As a former Tomboy, I cringe at these parents and feel so sad for their kids. Its sickening, and to affirm a lie is not compassion, its abuse. I was jealous of my brother being able to pee standing up when I was about 4, I heard a doctor recently say this is a trans symptom - WTAF, are these people on. The pendulum will swing back I hope, and these people will pay dearly for their crimes against kids.

I absolutely agree with the sentiment that, regardless of your child's identity, "It's just hair, it will grow back." Allowing a child to choose the length of their hair is such a simple way in which they can express themselves. I went to school with kids who were allowed to have their hair temporarily dyed funky colours, over the summer (or use hair chalks etc...) I thought that was a terrific idea! I never knew if I was allowed, because I never asked, but my parents let me keep my hair long, even though it was a nightmare to tame (my Mum was not allowed to do so, when she was young). Restyling your hair or experimenting with colour, is not the same as getting a tattoo. And whilst it does grow back and colours fade, it makes such a difference to the way that one feels in and of themselves. I am dyspraxic, which means I have sensory processing issues and I have always felt safer in stressful situations, being able to hide behind my hair and wrap myself up in it. I think I would feel exposed, for want of a better adjective, if it was cut short. I remember how anxious I felt, knowing people my age whose parents made them have it at a length they didn't like.
Few people would quibble the right of a child to choose their own clothes, as they get older and are able to dress themselves. Making decisions about one's appearance is important. Children are not mere extensions of their parents - as individuals they should be allowed to carve out the shape they wish to take in this world and it's oft the smallest of things that matter the most.
My body is mine and so is my hair. 😊

@@yvonnecopithorne192It isn't my place to pass judgement on Dexter's identity or his mother's life with him. Why can't I find parallels that may help us all to understand diversity in others and ourselves, better? I am not insisting that you agree with me.

Why is Brittain so obsessed w/ changing a child's gender? So let him grow into his own, let them decide at the right age. Shame on you parents. Honestly. Jail time for neglect, abuse, munch houser or something. Dexter was a serial killer by the way. 😢

So because her child didn't want to wear dresses and wanted to wear superhero clothes, she started telling the child that they're a boy. That's crazy. That poor child being confused by her mentally disturbed mother.

My sister sent her childhood saying she is a boy and my parents did not call her a boy . She is a girl and married now with kids and does not even remember that phase that lasted 5 or more years . She thinks she was a kid

For loving their kid? For allowing their kid to be??? You need to know, that life has a very funny way to make us learn our lessons. Who knows, maybe someone close to you will go through this so you can learn to have a little empathy for others instead of being a hateful troll.

The two year old child did not like Mum's choice of clothing. Has Mum not heard of the terrible twos? I couldn't stop laughing when Mum said he loves to help with the children in her daycare centre. Hmmmmm sounds rather girlish!!!!

You're daughter is a tomboy. The fact that Talia decided to call herself Dexter and said I want to be a boy is similar to something with me. I thought I was a girl when I was at that age and wanted to go by Druella. If I recall, my parents rolled with it to an extent but they never started treating me like a girl. Rather, a boy playing pretend. Then I got into her nail polish, painted my nails red, and then we went to a neighbors house. Mom and the neighbor told me that's a thing girls do. Well, that was that. My mom wasn't wrong though. I'm not a repressed trans person. In fact, I'm proud that I'm well-endowed (8inx8in).

After having seen so many stories about detransitioning I question what is actually the right thing to do ( I think as long as no hormone blockers or surgery are used witch is irreversible, to just be very cautious about what is the right thing to do about gender dysphoria as that is exactly what it is ,it’s a dysphoria and confusion and best to not do anything that is permanent)
