My sister does search and rescue in this area and she says she loves the PCT hikers! She said they always have so much support and the calls are always safer and more organized. ❤❤
THIS is what's so great about the hiking community. Someone who you just met needs help? Easy, everybody carries his stuff and hikes with him to get him out.
Yesterday - giving another hiker a pair of shoes. Today - Team Rescue. WOW. You and your trail family are true trail angels. What's next? Fighting off bears and mountain lions. Julianne and tramily examples of how the trail provides. Ya'll are doing great. How nice that you found a place for everyone to stay and that the owner just left you there. Glad you're out of the storm. I like the name for Whitney. Great views. The PCT is really a beautiful trail. Thanks so much for sharing. Take care of yourself. Try not to fall again. I'm sure I wasn't the only one you scared when your camera went catiwampus all of a sudden. Stay safe. See you tomorrow.
Great example of the hiking community looking out for each other. Team rescue does what ever it takes to help a fellow hiker. And the reward turns out to have another trail angel come to the rescue with warm, dry accommodations! 👍😜
🚶♀️👟👟⛺ the trail community is so awesome taking care of one another and looking out for each other if only the real world was like that we would live in a great place Doug wishing you a speedy recovery and roadrunner I say it again you're awesome 💯♥️
Sounds like a great trail name for Whitney! Aww so sweet. I am so glad you were able to help the injured hiker and glad to hear that help came quickly after contacting them. Hope he is okay! The dog was so cute too! 😊
You and Lil Chap have found a wonderful group of hikers with which to travel. Never hurts to have a nurse in the group. I hope the fellow y’all helped is doing well. Thanks for doing that.
You scored staying indoors. So much fun. Apparently Cibbets Flat campground is still closed due to that military helicopter crashing. Glad I got to meet some very nice people there last year and delicious trail magic. BTW, tell your friend that she will not freeze to death in her 15 degree quilt. One year, I had a 50F quilt and a car window shade to sleep on only and it got down to 10F with windchill on the PCT and I’m still alive and kicking. It was a very long miserable night though.
WOW. Such a different vibe from the store across the road, when I went thru ~10 March. That old store opposite was the absolute worst vibe in my 15 days on trail. I seem to recall the owners did similar years ago for a tramily. It was closed when two of us came through but we woulda been in there had they been open.
You guys did great with the rescue, especially Doug getting his ambulatory self out of the wilderness😊 without further incident. Self rescue is always the best rescue. This is another good video, i hope you all enjoyed the snow, it was a big storm (assuming this was a week or so ago).
I believe this was last thurs, since they had booked a room for friday's storm arrival. And yeah, it had more punch than predicted; Mammoth got almost 2' of snow
@@larkangel6593 Thanks for the confirmation on -which- storm it was that hit them, California has had too many storms in a row this year for me to remember the size or effects for each. At least California will have plenty of water this summer!
You got to meet some of our amazing Calfire here. They are the only statewide wildfire fighting company in the US. They are amazing. (twice they have stopped fires coming towards my house)
I do hope Doug is ok now and is able to get back out on trail, and that if he went to hospital they let him bring in his dog. ❤ It's amazing how you all took care of him 😊 his dog is very well behaved. What a great spot tonstay for the night! The owner is so trusting amd generous to let you stay on the honour system. The man who was sitting next to you with the glasses and curly hair looks like a friend of mine! Weirdness 😂
What was the injury of the hiker? Dispatch is wonderful. I love your attitude about talking to people ( I remember the video you wrote about that being a goal! Way to go!
@@larkangel6593 Maybe he was just taking his dog for a few early sections. But if you read any discussion of the PCT, dogs just aren't allowed in most places and it's cruel to the dogs even if you ignore the law. It's just bad all around.
@@SkepticalRaptorbut he had a full pack ... I love taking our dogs on days hikes, especially in the forest service areas outside the parks Still, 5+ miles and they show it
@@SkepticalRaptorthere's weirdos and newbies in every activity, but they're usually quickly eliminated I think section A might have the highest drop out rate - people get out there thinking it's cool or whatever and quickly realize it's actually hard, sweaty and exhausting At that point they quickly conclude it's not for them and bail out. If not morena/Boulder, then definitely laguna, especially if a spring snow storm comes in after struggling through the desert But that poor dog didn't have a choice - it seemed older, a bit out of shape and long haired I run into a guy now and then that has a young German pointer - that dog needs 5 miles per day. But it would be pressed to do 10, and of course could never do 20, much less every day
And they got Cal Fire - notice how the dudes weren't tacted out in battle gear? And yeah, I felt more sorry for the poor dog taken out there by an out of shape hiker
Why did you call 911 instead of pushing your SOS button? The SOS is better. They will coordinate everything for you. That's what you pay them for. 911 is not even that good. The California 911 just let some woman die out in the desert when her car got stuck, even though she told them the correct GPS coordinance. That won't happen with SOS. 👍
@ Whitney: Please never take the name "Teabag".

Awesome how all the hikers pulled together to help the injured hiker carry his gear. Love the trail name, Dispatch! You all Rock! Hike~~On~~>
Well done you guys! Always sad to see a hiker get injured. I am happy for his dog, though. Thanks for the video!
I’d love to be part of y’all’s group. I’m enjoying being a part of it just watching. Great fun and support for each other.
Way to go “Team Rescue!” ❤
Great video!! ❤ Also - love your faith! ❤
I'm guessing you are unaware of the euphemistic meaning of "tea bag"...it would be an interesting trail name, that's for sure.
Whitney’s fire red hair “ like my wife” FIREBALL!!! 🎉
Only 3 days in and it's already quite the adventure!
I think "Dispatch" is by far the best trail name origin story of any i have heard. FOr sure a proud one to have
probably the best results for the dog. happy you all helped
Great job to all the hikers sticking together and helping a fellow hiker.
What great Cafe owners to do that for you...

Great job everyone! The picture of everyone by the Border Patrol is a real keeper. Thank God for dedicated people like them and SAR.
Thanks. You are so delightful to watch.
It takes a village!!! You all are awesome and amazing ambassadors / role models for all trail hikers ❤

Wow. You guys are amazing and looks like the beginning of a tramily to me. Happy trails.🤘🏻🥾⛰️
I have a suggestion for Whitney's trail name, can we please call her "MT Whitney" 🙂, Hi Whitney and all your tramily!!!! Hi everyone happy trails
Well your group is a good group to be with if you plan on getting evacuated for sure. Was nice to see everyone doing something
I'm surprised they didn't put snakes on that sign. Seems like that's one of the biggest dangers on the PCT.
New subscriber here 😊. A great community there😊. The dog already won our hearts😊😊

I'm really enjoying watching you hike - reminiscing of my failed 2019 attempt. That was very nice of the Pine Tavern to let you all crash there!
It was such an awesome place

Dispatch..Cool trail name 😎👍🏼
Surprised at the lack of snow on/near Mt. Laguna.
You go this!!! hello from south Fl.... :)
Hiker community rocks..
Loved the video!
What a great vid...you guys are fun...I'm gonna find that cafe...very kewl....
Amazing sound guy's.
How sweet.....!
don't call someone a trail name they deny
What card game are you playing at the end?
Looks like you have a tramily!
Wondering if you've seen any ticks yet...🤔
Why would someone bring a dog on the PCT? Most of the PCT doesn’t allow dogs. And it’s hard on the poor dog.
yep, even the strongest dogs are pressed to do 10. Humans are easily geared for 30s if need be

call whitney, mtn lion....
I agree with little chap That was a terrible name dispatch is a much better name
Hold on, chap named her teabag and dispatch
Why bring a dog? So many reason not too.. injury, food water, lost.. other animals. I believe it not a cool thing to do.
Border Patrol?
You called border patrol for an injured dog? Sounds appropriate 🤦
