

    Corolla 1.8 head gasket on my car was not due to a coolant leak. What happened is that the head gasket simply through heating and cooling after 200,000 miles simply gave away between all four cylinders. There was a leak between cylinder 1 and 2, although the gasket between 2 and 3, as well as 3 and 4 were also deteriorating. The head gasket around the coolant passageway were fine. Fortunately a check engine light illuminated, misfire in cylinder 1, verified by a compression check. No coolant in the cylinder or the oil. Very expensive to fix, most shops advise to replace the motor with a used motor. That is stupid. I did the job myself, in a storage unit. Don't believe me, I have a video with the head gasket on the floor of the storage unit. His advice on changing the coolant is excellent though. I prefer every couple of years.

      203,000 miles. Head gasket issues are quite common on this generation. Car now has 215,000. The valve stem seals on cylinder 1 and 4 were completely shot. I swapped the valve stem seals for new ones. I run synthetic oil exclusively. That is the secret with that year of Corolla. Not too hard of a job. If I was going to charge the job would be very expensive. Talking 500 to 700. 300 parts, 150 in machining, and 200 in labor. The 700 number is if you wanted a new timing chain and water pump. I’m goin to get my radiator coolant on my 2015 lifted Scion xB. And it’s on 81k+ miles on it. And it’s very low but u can still see the coolant. But i definitely need to get them change. Those lasted me since brand new. 7-8 years and I still have some coolant. Hopefully in less than two weeks I’ll get them drained completely, and refill a brand new 2 gallons of Toyota pink coolant.
    Once that process is done, the life is good.
    I always change my oil every 5k miles. I don’t care what anyone says. I change my AT transmission fluid at 55k miles on. That I was supposed to change between 50k-60k miles. So I’m on the money.
    I already change the spark plugs 10k miles early, or 6k miles early. I already change my gas cap at 55k miles on it. So pretty much I did the maintenance way ahead of the schedule.
    It’s not truly necessary but I did it and gotta keep on top for maintaining. Got my all four brakss change with new oem replacements by centric rings. Four oem rotors and four ceramic pads and it’s amazing. The serpentine belts still in good condition.
    But I think I will get that replace after this winter is over. Or maybe sooner.
    My 2015 lifted Scion xB is running beautifully, shifts beautifully, handles well, no noise no vibrations.
    Gonna keep my lifted xB forever. Until it gave up on me. Hopefully if I have the money, I’d definitely swap to 3.5L 2GR swap for better reliability. And better hp in a natural way. That’s my dream.
    But for now, I enjoy my four banger.
    No oil consumption at all. Since I kept it maintain on time.

    The ls430 2004+ uses this same coolant without issue. So can you share with us how the coolant suddenly eats gaskets in other cars? Perhaps Lexus used a lower grade of rubber especially considering the many problems they have already had with rubber interiors melting and rubber control arm bushings falling on the ls460. The ls430 had no issues with this coolant. That said your advice may prove beneficial but only because the rubber is the culprit, not the coolant.

    I went to the dealership and requested they initially called a to be a coolant flush.
    After agreeing to the $239.99 price it was suddenly called a “drain and fill “!
    I was OK with that because the car being a V6 Highlander with 50,000 miles should be OK with a complete drain and fill.
    I wasn’t too upset until I found out they used a single gallon of 50-50 mix coolant that I was billed for.
    The cap was even left off the coolant reserve when I got the car back.
    The coolant level at 50° is exactly at the same height that it was when I sent the car in there.
    It’s about an inch and a half below the minimum line. Now I have doubts it was touched at all.
    I also had a transmission service done and they showed using only 1 quart but for some reason changed the drain plug and charged me $15.99 when the drain plug is less than five bucks! And why would I need a new drain plug?
    Bad dealers give Toyotas a bad name! I’m retired from a related automotive business, and I am very disappointed and discouraged at the service that I received at the dealership.

    Which one is better, green or pink coolant?

  • @aaaaaa-ru3tv

    I’ve got 52k miles on my ‘21 Rav4 Hybrid. I saw pink coolant on a lot of screws in the engine hood lining also on the hood cover inner border. What does this mean? I’m the only owner and I’ve been taking really good care of my car servicing regularly. Is it because my dealership added a top off coolant that maybe contaminated the original coolant? I thought I was good with original coolant for the first 100k and then every 50k. What could be the issue? I recently changed oil too been doing it every 4k miles

    So when we replace the coolant are we doing a coolant flush ??

    • @Pancha0123
      @Pancha0123 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes, a flush just means you flush out all the old and dirty fluid from the radiator, engine block, and hoses; replacing it with new coolant.

    You aint lying my 2008 toyta rav4 has over 205,000 miles and runs SO WELL! Why? Beause i change ALL THE FLUIDS. I do a 1,2,3 rule.i change my oil ever 3000 miles.I do my transmission fluid every other oil change. Completely flush and clean my cooling system and replace the fluid every 3 oil changes. Do ONLY THIS your car will last so much longer But because your vehicle will last SO LONG you HAVE to get your breaks. Rotors. Hubs. And wheel bearings at or around 150,000 miles. Just to be safe. Any vehicle that last SO LONG you HAVE to make SURE you and your family are SAFE, also others on the rd. If one of those cosmetic issues happen its so dangerous. So please everyone. Inspect your car. Even if its eery 5 months. Take 15 minutes jack up the front. Start trying to move things around. Spin your tires. And just listen. Take aride with NO distractions and no music and JUST LISTEN TO YOUR VEHICLE. it could save your life.

    Toyota says change the factory coolant after 100k miles/10 years and then every 50k/5 years after that. If you have a hybrid, the inverter has an even longer interval for the factory coolant. I suppose you could do the first change early but it could be a waste. Especially because many cars run long lives and never have their coolant changed at all. You're already ahead of the game if you even are thinking about changing the coolant at all. Lol
