You have a point to some extent. The blonde guy on the dragon boat is definitely nordic, and he lives in the viking village in Norway. But what you need to understand is that Viking is not a identity, it is a profession.
So yeah, nobody is a real viking. But seeing people posing as a viking fantasy character with a badly translated “my mother told me” song makes me cringe.

Not a single helmet or chainmail shirt... not all vikings were berserkers, and even they used some form of armor. Dressing up like Conan The Barbarian is NOT an accurate representation of Vikings. And the paint is a Pictish thing, and the Picts would've been fighting the Romans, Saxons, and Vikings to keep them out of Caledonia, which later became Scotland.

You are correct. Furr and leather was RARE materials for the Norsemen, and most likely reserved for the elite of the time. Helmets and chainmail shirts were probably also not as common, especially during the early years of the viking era. As far as I know, only 1 to just a handful of helmets have ever been found in Norway that came from the Viking age. The average Viking wore woven wool tunics and trousers that came in a variety of colors made from natural dyes, and women wore dresses from the same material. But I guess that sort of historical correct attire doesn't have the ''cool'' factor that modern television is attempting to portray. Also, contrary to what TV shows like Vikings portray, SWORDS was not a very common weapon for most Vikings to use, as it was usually reserved for the elites. Most Vikings used axes or spears together with a shield.
@@bobmalibaliyahmarley1551 I didn’t even think about bringing the weapons into this. Most people have no idea how ridiculously expensive and difficult it was to make a sword back then. Spears were always much more common on the battlefield, even up to the 14-1600s. But swords look cooler and are easier to film.
