I'm really vibing to these viking tunes
I grew up in Dalarna, though not in Älvdalen. And yes, älvdalska 'elfdalian' is like a separate language. And sadly fewer and fewer people speak it today. I find it really cool that you mentioned this!
Hans uttal av Dalarna var komiskt
Great vid as always! I think it would be really cool to see you guys tackle historical moments/facts that many people believe, but in reality never happened
Oh yes we'd love to do a historical misconceptions video, that's on the list.
@@DecadesVideosWhat about North South East and West the dwarfs who hold up the sky?
Great video lads!
Music was especially good for this one and I learned a lot.
Keep up the great work!
You guys are doing great work I can't wait to see what's next
Another great upload, good work
Didn't know most of these, good work as always!
Really like the channel so far, id love to see more strange and bizarre fact videos, wacky stuff and mysterious things are my favorite parts of history
Love the info on Vikings
Great Video actually learned interesting things about them
The name Bluetooth technology is from the danish king. I live near his stone and it's one of the best reserved viking heritage.
I grew up and live near a town called 'Fort Oglethorpe' named for the fort which was named for a general, I think. And now you're telling me that's (probably) a 'viking' name?! My favorite fact this week by far!
My cat is iconic - she came into the room when you talked about how cats were worshipped by the Vikings and left when you went on to the next fact. It's the orange one in my profile pic btw
I'd like to see a video on Celtic Culture, not much is left of it but what's known should be known.
Quality vid mate.
Viking Longships Were Technological Marvels
Good stuff
I love history man I learn about D-Day since I was six so yes this is why i am enjoy this channel
I've been to the beaches in Normandy, I'd love to go again and do an on location video on D-Day
Great video, a highlight of Valhalla for me on a personal level was Doncaster and a Goodwin in the game 😂. My surname and where I’m from. A cute personal Easter egg.
Yeah one thing that always bothers me is the terminology of the word. when people refer to Danes or Norwegians as Vikings when they’re really not is a bit problematic and paints a wrong picture. When they say “the Viking king invaded England in 1066!” It’s kind of ridiculous, he wasn’t a “Viking” king, he was a norwegian king… who led a norwegian army.
And about the helmets, it’s likely we don’t find much of them because the metal was reused in other things since metal was of course very precious.
Also a video about the anglo saxon period would be very interesting! Maybe about the war between Edmund ironside and cnut the great.
It's always difficult to find the sweet spot with nuanced terminology, the word "Viking" is used more liberally in the modern studies, but it's not necessarily the most correct most of the time. I try to distinguish it properly in this video where I can, but that doesn't mean I'll use it accurately either. It's just become an easily recognisable word.
Gimme more!
yes sir
Friday is Freya's day.. actually in Danish most of our week day's are named by the Gods
Days that have a viking origin
Sunday - sol (sun)
Monday - måne ( moon)
Tuesday - Tyr's day
Wednesday - Wotan (Odin's) day
Thursday - as you mention Thor's day
Friday - Frigg's day
So 6 of 7 days come from viking gods.
Fun fact Hagia Sophia, Istanbul has some viking graffitti on it.
Gold is good but battle better, and glory never dies, forever it lives in the hall of heroes, high upon valor’s steed.
But seriously, great video and the consistent content has been amazing. 👍🏾

Thank you I thought it was great it wasn't too much and it wasn't too little and silly stereotypes weren't given unfortunately I don't know why when the presenter was doing such a wonderful job throughout to the end really there were jobs of being bored with doing this video and speaking for it narrating several jobs and negative commentary you did a great job it was a great visual great narrative not Over the Top nice introductory for those that don't know so that's the only negative I have is that you weren't positive enough about your own production- good job!
This pleases me
No one mentioned the raven bearing jomsviking Named eivor
Another fact: The long Axe that you all probably know is still today called a Dane Axe. Another fact: 2 danes has been king of England during the viking period.
My family members still speak some gealic, i have celtic ties, nothing like ppl just immediately associating me with vikings or red hair lol, actually my entire family has blue green eyes and dark hair, occasionally blonde.
Thor's day is how us geordies still pronounce Thursday :)
I wanna know who the hell found out you can boil piss and fungi than pour it on something and it would start a chemical reaction 😂 some dude just like “hmmm I’m gonna boil my piss and make a potion hmmm what’s this throw that in there (3 days later) hmmm Ight I’m just gonna pour this out idk why I did thi- whaat”
You may not know this, but I am the Viking
Vikings were poor, an entire iron sword cost a lot more than most Vikings could afford, though most people had an improvised axe or a blunt weapon.
And the word "Norsemen" also has it's origin in Denmark according to historians....but how can we know right.
As much as the vikings now make me cringe at a mention, this went a good way on getting me to enjoy the history again! Class video!

Actually viking's were called Dane's and Denmark was the cradle of vikings.
Vikings were called Danes, Norsemen or Rus depending on where they came from.
Denmark was the cradle … 😁 whatever makes you sleep at night.
@@reineh3477 I would sleep fine either way, but it's actually true.
@@reineh3477 nope not true... Norsemen were in fact Danes..the word Norsemen is due to Denmark owned England, norway, northern Germany, south Sweden and France.... even in Russia they had to pay danegeld (dane as in ..dane), and after Denmark established Danelaw in England, Scandinavia was. Jutland in Denmark more specific was the cradle of viking's according to history....but keep in mind that Germany, Sweden and Norway . personally I don't really care if it's true or not, but since I love history from all over the world, I just wanted to tell it how it is.... I don't understand why it's such a big deal for you?
@@mortenhyvejle Norway wasn't Danish during the viking age. Russia didn't exist during the viking age, Moscow was just a small village. Most of the vikings that traveled east was Swedish and the slavs first ruler, Rurik, was Swedish. Ever heard of the Kievan-Rus?
It is important since I don't want people to believe that Denmark was the center of the everything.
@@reineh3477 nope you are right about that...my English is not that good so I have trouble with explaining...but yes you are absolutely right, my bad mate.
the background video effect used throughout the video is super annoying
So now we know AC Valhalla turned shit
Their cleanliness also reportedly led to many english women leaving their dirty-assed husbands.
Norse women could start divorce as well.
As a finnish person fact 5 was excellent
I bet you won't read and ❤ this comment.
You were right
What's with all the white flies in the background? Lose it, it's crap. Otherwise, entertaining as usual. And I've been to L’Anse aux Meadows, the Viking settlement in Newfoundland.
there are nicer ways to point out the things you dislike in somebody's style
I'll play around with some other effects for these videos for sure, gives the screen something to do if nothing can be shown.
