County music in the US, Ireland, everywhere is so similar. Love that. Thank you for the video. I grew up in Newfoundland in the 50’s. God bless Newfoundland❤️
I was stationed at Harmon from Dec.1960 til July 1962.Forty years before this video was shot .I still recognize a few buildingss but I can see that there have been a lot of changes .Thanks for posting .
In 1964, my mom married an E7-MSgt. who was stationed at Harmon AFB. My younger sister and brother (Kathy and Tom Horvath) moved to Newfoundland with her, and attended Harmon HS. Kathy graduated from Harmon in 1965, but Tom was still in school when the base closed in 1966. I never visited the base, but I enjoyed seeing this video of it.
I lived in Stephenville, Nfld., on Ernest Harmon AFB, as a child when my father was Fire Chief at the AFB. I would love to locate a playmate during my time there in 1948-1952; her name was "Bish" Keough/Keogh (not sure of spelling of surname. I also remember the Base Radio Station there in the Hotel DeQuink (not sure of correct spelling) and a radio announcer there named Pierre O'Brien. Would love to learn of them?
hi all... fortunate enough to have been at Harmon AFB, the town, and Cape St George YESTERDAY! Sun, calm winds, empty bldgs, tarmacs devoid of aircraft, clear air, vis unlimited. Our third trip! Was USAF Loring brat...but can identify with the Newfies! The town of Stephenville would be but a vestige, were it not for Uncle Sam.

I was born at Harmon in 1961!
My brother was too, on July 1 in the 50’s. Since that’s Canada Day his middle name is Canada.
