planning to implement something like this in my notion life planner. i have a self-improvement database, which is structured into different aspects of my life, much like the "buckets" in this tutorial, so setting up time blocks for those aspects would be wonderful to actually get me to work on them, right now they unfortunately just kind of exist and don't do much, apart from making me realise i haven't really been following any of my hobbiea due to uni stress 😅
Excellent video, can you do a detailed video exactly how you set up getting the time taken to work. Can you have a pause. i.e you are working on something and you have to stop to help a colleague or take an important call.
Sure thing! I have a video here actually that explains two methods - Notion has a few new features that make implementing it a bit easier, but the basic principles (particularity for your use case) still hold true: Time-Tracking in Notion: 2 Best Methods in 2023 th-cam.com/video/ovmeNfs4R3k/w-d-xo.html
@@mfreihaendig Many thanks. From what I can see this is better than you previous video as the database buttons mean you do not need a separate "time entries" database, have I got that correct? If I was checking the time I spent on a task and I got interrupted or it took more than one work session could I start and stop the first period of work and then create sub tasks for further periods of work on that task and roll up the total time to the task record?
@@Smaffs59 yes, you could use sub-tasks or use the approach with the separate time entries database. Either way, you can have an unlimited amount of work entries per task and calculate the sum
@@mfreihaendig But just so I have it correct here. The method in this video does not use a separate time entries database? One last question as I am new to this. If I have a task and it is related to a project it pulls in the project name. Can I pull in other fields from the project into the task? Could be the client name that the project is related to, and in that case could it do it if the Client is a related database to the project or just a field in the project. Hope that makes sense
Yeah Notion can be a tough learning curve 😅 what’s your biggest blocker? Here‘s a good starting point otherwise 😇 th-cam.com/video/DaVY04Dxaic/w-d-xo.html
@@mfreihaendig I would love to click a checkbox on the notion calendar to mark a task as done or changing it status or some other property, on a notion database. More automation, I guess that would be great!
Great template! Does it actually block the slots in my Google calendar? If I put the effort into planning my perfect week, it'll be great to block the planned slots, avoiding someone is scheduling a meeting at those times.
Is it easier to add the bulk tasks for the week and then place them at their times separately when in calendar ? As opposed to just adding a day and time in notion?
@@mfreihaendig I agree but in my persepective it feels like making this single template free seems like a good option because ideal week method is the fundamental of any other productivity techniques. if possible make it free. but it is your choice because you are the creator. BTW thankyou for the reply
Thanks for this, it would look cool integrated into the Tasks (activity) and Projects (bucket) database.
Oh yes, that’s would be a great addition too 💪🏻

I love you both😊 though still struggling with Notion big times😮

@@mfreihaendig that I have an idea of my perfect tracker I want to build but I fear it would take hours/days to create; thanks for the link🙏
Any Notion Calendar update our roadmap News?
Thanks
Not yet - what part are you waiting for? 💪🏻

Your Notion databases don't sync with Google Cal. They will only show up in Notion Cal
Thanks!
Yeah as pointed out, Notion calendar doesn’t sync unfortunately in that way :-/
It only shows on the same display
machst du das auch alles genau so wie du es planst, oder läuft der tag trotzdem so ab, als gebe es garkeinen plan?

Yes, much easier! Just drag and drop instead of a lot of clicks. Plus, you have the immediate visual indicator for everything 💪🏻
Great effort. I must admit that you are a master of notion. But I have a kind request: Why don't you make this only template free to use Please 😊
Creating all this content takes a lot of work and I need to pay my bills somehow 😅 99% of my templates are free though! ☺️
