Saving private ryan is the catalyst and standard for all war films that came after it. It is one of the greatest films of all time and I belive is 110% revolutionary to film, and especially the war genre.

Not really, its really overrated and much like a blockbuster film, its C tier at best, the only good thing about it is the directing.

Trust me when I say this as a person whos favourite decades of film are the 90s and 2000s
I think Saving Private Ryan is massivley overrated and the war movie genre has gone downhill since it came into the scene
Movies like Apop Now, Platoon, and Full Metal Jacket had so much more soul and personality while still being able to capture the horrors of war meanwhile I cant say the same for a lot of war films nowadays.

For me Godfather Part 2 deserves a place in S tier,i would place Pulp Fiction and TGTBATU in A and i would swap Interstellar and Seven

City of God is S for me. I do have a personal attachment since it really got me into film, but I watched it three times and it’s just so incredible for me
its a wonderful life is S tier top for me. such a personal attachment especially in the final act

24. It’s a Wonderful Life (It’s a great film and it’s very sweet, but I didn’t grow up with it and I don’t really feel a need to rewatch it)
23. The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (Not a big fan of westerns however this is a great one, but I might prefer For a Few Dollars More)
22. One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest (I’ve only watched it once and I thought it was a fantastic film with all time great acting, however it was a long time ago now since I saw it so I would need a rewatch to put it higher)
21. 12 Angry Men (Another one I’ve only seen once and I was probably like 17 when I did, so I definitely need a rewatch)

I also like all the S films, but 12 Angry Men isnt sidney's best imo, that goes to Network.

Can you explain how Saving Private Ryan is not propaganda but Forrest Gump is? im not asking in bad faith im genuinely confused why one is considered military le propaganda and the other is not.

I think Seven is a far better thriller than Silence of the Lambs.
how tf is saving private ryan military propaganda? I hate when people slap "war propaganda" on ANY war movie that doesn't overtly say that war is terrible and bleak.

The Silence of the Lambs is an S tier for me. The Dark Knight and Interstellar are D. I wouldn't even put them that high if I had a choice. I think they're both hugely overrated movies. The only Chris Nolan film I like is Insomnia, which just so happens to be the only one of his films that he didn't write or co-write.

Botched Dark Knight otherwise everything else is solid.
Interstellar was such a garbage tier movie. I just don't understand what people see in it. That rediculous plot, drenched in unbearable melodramatic acting. Such a disappointment. It marked the point when Nolan starting going downhill fast.
Ive been saying
Only thing unbearable here is you mate. I hate “filmbros” like you so much. Even if somehow you didn’t like it, it’s impossible not to see how touching the story, and how wonderful the acting is. It plays with an absolutely original concept, and executes it nearly perfectly.
And the interstellar fans are even more annoying. 3.5/5 for me.

D: L.O.T.R., The Matrix, Dark Knight, One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest, 12 Angry Men, Forest Gump, It's A Wonderful Life, Shawshank Redemption
