I’ve made the shift to product design for the past 3 years and oh boy it’s as stressful as my previous career. Design is still an underdog, we’re doing far more work than product managers and engineers and we’re the least paid and respected. No one knows how to measure design heck not even designers making it harder to get promoted 😢
Great video as always! It would be helpful to see some content on how to structure a design review presentation. Is it acceptable to simply open up figma and show the designs/ changes, or should there be a more formal approach with a slide deck?
Good video. I am a product analyst and it’s rather similar to what you explained about projects and politics. There are even more complex tools and data details to consider. And I also have to QA the engineers’ implementation of the design so that the metrics reflect the reality of what’s available for users to do and what data is actually being tracked. I think product is just always hard af.
So here’s a question; can an introvert with social anxiety still be a successful Product Designer? I’m very detailed and super ambitious, but when it comes to presentations or just speaking to large groups of people, I struggle a lot.
I am in the same boat as you. I just figured that I would HAVE TO overcome SAD because there is no place for people like us in the world. It's hard feels impossible but we got no choice.
I think politics is what kills everything in this industry. It’s just people showing off to try to step up the ladder and no real respect for designers.

One thing i hate about this is, the political side of it. It is never ending political narcissism.
