- Today, we review one of the Fleet Feet Review Team’s most anticipated updates of 2024 - the New Balance SC Trainer v3.
The updated super trainer from New Balance comes with a new PEBA-blend FuelCell midsole for more pep in your step while adding durability for a true daily trainer experience underfoot.
The upper has been enhanced with a padded tongue and the same Fantomfit mesh technology used in the SC Elite v4 for breathability.
In other words, we think this shoe can do it all from track workouts to marathon race day.

I been waiting on this since I got my new 1080 v13s, I have the v1 and v2 I also have the SCE v4 the Fresh Foam x more v4s the Rebel v4s and a pair of the 1080 v12s I am a New Balance Junkie I will be updating all of these and getting the new Balos as well!
Also, am I imagining it or was Brandon part of Believe in the Run awhile back?
Looking forward to giving this version a try. The v.2 was a bit too heavy for me, so I'm happy to see that they lightened it up a bit. Love my SC Elite v.4, but it will be nice to have a less expensive option for my long runs and workouts.

v1 was better than v2, hopefully this one is similar to v1 than 2

@fleetfeet699 I may check it out but with competition coming out with several other comparables to the og SC trainer v1 (Neo Vista, skyward X to name a couple) and being so disappointed with the v2 sc trainer, I'm a bit gun shy of the v3. But as a NB fan I'll at least try it on and see in store impression.

Hey Nate here. I actually didn’t get to test this one (😢) BUT I’ve found that NB uppers generally work for me and I’ve kept and still run in last years model.
I didn’t realize they have a wide foot reviewer! I’m about to dive into Nate’s archives haha
Was beginning to think there would be no v3. Not sure it was needed anyway
Can NB make the Trainer last longer? My v2 bottomed out at 50 miles.
mine did too, I like my v1 better it probably has 400 miles on it and I still walk 8-10 miles a day in them
This review said a whole bunch of nothing. More of an ad than a review.

Good question. With the SC Trainer v3 you are higher off the ground and get some great rigidity from the plate for long cruising miles. The Rebel is a great uptempo daily trainer and more speed focused! - Brandon

No mention of how the foam compares to the v2? Is it slightly firmer and more responsive (I get that impression)?
Caroline found the v3 to be a touch firmer and more responsive than the v2 but overall, a similar bouncy ride.
Could work for high arch?

More of a daily trainer. Softer and more cushioned while the Speed 4 is more aggressive. - Brandon
