I think the batteries are a convenience. If it had an internal battery it could be a problem if it dies. Having a removable battery pack makes it an easy fix. It would have been good if the rechagable battery back came with the controller though, or at least one that came with the console.

iAwesomeDuck IGN I was thinking the same thing. As a parent of several children, I've got like 100 rechargeable AA's ready to go for whatever toy happens to run out of juice. I understand most people won't have quite that many laying around but, I find it very convenient to use that supply for the xbox controllers as well. I would much rather a commonly used power supply than a proprietary pack that could only be used with that controller. I mean, if I had purchased a proprietary pack for the xbox 360 controllers, I probably wouldn't be able to use it in the xbox one controllers and I certainly wouldn't be able to use it on any of my kids' toys but, my AA's work everywhere... I love that. I say stick with the AA's because they are more universally useful. The rest of you, quit bitchin ;P

It's also sort of a trade off with the rechargeable battery packs vs built in though, because you have to realize when that built in battery is recharged so many times over the months/years it might not last as long as it used to on one recharge, and you'd just have to buy a whole new controller vs just replacing the Play & Charge Kit.

Everyone already knows why the X1 controller is better than the 360's. But here's a quick run-down of why the 360's are better than the X1's:
    - less loose analogs causes more precision in shooters
    - shoulder buttons are fairly simple to use
    - triggers are better when they feel like triggers, X1's triggers feel like a large button
    - sides are slightly less angled, which compliments your thumb's sense of x-axis & y-axis (not much of a pro, but it's something)
Now here's the opposite list, pro's for the X1 controller:
    - X1's controllers have a better D-pad
    - impulse triggers
    - the rubber on the analog sticks don't peel off
    - the plastic doesn't have those strange rises that the 360's have around the analog sticks (not much of a pro, but it's something)
    - a tackier and less cheaper feel
    - smaller controller allows slightly more mobility, smaller analog stick allows slightly less ambiguity
Over-all, there are still reasons why the Xbox 360's controller is better; but there are also reasons for why the X1's controller is better. The 360 may have a terrible d-pad and is a cheaper build-quality in some areas, but overall I feel that the X1 controller's bumpers, triggers and analog stick were a huge downgrade from the 360's. They tried fixing what wasn't broke. And since the bumpers, triggers and analog stick are the *main* strong points of the 360's, I feel as though the Xbox One ultimately failed at creating a controller that surpasses the 360's controller.

1.) Buy 4 rechargeable batteries and a charger in a kit friggin anywhere

    4.) Win forever

Unlike my PS4 controllers which last about max 3 hours of gameplay, and then Id have to sit a couple of inches from my 50inch tv. If not for my mobile charger...

The only part I disagree with is the battery pack. I admit not including rechargeable batteries is a bummer, but not forcing you to replace the whole damn controller when the batter dies is a far bigger bummer. My PS3 controller has long since been dead, and has to be plugged in to use. Considering the length of the cable it comes with, that means I have to sit pretty damn close. I would rather change packs, then whole controllers IMO.

Josef Hautala The 360 controller is the best gamepad in history. To suggest that Sony can make a controller better than the 360 is ludicrous and retarded. The DS4 controller is an improvement over the DS3 but it is nowhere near perfect!

Josef Hautala "Well imo the PS4** is superior. Better thumb sticks, d-pad, and more comfortable in the hands due to it not having a fat battery pack on the back.
Also the touch pad is fucking awesome and will be really fun to use with future games."

Hi , actually , this controller you could say it's 2 in 1 , when you plug in the microusb , it powers down the wireless card and becomes a wired controller to give you that "dedicated constant connection" Major Nelson's controller presentation video explains this. :)

  • @23pawlik

Actually the 2 AA batteries are the best solution. Internal battery as in the DS4 can die on you so you have to replace it yourself (this will void the warranty) or you just have to buy a new controller. The optional kit made by MS is decent but still it makes your controller wired when charging, unless you buy 2 packs, and they are expensive.
Meanwhile, you can get rechargeable AA batteries real cheap, you can choose whatever capacity you want - 2000mAh batteries will easily last 20h of playing with vibrations. If they die, you can replace them cheap again, though they should last for about 500 cycles. Buy 4 of them and you get 2 cheap battery packs which are always ready to go (and you don't need to hassle with charging, just get a socket charger). Eneloops can sit for a year and still should have 80% charge.

I've played with the X1 controller at gamescom and I have to say it is a step forward but it didn't feel as ergonomic as the 360. It's a little bit more angular in the hands and you have to get used to the slightly bigger feel of it. Besides this, the controller is almost perfect!

    AA batteries are better:
    1. If you run out of charge, you can put new ones in 2 seconds instead of playing wired while it's charging
    2. Built in battery packs degrade over time and you need to replace the whole controller if the battery becomes weak ($50) where as if your rechargeable batteries become weak just get new ones ($5)
    3. If you lose your charging cable, built-in battery controller dies

    • @AKAToySoldier
      @AKAToySoldier 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      AA batteries are worse
      1. Batteries are expensive and only last about two weeks
      2. Over two years of batteries is about over 200$ alone vs internal battery that last 5 years 50$ for controller
      3. Charger is USB cable. A lot of people have more than one

NO never switch to an internal battery, this dude has no clue how bad that is. Let use choose our battery types and be happy. Rechargeables are the way to go, pick up MH-C9000 Advanced charger with some of the Powerex AA and those will last you the life of your console, or the controller. Don't buy cheap rechargeables or chargers, they don't last the years (Energizer, Duracell have been crappy).

I'd much rather have a play and charge controller. When one battery dies I just put it on the charger and take the extra battery off the charger and I don't have to physically connect the controller to the console, like with the ps3. I usually play with a greater distance from the tv than the length of the charger cable Sony gives you. I won't be buying the Xbox One for a while as its not worth the price in my opinion. I would prioritize my money in other places. Still it looks like a nice controller.

I had a 360 last gen, but this time I went to Playstation. I went to my friend's house and tried the xbox one. The controller may look similar to its predecessor, but it surely does not feel like it. The 360 controller is 10X better than the xbox one controller. They changed too much with their new controller when it should have stayed exactly the same. My biggest problems with the controller are the bumpers, because they are noticeably far from the triggers and feel awkward when reaching for them. The dpad looks and feels better, but it is still mushy like the disc style dpad. Just overall the 360 controller was more ergonomic and the Xbox one controller feels crammed. Not a bad controller, but not what I expected.

I can play with my usual claw grip on my xbox one controller. The "face" (front) of the controller has more area to work with on my big hands. Area for the dualshock 4 is limited, and the thumbsticks are in a horrible horizontal alignment (as they always were since the original dualshock). The d-pad feels very satisfying when pressing it and the RL Shoulder buttons feel like a satisfying mouse click.
How I actually play is I use the base (and side) of my index finger (close to the index finger's base knuckle) pressing the shoulder buttons while having the rest of my index finger on the triggers, so I don't have to move my index finger from RT to RB (or LT to LB).
When I'm doing the claw grip I have my middle finger on LT/LB. It's phyically impossible to do that with the dual shock because the R1 and R2 buttons are far apart. There is absolutely no dead zone between the bumpers and triggers for xbox one. Plus the dual shock 4 triggers feel pathetically weak and small compared to xbox one's triggers (plus the vibration on them feels awesome).
I love my ps4 but I hate that dual shock 4 with a passion.

Welp, I have to say, I don't have neanderthal hands. The PS4 controller is bigger or round the same size as the One/360. The One also has this weird bump on the back and ruins the feeling for your middle fingers and the PS4 doesn't have that. It DOES on the other hand, have the ability to put both fingers on the bumpers/triggers and have it feel comfortable without getting used to it. No other controller can do that.

    • @B0ZER12321
      @B0ZER12321 10 ปีที่แล้ว +5

Jesse Cormier That's because for the 360/One controllers you rest your index fingers on the triggers (those are the primary back buttons for fps's) and reach your index up to access the bumper. Or at least thats how me and my friends hold it.
