@@Thekoryosmenstribepodcast interesting, but let me tell you smth real quick. I am also Swedish and it wouldn’t surprise me if I or some hundreds of other Swedes, Scandinavians and what not to share the blood of that viking, or any other Viking. Why is this? Well people during these times went around to brothels and such, a example of this very thing comes when you see the American presidents. Only 2 of them don’t share the blood of king John, and no one of these presidents weren’t even Obama. I could probably share the blood of some random lord/king/legend that I don’t know about, but maybe 10000 people also share his/hers blood. That is why I am not impressed, tho ofc if you know whom was your ancestor there is a big chance no one else have found about it yet which would mean that you can still flex with it. (Btw reason I asked if you were American is because there is a bunch of Vikingboos there). Another PS: I love the Vendel period more then the Viking age as it is filled with artifacts of art, legends and much more.
@@langskeppet9887 I have no idea what á "vikingboo" is. Im simply á norse traditionalist. Not "brosatru" not asatru, I dont belong to some wannabe clubs or group. I am simply continuing the tradition that my ancestors did. Because I am them. As far as "Viking blood" or DNA. I dont really care how many share that persons DNA, and its not a flex. its very simple really. I share his last name, and DNA, along with many other scandanavian men and women, as I have two sides of my family from Norway, Sweden, and then traced them into Iceland and scotland after their invasion. The son of Njål landed in scotland, and I traced him to my grandfathers side. The simple fact is í have 60% scandanavian DNA, 20% Scottish DNA, and 13% french, and German mix, and 8% south slavic DNA. My family is full of warriors, stretching from two grandfathers who fought in world war 2, back to the norse, scythians, germanic tribes, and the picts as well. Thats whats important. Im from a long line of warriors and Men who refused to put down their weapons. Whether or not someone else share that DNA is of no concern to me. I also spent time in gangs on the street, I was locked up at 11 for the first time in a juvenile facility, I have survived many things on the streets, watched friends die and buried them, abuse, violent shootings, and being locked up, homeless, drug abuse, and alcoholism. So for me í was lost until I figured out why I was so tough, and why im still here and not dead. Because I am part of these fearless men. I was always different. Never afraid of anyone, or death. That was long before I figured out who I was. Ive had pistols in my face, and looked death in the face, and I never flinched. Now I know why. Not all men are created equally. Ps. I will sáy that people like you who go into comment section to pick apart, so called "viking" wannabes or followers are annoying. If you dont like them fine. But its really on them to be what they want. I see alot of people in this whole community always trying to out do eachother, instead of just getting along. I sung this song (In English) three weeks ago to my grandma who passed away that night. Today is my birthday and Grimfrost posts this amazing video! I love the video and the song is really done well!
awesome sung my dude for those who want it, the correct translation of the poem reads: -my mother told me or this my mother told me -I am owed or They owe me (they in this case are men that had some altercation whit the poem writer after a deadly fight between 2 kids, one of which was the poem writer) -I ought to sail as a viking -swift and good oars ( a ship is never mentioned but is assumed due to context) -stand atop the kastell/ lypting ( take note that a kastell on a viking longboat is a free standing platform that's risen above the normal "dekk", lyptning meaning the back of the ship, where the helmsman is standing) -Steer the merchant ship ( the poem specifies "Knerri" which is the plural of Knar which is a merchant long boat.) -hold steady to harbour. / hold steady to home -chop down man after man ( poem reads; hǫggva mann ok annan. think of "hoggva" like the verb of chopping timber.) -chop down man after man
Ƿes þu hal! Brilliant! Simply brilliant! A truly stirring rendition by all: singer AND band. Furthermore, can we all take a moment to appreciate the beauty and wisdom of our Germanic culture?
I would love to see a viking movie in old languages with subtitles. Theres a lot of power in those words and its moving to hear this song done in this way. I love viking people. You are all beautiful and the world needs more of you. Get to work.
I really like the shot at the end, when the kid unsheathes his father's sword. The implication is heavy enough, though I like how the sword does not have blood on it, because of course it wouldn't, but does reflect the red on his father's coat on its edge. If intentional, very good touch. The song is awesome, also, very faithful and atmospheric.
Sorry, I'm just getting a bit misty-eyed about this. Throughout history, so many voices have fallen forever silent. But this one carried through the ages. And when we heard it, we turned to a man a thousand years dead and said "Welcome, brother. Come and sing with us."

Its always, "american vikings are stupid wannabes" or "These viking people in Sweden are so stuck up, cause they have a higher percentage of DNA.". No one gives a flying fk. Just do you. If they are fake, let them be fake.
If you want to know anything else about me, feel free to add me on instagram @slavic_viking1983 (No í am not a plastic wannabe viking that decided after watching the show that now im super duper warrior viking man, that has the blood of every character in the show. I was doing this long before I watched vikings).
I'm Russian. I'd have to think this is what it was like for kievan rus as well. Really, fantastically done.
True
«Рюриковичи мы!»
Rus, like men from Roslagen on viking in east. Roslagen is around Stockholm, Sweden.
Remember, Russians have nothing in common with Kievan Rus.
Russians are part of the Golden Horde.
@@ВолодимирЛікарко learn about where word “Rus” is come from, don’t be cringe 😂😂😂
Peter Franzen's voice is masculine beauty.
So much better than the English version which is still good, but this really hits home. Thank you for this.
I love Peter and his character
i always loved peter (haralds) deep and yet kinda raspy voice. so amazing
Great Odin love to hear that voice..Peter uniqe voice...Big thanks to Grimfrost for music...heart feel some beautiful sense...Hail Odin...
Absolutely amazing! hearing king Harald and his brother sing was one of the best scenes ever in the series
From the steppes of beautiful Mongolia...i am proud of the vikings from the cold scandenavia.
Love this so much and to have Peter singing makes it extra epic!!!
The way Harald and his brother sing it in the forest, before battle, in the Viking series it is the only and best way to listen this song, no other effect is needed.
Words cannot express how happy and grateful I am for this masterpiece. Thank you with all my heart.
It’s amazing how you can take a strong song and turn it into a power overload song. Perfection!!!
Love the Old Norse pronunciation. Best version by far. Hafið þökk fyrir.
I love the fact you added Egil Skallagrimson as the lyrics writer, subbed!
Egil wrote it after his first killing, aged 7
This song gives me goosebumps.. I love the nordic version of this song, especially sung by Peter Franzén. In the one episode of Vikings I was totally blown away as Harald sung it with Halfdan. I love Peters rough voice.. he´s an acellent actor and singer.
I sung this song (In English) three weeks ago to my grandma who passed away that night. Today is my birthday and Grimfrost posts this amazing video!
I love the video and the song is really done well!
Sincere condolences; Grandmas are special; mine been gone for over 20 years, and there is not a day I don't miss her comforting presence.
awesome sung my dude
for those who want it, the correct translation of the poem reads:
-my mother told me or this my mother told me
-I am owed or They owe me (they in this case are men that had some altercation whit the poem writer after a deadly fight between 2 kids, one of which was the poem writer)
-I ought to sail as a viking
-swift and good oars ( a ship is never mentioned but is assumed due to context)
-stand atop the kastell/ lypting ( take note that a kastell on a viking longboat is a free standing platform that's risen above the normal "dekk", lyptning meaning the back of the ship, where the helmsman is standing)
-Steer the merchant ship ( the poem specifies "Knerri" which is the plural of Knar which is a merchant long boat.)
-hold steady to harbour. / hold steady to home
-chop down man after man ( poem reads; hǫggva mann ok annan. think of "hoggva" like the verb of chopping timber.)
-chop down man after man
I really like that they show an elder teaching the youth how to use arms, really creates a feeling of community
Not the Finnish cover I was looking for but glad to have found Franzen singing this👍
This is absolutely amazing!!! Peter Franzen makes this even more epic!
Ƿes þu hal!
Brilliant! Simply brilliant!
A truly stirring rendition by all: singer AND band.
Furthermore, can we all take a moment to appreciate the beauty and wisdom of our Germanic culture?
I don’t speak the language, but to feel the song, it want needed. The voice, the music , the imagery was absolutely amazing. Thank you for sharing it.
I can't believe they got Peter Franzen to jump on this version!!! ❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️ #epicshit
This is perhaps the most haunting, beautiful, and POWERFUL version of this song in existence!
this song in old norse is even more beautiful it reminds me how important family was for the vikings ❤ 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
This resonated with a part of my soul yearning for the more simple life of my ancestors. Grimfrost Thank you for this! Odin smiles upon you!
Hands down best version of this song. Beautifully done guys.
This is amazing! Please more of Peter Franzén! His voice is perfect for songs like this.😄
The song Peter sang in Vikings was such a great performance I wanted a whole video about it, it’s a good day
That last scene with the boy drawing the sword, was very powerful. Felt like it had a incredibly deep meaning.
By far the best version I’ve heard of this song.
Thank you for it.
I would love to see a viking movie in old languages with subtitles. Theres a lot of power in those words and its moving to hear this song done in this way.
I love viking people. You are all beautiful and the world needs more of you. Get to work.
*tears for a time long longer here*
This was a beautiful tearful video.
May the ancestors smile on you Grimfrost
I really like the shot at the end, when the kid unsheathes his father's sword. The implication is heavy enough, though I like how the sword does not have blood on it, because of course it wouldn't, but does reflect the red on his father's coat on its edge. If intentional, very good touch. The song is awesome, also, very faithful and atmospheric.
This right here is the best person I've heard so far this sounds authentic as said over nine hundred years
Composed by Einar Selvik!!! Praise the Gods, we're truly blessed with this masterpiece.
I always loved hindarfjall
Sorry, I'm just getting a bit misty-eyed about this. Throughout history, so many voices have fallen forever silent. But this one carried through the ages. And when we heard it, we turned to a man a thousand years dead and said "Welcome, brother. Come and sing with us."
Which is admittedly a funny reaction to have to a song about killing people and taking their stuff, but y'know. We contain multitudes
King Harald always entertain us with his voice everywhere :P
Skål til alle mine nordiske brør!
Skål!
Underbart musik , älskar vikingarna.
Put of all the versions I've heard, by far the best one out there, makes me feel like a badass
The english version hyped me up, this one with the old language and instruments stirs up something primal
Просто невероятно, кровь стынет в жилах!
It's so amazing you got Peter Franzen to feature on this too. I'm fanboying it out here haha
Wonderful video, proud to be a part of it.
Story, mood and of course the voice in the video is great 👊🏼
Þakka þer Broðir Peter Franzen ! 🙏🏻
My honey showed me this because of my deep love for Franzen. I was NOT disappointed at all. Beautiful video and music. The instruments are phenomenal, the video is beautifully shot and Peter's vocals are hauntingly lovely
This is so badass with King Harald's actor singing it in Old Norse, real ones knew this song years ago!
Not even 1M views? This version is seriously under-appreciated!
People think the vikings are no more.... but we are still here 😊 Iceland faroe islands denmark Sweden Norway, we are as tight as back then, in denmark we have holger danske, when denmark is in distress, he will rise and the old viking spirit will hit us. It did under 2. Ww
La terre de glace, Norse, Danois et nos frères de Suède. Mais tu as aussi oublié la Terre des Hommes du Nord. Celui qui a conquis l Angleterre et dont l âge Viking se fini par la Normandie 🪓🍻
@@jujuleviking6016 that was denmark and norway (danish) at that time.
We all know egil would be proud of this masterpiece
I've heard several versions, all were good, but this one permeates the soul.
Absolutely love this song, everything I play this song I can't help but sing along with it and feel shivers and chills throughout my body! It's such a masterpiece! As a follower of the old Norse faith I use this in my prayers and offerings to the gods, keep up the amazing work!
your gods are dead

@@Shadow-li7vs What did they guide you to do? Im not hateful or disrespectful, Im only telling you the fact that your gods are dead.
@@protoketer4554 why would they be dead? i've felt and seen them.
@@Springspin I do not mean in a litteral way. They are dead because they are evil. Im Swedish so I know what Im talking about. They are as evil as the gods of the Aztecs. You are praying to demons who want human sacrifice, torture and disgusting sexual rites.
I've listened for this 50 times. Still need for it
This almost brought a tear to my eyes. You have made our ancestors proud 👏 🥲
That was giving me goosebumps, I loved it. Visuals were epic too, perfect combo.
This is my favorite version. By far the best one, and it is awesome that you all got Peter to be apart of it
I'm so fu***ng far from place and time I feel I belong... Damn... Listening to this I started to miss... Home? Is that normal? Is it possible I miss the place I've never seen?
yes, it is possible to miss a place you have never been
Since listening to King Harold on Vikings, this is literally now the only version of this song I wish to listen. Well done!
I used to recite this poem to my wife’s belly as our son was growing inside, also sang it to him to put him to sleep, now he is 2 and half almost, randomly he says “styra dyrum kenrri..” this show how much we love this song. Thanks for creating and sharing
Peters voice is from Odin himself.
It makes sense. His breath is also from Odin.
@hola don't know that Peter cares that much about Asa gods nor Kalevala gods.
You might consider Baldur in your praises then.
@Ice Age Baby Peter is Norwegian, Jasper Pääkkönen who played Halfdan is Finnish..
I'd rather say from Bragi. Whatever god or goddess he got it from, he sounds amazing!
Grimfrost... Always the best thank you...
After all the research I've done on my ancestry, I feel truly connected to this is so many ways!
This is like an end movie song after a long journey I live for it
