Hey I'm sorry to hear about that. Hang in there and don't give up. Keep building your cv and applying. You just need one yes. It will make the 100 nos worth it!
Great video, but can you please make video on which job to choose after plab 2, non training or training what to chose , ????? And if we start non training job how long its take to get our crest form signed and switch into training job ?????
Great suggestion. Will put it on my list. Briefly it depends on whichever you want to go with. In the past I would've recommended non-training first and you could've gotten your crest signed off in 3 months or more depending on how fast you could demonstrate your competencies. However now I'd suggest apply for both training and non training and start whichever one you get first. You'll notice the waiting is so long that it's less of a choice and more of a take what you get.
Great video! But unfortunately, emailing a consultant is not the easiest way to get a clinical attachment because almost always consultants dont even reply.
If you do get into core surgical training then the trust sponsor's your atls. And atls is one of the more pricier courses. So I don't recommend doing it before hand.
It's alright. That's just one of the many things that you can do to boost your cv. Clinical experience, teaching, research, audits, exams. Focus on the things you can do. 👍
Hi reemghorab. I can't say sorry. Teach the teacher does have points on IMT application but I don't know if the one from your country meets the standards offered by the one in the UK. Perhaps ask a senior who has taken it and used it in their IMT application successfully.
Is it essential to have one's name appear as either the first or second author in research, such as a meta-analysis, or is it acceptable to be listed as the fourth or fifth author?
Great video .... I'm a fourth year med student and I just wanted to know that do distinctions and supplies and MBBS marks matter in CV.... Cuz I've heard it from some people that it does and some say it doesn't!
Great question Abdullah. Having a distinction matters to a small extent. You get a couple of points for it. However in my personal opinion they don't matter. You are better off focusing your efforts on research, audits, teaching projects, or even innovations but marks are the last thing medical students should worry about.
Thank you doctor great video. One question, without the clinical attachment, how much longer would you say it took for you compared to your colleagues to land a job? I’m afraid I might not be able to do an attachment financially and I’m afraid of this being a big problem. Thank you
Don't worry about it then. There are other ways to improve your CV. Keep in a clinical role. Try to do an audit or research or gain teaching experience in the background. Stay persistent. 👍
How to create a good NHS Profile ? New NHS is asking for UK pincode , India postcode is not accepted , so what should be done ? Please help me with this .
Please tell me how to use teaching feedback form. How many students you should give these form. Are they filled online or you give them printed. How it is proven that it is filled by your student
So you can take feedback from as many students as you want. No set rules. And show the feedback to the consultant in your home country. They then write up a letter on any official letter head stating they have analysed your feedback forms and can verify you participated in the mentioned teaching activity.
Does the participants of any of my presentations have to fillup the teaching feedback form manually in a print out copy (Hard copy)and then i will scan it and make it pdf? Or they can fill up the form by downloading in a soft copy version? R will i have to attached this form with my CV or just have to mention my presentation / teaching experience and when they will ask to show evidence than i will have to show them? Plz enlighten me.
They can either manually fill it in on or electronically. You don't need to send them with your CV but if they ask for evidence then you can always upload it.
Does making video explaining or teaching a certain disease like HTN or diabetes and so in a youtube channel considered a teaching experience? and if I have youtube channel should I mention it or it will be useless? Hi, i have two clinical attachments in the UK, one at the start of final year and one just after. It’s been two months since I’m applying and I’m a bit discouraged. Are these even helpful?
I'm sorry to hear that. The application process takes some time. 2 months is still very early. Keep trying. And like I said the process is multifactorial. Doing an elective doesn't guarantee you a spot it just increases your chances. I had to apply for several months and go through tons of rejections before securing my first job. It happens to all of us. Keep the faith and continue to build your CV. Your time will come too.

It's hard for me to say. Different specialties have different requirements on what they consider as acceptable. Core surgical training for example is very specific on the kind of evidence they accept. You don't need the individual feedback from the students though.
Not at the minute. But we are trying to come up with something along those lines if enough people request it. What would you be hoping to achieve from a 1:1 session if you don't mind me asking?
Hi Muhammad. Great question. The process is essentially the same. NHSjobs is the website that health professionals use to apply for healthcare roles from outside the UK. www.jobs.nhs.uk/new_nhs_jobs_website.html
They count towards experience so you'd be able to negotiate a higher salary. But my personal advise would be to try get a job as a teacher or a research assistant instead of an rmo.

@@amnaahmad7662 It's not like clinical experience doesn't count. That counts but there are other things that matter more. Hello Dr Wajih. how much is your take home salary and designation? I am working in casualty of a government Hospital in India as a medical officer since 7 years. At what level I can get a job in NHS. Designation? And Basic Pay would be ?
Hi Gaurav. I started at the most basic level. Right after FY1 (housejob) as an SHO. My take home after tax salary was 2000£. With 7 years experience you could potentially get a job as a medical registrar with a take home salary of 4100£ per month. This is excluding locum shifts and after taxes. Sorry i'm not sure about that myself. You could teach online but you need evidence of feedback as well. So if you normally do teach online get some of the audience to fill out a teaching feedback form available on the gmc website for all your lectures so you can provide evidence if asked to.
Hello doctor, it's a very informative video which will help a lot of IMGs. Doctor I have teaching experience of 1 year in a para medical college, will this experience help in anyway in building my CV?
Yes it will. I would advise you to gather as much evidence as you can with regards to your teaching experience. Have a consultant or professor fill out a teaching observation form.
