  • In the United Arab Emirates, heavy thunderstorms rains on Tuesday caused the cancellation of several flights and significant damage accoss the country.
According to the National Centre of Meteorology, it was the largest amount of rainfall over a 24 hour period since records began in 1949.
Homes and roads were flooded, and ‘partially’ submerged cars were left abandoned. The tarmac at Dubai International Airport was also flooded as planes made their way around what looked more like a lake.
In Nigeria, The Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation, Prof. Joseph Utsev, has called on Nigerians to take proactive measures to address the potential flooding risks, with 31 states and 148 local government councils that have been identified as vulnerable.
The high flood risk states include: Adamawa, Akwa-Ibom, Anambra, Bauchi, Bayelsa, Benue, Borno, Cross River, Delta, Ebonyi, Edo, Imo, Jigawa, Kaduna, Kano, Kebbi, Kogi, Lagos, Nasarawa, Niger, Ogun, Ondo, Oyo, Plateau, Sokoto among others
In the United Kingdom, Two Nigerian professors, Olutayo Adesina and Abubakar Sani, have been awarded £1.7 million pounds in research grants, by the British Academy to undertake research projects on Nigeria’s historical and cultural domain.
Adesina and Sani, along with eight other professors from across the world, were announced as recipients of the British Academy Global Professorships Award, which aims to foster collaboration between leading international researchers and UK-based institutions.
Dr Adesina who is a Professor of History; at the University of Ibadan, received £879 thousands pounds to work with the University of Manchester during his study, which is to begin this year, While Abubakar Sule Sani who is a Professor of Archaeology at the Ahmadu Bello University in Zaria, received £892 thousand pounds for his research project with the University of East Anglia.
Former Enugu State governor, Dr Okwesilieze Nwodo has stirred up a debate online after he stated during an interview, that the igbos created many states in Nigeria, including Lagos and Kano.
Dr Okwesilieze spoke to Symfoni TV, where he also address several issues including what he termed as the marginalization of the igbos.
The Kaduna State House of Assembly on Tuesday, set up a 13-member fact-finding committee to investigate financial transactions, loans, grants and project executions under the eight-year administration of former governor Nasir el-Rufai.
During a special session, House speaker, Hon. Yusuf Liman moved the motion on matters of public importance, asking the House to investigate the loans borrowed by the former governor, stressing that it was important for the people of the state to know how the loans were used.
The Kano state anti-corruption and public complaints commission has brought fresh charges against the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Abdullahi Ganduje.
The chair of the anti-graft agency said the commission is investigating a case in which the Ganduje administration allegedly diverted N51 billion Naira.
The commission also stated that during the twilight of the ‘Ganduje administration, N1 billion Naira was withdrawn from the state's accounts for road rehabilitation, but the sum was allegedly diverted.
In Niger state, Governor Umar Bago, has issued a “shoot at sight” order to security operatives in the state, amid heightened insecurity, and has also declared a state of emergency, after two persons were killed during an attack by thugs in Minna, the state’s capital.
Governor Bago gave the orders while speaking with journalists during the annual durbar festival on Sunday.
The governor blamed the unrest on artisanal miners, adding that “maximum force” has been adopted to tackle the situation
Just days after popular cross dresser, Bobrisky was sentenced to six months in prison, for abusing the Naira, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Tuesday, filed a three-count charge against famous nightlife promoter, Pascal Okechukwu also known as ‘Cubana Chief Priest for alleged abuse of the Naira.
The anti-graft agency in a statement released on Sunday, had said that it is investigating several celebrities who may have been involved in currency abuse, Cubanna chief priest was accused of spraying and tampering with the naira at a social event on February 13th 2024, at Eko Hotel, in the tune of N500,000, a crime punishable under Section 21 of the CBN Act 2007. He was also accused of spraying money back in in 2020.

Thanks Rufai for your objectivity. In as much as we want to be nice and be diplomatic as Western Nigerians ,we must not make comments that next generations will hold us accountable with negative lens, when they discover the truth. Thanks Rufai for your analysis on Lagos.People also forgets that Western Region investments in Lagos surpassed and surpasses that of the Federal government even when Lagos was the capital of Nigeria. We should not also forget the kind gesture Lateef Jakande extended to the IGBOS by giving them Alaba and other vast lands for them to thrive .The lands were not bought by the IGBOS,Lagos state government gave them for free. Thank you Dr Abati about comments on marginalization ;it is the honest truth about marginalization.I like watching you guys and keep protecting the brand by telling the truth.

I guess the spirit of Igbos also earlier help ibadan (Yorubaland)too to became the largest city in west Africa long before another Yoruba land (lagos) continues to reflect the productivity of the Yoruba people. Lagos is built on the capabilities of all Nigerians. The Eastern should stop claiming that "We created Lagos." The Igbos enjoy using the statement, which gives them the impression that if the Igbos are not a part of Nigeria, the country will not progress. All tribes in Nigeria are unique in their respective capacities, and each contributes their fair share to the country's growth. The marginalisation notion that the Easterns used to claim is one with which I disagree in the sense that there are other tribes that have not been to the corridor of power and have managed to survive. If this idea holds true, other marginalised tribes will rise up to put pressure on the state.
In nation building, one tribe does not form a nation; it is communal efforts that do.
Every country has differences; ours is not exceptional, and they are able to coexist.
Let us embrace our country's success, set aside all of these thoughts, and look forward to a better country.

Resource control via the bull by the horn by Abia has ushered in 24/7 electric power with its abundant natural gas. Innoson who wisely avoided Lagos now has a base in Aba to expand. Brilliant and resplendent Ojy with another brilliantly presented programme. The equally elegant Ayo, Rufai and Dr Reuben Abati with a great analysis. Dr Okwesilieze is dead wrong. Unfortunately, everyone will love to think that they created Lagos however there was already a handful of indigenous people living in Lagos before the advent of various other tribes and nationalities who mainly ventured into Lagos for commercial reasons. Why the igbos should feel marginalised beats my imagination. They're allowed to settle and thrive in their businesses all over the country. Much more can be said for other tribes venturing into igbo lands. All tribes in Nigeria actually feel marginalised as postulated by Dr Abati. Congratulations to our two professors on their awards. Let's hope that they will use the funds for the right purposes to benefit particularly the Nigerian citizens rather than other foreign power. EFCC should do a thorough job on investigating Ganduje and El Rufai. They will find massive skeletons in their cupboards. If the government wants to test the law, let them begin the tests from their own ranks or amongst the politicians.

@@chineduonyekuru2144 . The fact that you’re freely accommodated in western region ( awolowo gave free lands in Lawason and surulere and relocated indigenous peoples to igbos after the war. I know your elders will not mention this . Jakande dashed you guys very cheap low cost housing flats, relocated traders from Jakara Lagos island to Alaba which was formerly a local market square, Jakade built the first set of shops and rented them out to traders etc ). All these free gifts are making you feel entitled to western region . Port harcourt dealt with you in way you can never forget and Lagos will sure put in your right place to reset all of your brains . Prepare to carry your properties to your villages .

Igbos will continue to cry of marginalization bcos they way they play their politics.
In last election shows how lgbos behave in their myopic mind by voting OBI 99% and beat up any anyone in their land that want to vote TINUBUN whereas in Lagos Yoruba voted Obi and he won the popularity vote but Tinubu won more LG. If Igbos who are minority in Nigeria continues to play politics of regional, and ethnicity, they will continued to be marginalized

Okwesilzi do not remember that Sunday Igboho does not have any pending case in any court in Nigeria with government, in fact he was the one who took government to court and he won against government.
Igboho defended Yoruba farmers against Fulani herders killing them on their farm also kidnapping them on their farm land.
While Nnamdi Kanu instigate ESN against government security officials, and spread lots of fake news against Buhari and his government.
Even the blind and the deaf will not compare Igboho with Kanu atitude because they the two are different in what they do.
For Okwesilezi to compares Kanu with Igboho is a misplaced comparison, has he forgot that Kanu was standing trial before he jumped bail and ran away from Nigeria? We watch Kanu broadcast from UK against government of Nigeria if Okwesilezi doesn't, Igboho never did such against government of Nigeria.
Kanu give order from UK to his foot soldiers in Nigeria to kill security officials, can Okwesilezi dany that?
