This is pretty insane... Didn't think it would arrive so soon or quite so neatly. Do you suppose we could build a Notion-First invoice system and integrate it with stripe..? In my head I don't see why not. The invoice is connected to a client, so we have their contact info. We send everything Stripe needs, wait for that to get done, and then in our API we target the original notion invoice and just update it with 'sent', stripe transaction url/id whatever. I'm wondering about the feasibility of this sort of thing and whether there's a point in doing it. I tend to overcomplicate things, so just exploring ideas in my head for now....
Hmm. Follow up question. In the world of GDPR do you think there's any way in which you can create Templates that have automations. The automations target an API you build to help your clients/template users to do w/e the automation is meant to do? I think this would be tricky territory but I haven't researched it in-depth yet. But I guess you sort of become a data-processor at that point :/
Great video! I’ve been using Notion for years and had no idea about the ability to send web hooks! Very good explanations as well. You have a new subscriber!
Hi @@mfreihaendig I enter my supervision of student work (final theses, project work, etc.) in Notion. I have a workflow in which various tasks are taken over after entering via Make: - Confirmation to the student that I am taking over the work - For first-time supervisors, information with checklists and templates (in Notion) is automatically sent. - A OneDrive folder is created, named and saved in the Notion data record. - The invoice for the subsequent settlement is created in the invoice DB. So with the webhook i can trigger the workflow directly so that i havn't to trigger it manual in make (to save money :-D)
@@mfreihaendig I Dear Matthias, As a lecturer at a university, I have the responsible task of supervising students with their term papers and theses and guiding them through this important academic process. For each new supervision I undertake, I maintain careful documentation in Notion, systematically and thoroughly recording all necessary data. Through the combination of this structured data and Make, I automate the entire email communication process, whether it's documentation for the examination service or information and coordination with students. This includes sending important forms and detailed initial information that are essential for successfully completing academic work. The integration of webhooks has enabled significant progress in my workflow - instead of manually opening Make and starting the workflow there, I can now trigger all necessary processes directly in Notion with a simple button click, which greatly increases the efficiency of my work. I would therefore like to expressly thank you for reliably and comprehensibly presenting this important innovation, as is characteristic of you. I will implement the webhooks into my system at the beginning of the new year. As an enthusiastic follower of your channel, I particularly appreciate that you are my central source for updates and information about Notion. The consistently positive feedback I receive from colleagues and students to whom I've recommended your excellent introductory tutorials confirms your outstanding work. It is therefore particularly important to me to pass on this appreciative feedback to you! I sincerely wish you and your family peaceful and restful Christmas holidays and a harmonious and successful start to the new year. Best regards Erik
Hi Matthias! I LOVE how you explain the technical things so my brain gets it 🤣! I have a question about the new forms. I have a Notion form that collects requests for video feedback from me from my Notion Navigators members. As of now we can't create properties in the forms that are invisible for anyone filling in the form. But I would love to have a simple way with the new webhooks to transfer all the data from the form db to another db that I can add different properties to. (Like date I gave the feedback, status, url for the video feedback, url for the link in the membership etc.) Would love to hear what solution you would have for this? Thank you so much in advance! Greetz from Amsterdam, Jakolien
You could transfer that even without webhooks - the normal db automations are enough for that 💪🏻 But you can also create properties that are not visible. When sharing a form, you don’t need to give access to the underlying database, so whatever you don’t include as an answer option is hidden 💪🏻
@@mfreihaendig Ah! I see! I worked from the Form to the DB and didn't know that if I add to the DB it wouldn't be visible on the form because I had heard it couldn't be done yet? Assumptions are the mother of all F ups 🤦🏻♀ Thank you for answering so quickly! Highly appreciated ツ
Forgot to mention one thing: all requests are sent as POST requests 💪🏻

Oh thank you! Glad to hear that 😇
And well, webhooks have been out for 24 hours now, so nothing you missed for long 😅
@@mfreihaendig lol, i realized after submitting my comment that your video was just posted. Glad I'm not getting too far behind!
Can you use notion webhooks for your invoice generator ? And how would it work
Excited to see the follow up video to keep two databases synced 🙏
Hopefully getting to it soon! 😇
playing this on background while working on Notion :)
Haha nice! Should I start releasing lo-fi mixes? 😎
Finally!! 🔥🔥🔥
Oh yes 😍😍
Great video! What are you currently using to build those reports for clients?
It’s just my standard stack of Notion and make.com 😇
Fantastic Video!!
Thank you! 😇
Great. This will improve my work as university teacher when processing applications and grades. ❤
Oh interesting! How would you integrate it? 😇

Hi matthias thank for your video! Can you be make another version with Zapier for people not familiar with make?
Same idea there - just search for the webhook trigger 😇
Got a short explanation on the blog too:

Is it possible to connect it to WhatsApp business to send a message to a specific number when something happens in the database?
Yes! That would def be possible using webhooks plus make or relay 💪🏻
I know how can do that by using another software let me know if you need help to perform that.
nice, finally!
Oh yes! 😍
how many months I was waiting for it...
What’s the first thing you‘ll use it for? 😍
Por favor los subtitulos😢
Doesn’t it auto-generate? 🥲
@mfreihaendig nop, 😭
I can see them auto generated
Wow!!
Right? 😍
unfortunally just for PRO users but a nice add tho
Yep, definitely something for more advanced ones 😇
Whoop
Whoop whooooop 🔥
