    I am still willing to dump load into a water heater when we get our 48 volt off grid system set up. I don't think with our 2,000 Amp hour 48 volt Absolyte VRLA battery bank will ever be "overcharged" though... God's Blessings to you! Thank you for posting!

    we just got our wind turbine from Missouri wind and solar it has two legs of 3 cord wires inside the tube we are trying to figure out where exactly to place the turbine so far we have not had very good luck with where to place it and how high we are now looking at 35feet and closer to the house but just wanted to know how many legs of wires you have inside the pipe we got 6gage wire it has 3 cords of wires inside the 6gage wire so we ran two 6 gage wire inside one to connect to the wind turbine and the other connected the six seem to connect to the charge controller panel we had to get an electrician to do the electrical part so far thank you for your reply

      You better check with them. My turbine only has one set of 3wires. They have always helped me. Perhaps they have a wiring diagram they can send you. Thanks for watching!

    You did a really nice install.Looks good. If you get any vibration into your building it's because the tower is rigid mounted to your building. The fix if you need it is to wrap your tower pipe with rubber to isolate it from the building.
    Like your brake switch also, very inexpensive but it will work just fine..

    • @MissouriWindandSolar
      @MissouriWindandSolar 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +benchmade55 That will fix that hum noise you hear. I did the same install as you years ago, i attached all my wind turbines direct to my pole barn rafters and man they hummed all threw the building. Rubber underneath the clamps and that fixed it.

      I love it! I use the TH-cam app built into my TV to watch all of these solar videos. Keep up the great work. We are so fortunate to live in a lifetime where this technology is available. Think of the poor people hundreds of years ago that did not have access to this. I am still paying off my panels. I am buying things in stages. A 30 amp WindyNation solar controller is on the way just so I can learn and play around with one panel for now. Once I get the money, I will opt for maybe a Midnite Classic 150 or something similar. Then I need the most expensive part of them all... the batteries! I would love to have the wind turbine as an option so that at least when the sun goes out, I could have a small amount of power coming in all night long rather than a big fat ZERO. Can you edit the description of this video and put a link to where you bought the turbine?

    And the voltage from solar is 110v which MPPT Solar charge controller controls it to 48v for the regular charge for the battery. If I should use wind turbine 48v 3000w is it advisable

  • @closertothetruth9209

    you need a watt meter so you know how many watts or killowatts your making each day, looks like you need even more elevation to make the most of your turbine, but like you said leaves are falling off, solar is by far the best but turbines can be fun especialy if you have a low wind turbines. nice scenery, bet its a great place to live.

    • @homesteadhandyman4481
      @homesteadhandyman4481  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +closertothetruth great idea. do you have a recommendation of a watt meter or a link to a good one? The turbine has allowed me to run an electric heater on low this winter in my shop on the stormy cloudy days, That is as high as I could get it by myself. Any higher and the guide wires would be in the driveway!

      +benchmade55 , the ones like you see hydrogen appliances sell, ive found them on ebay cheap, theyre black with a blue screen, commonly used with model aeroplanes. when you hook them up you must have the turbine brake on or you may fry the watt meter, once installed you can turn the wind turbine break off. the watt meter is a great investment.

    • @catchat7723
      @catchat7723 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +benchmade55 The watt meter that hydrogen appliances sell are a scam and dangerous to use. He has those on ebay cheap all right. The have a rating on them of a whopping 220 amps, lol and UL approved neither of which are true. It has 8 gauge wires on it and the MOST that it can handle is 50 amps. The UL office would NEVER have approved it, none of those are UL approved for a fact.
      I would expect a house fire from that watt meter.

    I have solar panels. I want to add wind Power to them. I’m getting a good 30 amp out of my solar panels. I get confused why a dump load is needed on wind. If my battery bank is full with my Solar my controller just does not charge. IfDC is coming in off the wind power just as the solar why would I need to dump any extra power off? I don’t have to do that with my Solar so why would I need to do it with the wind power? If my charge controller knows my battery bank is full wouldn’t it not charge anymore with the wind just as it would do with the solar

    • @homesteadhandyman4481
      @homesteadhandyman4481  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      My understanding is a wind turbine is designed to work with a load on it . If it does not the wind turbine will free spin and can do damage to itself. So it either has to be charging batteries or some sort of dump load. Because a solar panel has no moving parts you do not have this concern. Hope that helps!
