    Last month on my cross country drive I stopped for a few days in Denver to visit some of my friends that live there. They love to drive just as much as I do so we decided to take both of their F430 coupes out for a spirited drive. One of my friends had new tires arriving 2 days after our drive was planned because he had been driving the car so much the tires were bald. We were struggling to keep up with our friend in the other 430 because the wet roads made it almost impossible to keep traction. The video doesn't show how fast we are actually going but keep an eye out during the video and you'll see we are going at a pretty quick pace!
    Thankfully we narrowly missed so many objects like the guardrail, telephone pole, and oncoming traffic which was scaring me because I thought we were going to slide into the oncoming lanes!
    More videos to come of the car drifting, doing donuts, and having fun shredding the tires ;)
    Please leave a comment and subscribe.
    Enjoy!

    • @derbigpr500
      @derbigpr500 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, it wouldn't. Learn how the ESP work. Aggressively trying to counter is the last thing ESP would do.
      Tip: don't talk about thing you know nothing about. You can clearly see the manettino is on the 11-12 o'clock position, which is a sport setting most likely, or maybe a race setting, both of which keep the ESP turned on but only activate it when you really lose control, and it lets the car slide a bit. It's not a standard ESP setting that cuts in at the slightest trace of wheels slipping.

    A good driver would have kept the car in higher gears, especially in the corner, for smoother power delivery to prevent the loss of traction. By going down too many gears in the corner, the engine braking functioned like a handbrake.
    An experience driver would have instinctually spun the steering wheel left as soon as he lost traction, that slide could have easily been saved.

  • @bomberman0r
    @bomberman0r 9 ปีที่แล้ว +10

    He changed gear during the corner, and the car started hydroplaning not much he could do after that, but it was his mistake from the start. Do not cross your hands like that when steering the wheel, if the tyres found traction with hand crossed like that, you would end up in the opposite traffic lane. You were lucky anyway you didn't total it.

  • @CdH94
    @CdH94 10 ปีที่แล้ว +20

    Guys, the driver wasn't a bad driver at all. He had no trouble kicking the tail out and keeping the car in control many times earlier in the video. The accident happened when the car began to hydro-plane. No amount of Traction control, counter-steering, and throttle control could have saved it. Why? No front or rear grip. This wasn't driver error really.
    Stop being bench racers.

    • @Pogost1ck
      @Pogost1ck 10 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Well... almost. The driver could have known with the little remaining tread, standing water combined with his speed there was a risk of hydroplaning. Still, as soon as it happened there was nothing he could do.

  • @Exodus227
    @Exodus227 10 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Also another problem was the F430 started hydro-planing, that's when a layer of water builds up between the tires and road surface eventually getting thicker and thicker causing the car to have 0% grip. After this happens the car will keep sliding and will only stop if it either hits an obstruction or goes off road, the driver cannot do anything...

    This was good. I like how it gradually built the tension, though the pacing is a little bit questionable. The plot advances very slowly, which is uncommon, to say the least, for this genre. The cinematography, as other reviewers pointed out, is superb: I especially appreciate the found footage style, though it must be said that it is an expedient which tends to be overused. Nevertheless, it is used masterfully in this case. It adds to the suspense, which, again, is brilliantly conveyed.
    Unfortunately however, in the end it lacks gore, which is definitely something the audience usually seeks, and the climax is a bit of a disappointment.
    All in all, a good, solid first attempt, with great cinematography and thrilling stunts, ultimately let down by questionable pacing and a disappointing ending.
    Final verdict: 3.5 moons out of 5. 🌕🌕🌕🌗🌑

    Why all the hate? Although he is not the best of drivers, he's got the balls to take his Ferrari out in the wet while most stay in a heated garage. To be fair, he didn't see to be driving that fast or recklessly and the road was also quiet. Hope the car was alright.

    TLDR; 1. ALWAYS use performance tires with plenty of tread (not slicks or near bald) and that perform well on wet roads (especially when on an open road and when water could be present), 2. Never disable Traction control/ESC unless on a slow/closed course.... Follow these and save lives

  • @dragoonuvl
    @dragoonuvl 11 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I think the issue is a combination of lift off over-steer and the engine dropping down into a lower gear which gave the rear wheels more torque than needed. I'm wondering if he could of saved it by mashing the accelerator for a short burst of power to get the rear end all the way around and perform a 360 and continue on in a slower gear. Either way he's lucky the car hit the grass scuff marks and scratches are better than a replacement door.

    I think that's great that you drive your Ferrari hard. And when you do, some things can happen. You reacted quickly enough not to crash and that's great.
    There are so many videos of posers driving their Ferraris 5mph along the boulevards, drag racing, doing burnouts, donuts etc. Anyone can do that. Driving fast through corners is difficult. But you can do it. Respect!
