- There are 16 secret audio recordings for Vanessa / Vanny to be found throughout the mega pizza plex in Five Nights at Freddy's: Security Breach. These recordings provide some interesting information which expands Vanessa's backstory and her motives as Vanny under Glitchtrap's control. In this video we listen to these audio logs and analyze each one, explaining the lore behind them.

OK everyone so the last 2 recordings are glitched but people have hacked the game and unlocked them. I won't obviously remake the entire video this close to Christmas so here are the contents of the final 2 recordings and my thoughts on them.
REC 15 - The therapist talks with Vanny about how technicians at the Mega Pizzaplex have found evidence that she uploaded a glitch into the system and this glitch took hold of the animatronics and began corrupting them. Vanny finds this funny as she is obviously under Glitchtrap's control.
(Basically what we predicted after recording 14).
There is no direct evidence to link vanny to this but the therapist informs her she is being monitored by Fazbear Entertainment, who cannot currently contain the glitch.
(This is obviously Glitchtrap in their system).
Finally in this audio log the therapist references that Vanny seems facinated with pictures of a rabbit mask.
(She ends up buying this to go with the previously ordered body suit and complete the costume).
REC 16 - This recording centres around the therapist calling out Vanessa / Vanny for lying about her past. She never had a troubled childhood or father named Bill. In fact she had nice parents.
(This obviously changes my perspective of Vanessa and suggests she simply fell victim to Glitchtrap while beta testing as she enjoyed escaping reality. Her father's name Bill is short for William and as we assume William Afton is Glitchtrap it is logical to conclude that Afton planted the lie in Vanessa's mind and forced her to pass it on to her therapist.)
The rest of the video and analysis is unaffected by these final two recordings, so no real revisions are required. But for those asking the above synposis and thoughts relate to the missing bugged recordings I couldn't access for this video.

#16 is REALLY fascinating to me, since that indicates that Vanessa is not in fact the child of William Afton and has no connection to him at all. She doesn't even remember who she is anymore, and that raises the issue of who Gregory really is, and what their real connection is, if any. Lots of little details and matters left for future exposition, perhaps in other games? Maybe Vanessa was possessed as a result of the mobile Princess I game?
@@BerserkGoblin It's literally the story of the game - I didn't write it. It isn't really Dissociative identity disorder either is it, since it's glitchtrap controlling one side of Vanessa. It just looks like DID to her therapist, so even the writers themselves aren't villanising the disorder.
Does a secret message from that CD that he was very very quiet and also you need to turn that up and hear that right all right
Did anyone else notice that when the therapists start trying to actually get more information about the messages or anything to do with glitchtrap, she gets a new therapist?
Thats why they go missing, its glitchtraps doing so people wont try to stop him.

I noticed something about the therapists when they spoke to both Vanessa and Vanny. With Vanessa they talk to her like she is an adult, while Vanny is often treated like a child. It could explain why she is playing Hide and Seek with Gregory, and why she skips about. It could also explain why she is manipulated by Afton more easily. (For this discussion the term I want to use is Alternate Persona to describe Vanny/Vanessa. If possible please avoid D.I.D or related terms. Mostly to avoid the negative association with the disorder and because this type of trope needs its own naming convention)
Alters can be all different ages in DID.

It could be because she found the mask back when she was a kid, so glitchtrap 100% got that version of her to stay as a kid

What if she's possessed by Elizabeth? Elizabeth was a child when she died, which would explain why Vanny is so childlike. And it would explain the story Vanny told about her father "Bill". The name Bill is short for William. It would also explain why the therapist, when analysing Vanessa's actual childhood, pointed out that this story never actually happened (to Vanessa anyway).

Vanny seems to get overwhelmed by things very easily, likely a result of both the possession, but also might have a more “childish” personality due to the trauma
I have DID and i have an alter similar to her personality wise, childish and easy to manipulate, because she’s traumatized by what happened to us as a child. Might be something like that, where she’s mentally still a child
Welp, turns out Vanessa didn't have a horrible childhood, she lied about it (this is confirmed in another CD) and she actually had a great one. I feel like Glitchtrap manipulated her into thinking one of William's kid's childhoods was hers, it makes sense with the dad's name being Bill and the mum's name being corrupted

Out of all of the therapists, I feel the most sympathy for the 3rd one. Just something about the dialogue makes me think the therapist was starting to make progress. If that's the case, I've got a feeling that she was the one who was found.

Wait, how do you guys know it was the 3rd therapist that was found..? The 4th therapist only said that there were 2 therapist that were missing and 1 was found dead, but they never mentioned which therapists were the ones missing and/or which was found dead

Fun fact: it is extremely possible the story did not originally contain these tapes. There is evidence that the story changed before the first trailer and last trailer. Originally, Vanny is heard saying, "Gregory, you're friends are worried about you," a line she never says. In the same trailer, Vanessa says, "They wont stop hunting you. None of them will stop hunting you," showing that Vanessa might have been a helper like Freddy. Also, the teasers for Vanessa say Protect, more evidence of this.
Definitely, the Game still seems rushed both in some gameplay departments and story such as many places in the pizza plex being underutilized, and the trailers potraying a slightly different story and plot than the game, the games story also seems incomplete to me
Yeah, that's honestly something I've been thinking of. I feel like Vanessa wasn't fleshed out as much in the final games. I was hoping that she'd play some sort of risky ally role where you'd have to avoid her in her Vanny state (if they really are the same person)

We don’t know what the true ending is at the moment. I believe it’s either the Afton Ending or the other ending with Freddy, Vanessa, and Gregory

I think the third therapist was probably the best out of the four also- switching therapists so suddenly cannot be good for her already shattered mental state.
Vanessa is definitely one of the victims of this, afton corrupted part of her mind. She doesn’t know half of what she does as Vanny. Poor woman

The third one is better but you can tell she's still trying to lead Vanessa/Vanny into answering/giving certain answers...she's just a lot more subtle and "nicer" about it.
There's an interesting moment where the static breaks up every so often and the audio dips--as if the recorder was stopped and restarted. It happens several times throughout the CDs. Maybe we aren't getting the whole story?

whenever Vanny is dancing, reality and vision is blurry, which is strange. However, the static is there in place of using cassette tapes, I've never heard of such static from CD's in my life and I'm from the 90s. CD's with static usually means they're too old or damaged, but not because of the recording was bad.

Vanny seems to have age regression due to childhood trauma. Explains why she skips around and plays hide and seek. As well as why she's easy to manipulate by glitchtrap

I saw MatPat’s recent Game Theory video and remember how he had a small theory that Vanessa was Elizabeth or had some kind of deep connection/resemblance. Maybe Vanny is that sort of connection? Since Liz is a child
I heard somewhere that glitchtrap implemented the mind of elizabeth into vannessa's mind, therefore making vanny a killer, as that was what baby desired: to continue her fathers legacy as a killer

Whether that's just because of Elizabeth/Vanny's own childish innocence or that something ELSE originating from a young girl he victimized following to continue to oppose him however, I can't really say.

When you’re talking to I an adult in therapy you try to talk to them seriously, if they see you treating them like a child or joking about “getting put in time out” they’ll think you’re not taking them seriously and treating it as a joke. So these therapists knew when they were talking to Vanessa vs Vanny and new how differently to talk to each
If you listen to the last 2 cds, you find out that the story about her father isn’t true, between that revelation and the fact that glitch trap accessed her personnel files makes me think she isn’t afton’s daughter, but he has manipulated her into believing she is.
Yeah but she was talking to Vanny not Vanessa. Vanessa said things about her father. So if these guys know they are talking to a Split Persona wouldn’t they tell that to Vanessa and Not Vanny. Vanessa the One Who seemingly Lied. Unless Vanny told a similar sounding backstory. Which means they both Lied. But why address this to Vanny.

I don’t know the best way to explain this so I’ll try my best. The mother was Metaphorically Vanessa, The father is metaphorically William and the daughter is metaphorically Vanny.
Vanessa would be the abused mother trying to rain in her subconscious which would be vanny. William is tampering with her mind by placing false information into her head making her seem unstable.
I don’t know if that make much sense.
So metaphorically Vanny would be Williams daughter not biological.
Another way to think of it is that Vanessa was actually telling the truth and her father did manipulate her. It’s just pure coincidence that her father is also named William which could be why glitch trap went after her because he could easily mess with her mind and make her think she is her father because he’s just that crazy
In Vanessa's recordings (-71), she always talks to the therapist and, despite talking like a doll sometimes, doesn't talk about anything suspicious, other than suspicious emails. Its also said that she'll be moving.
Where as in Vanny's recordings (-46), its always a one side conversation. Plus she is the only one the therapists talk to about hacking, or murders. It also says she doesn't work at the pizzaplex.
The only thing that breaks the "they are different people" arguement is tape 11-7145 (recording 11) where the therapist talks to Vanessa about getting fake fur. Implying that she's starting on the vanny suit, although not confirmed it's specificly the Vanny suit.
The Suit Vanny wears doesn’t look like it’s made out of Fur, more like an Flis or something along that line same stuff the Animatronic costumes are made of
My theory: Vanny and Vanessa are sisters, possibly twin sisters. Vanny is the one controlled by glitchtrap, and Vanessa got the job at the Pizza Plex to try and find out what happened to her sister.

In one of the tapes Vanessa said she "Compartmentalize him" makes me believe that she is the Tape Girl from Help Wanted and Vanny Is the Player Character. Okay so Check this out what if Vanny and Vanessa are actually not Twins But Sisters one Older and One slightly younger or they are mother and Daughter. Vanessa had manage to stop Glitchtrap by breaking him up in the log tapes but had to go to therapy to deal with the Trauma. But her Family member Vanny uses her Company Computer to play the game and Accidentally free Glitchtrap.(This would explain why Vanessa is getting all tje emails that says she doing strange activities on her computer because a family member was using it. Using her Account without Vanessa knowing.) Vanessa sends Vanny to the Same Therapist she has to help but has not yet reliaze Vanny has been completly been taken over. But she eventually did or believes she is connected to Glitchtrap or she is Aware Glitchtrap has taken over her family member and is trying to keep her safe until she can find a way to to help her. Once Vanessa moves to a New Job at The Pizzaria Plex becacuse Glitchtrap Vanny had to come with her.
Vanessa the Security Guard who is Tape Girl is on a Mission to save her Daughter or Sister Vanny who is the Player Character from Glitchtrap.
The way glitchtrap manipulates Venessa is kinda like how her dad manipulated her as a child could also explain why she acts childlike as vanny
The final discs confirmed that never happened. It's something Glitchtrap added to her file.
Plus alternate personalities are indeed able to be separate ages mentally, so Vanny is quite likely a child-like personality, very easily manipulated, especially from someone who knows how to be a father figure that she didn’t have a good experience with

The voice of 1st therapist sounded so soothing, but the 3rd therapist sounded more relatable and down to earth.

Personally, I think these audio logs between Vanessa and her therapist are my favorite part of the game. Not only do they contain so much lore about Vanessa/Vanny, but they're also just legit creepy.
One thing I like about the recordings are actually sounds like closing the shades or moving the vase of flowers. It’s such a nice addition to detail

An overwhelming thing that I get from these tapes is that the voice actress for Vanessa/Vanny is REALLY good at making you think she is sitting in a therapists room, whereas the therapists sound literally like they are reading a script, their voices just sound dry and unconcerned.

I feel so bad for Vanessa, falling victim to a long dead child killer in the form of a glitch, being manipulated by him and she definitely was terrified of the results if she had disobeyed him.

A theory I have for the lie Vanny gave about her past is that it's actually some sort of metaphor for what actually happened
Her split personality is treated much more like a child, while her proper personality is treated like an adult, thus the mom in her fake story actually refers to herself, and her talking about herself as a child is actually referring to Vanny. Finally, the manipulate father naked Bill, short for William, is likely in fact a stand in for William Afton
Afton forced Vanny to do things for her, possibly even tell things that weren't real to the people around her, likely lies about her proper personality since that is the stand in for the "mother" her "father" made her tell lies about
The "Custody Battle" is actually a mental battle within her own mind, with her proper personality and Glitchtrap fighting for control over Vanny, as her proper personality doesn't want Glitchtrap to have control over any part of her
And finally, we hear that Bill ended up winning the custody battle and something unknown happened to her mother. This symbolizes that Vanessa lost and perhaps the glitch in the tape is her refusing to admit it to herself, and now Afton has full control over her mind

@@maxzapsgamingzepzeap2337 this and the fact that her “dads” name was Bill (short for William) makes me think that she might be possessed by Baby which makes even more sense considering the fact that in some cases the therapist says that she seemed to be the one manipulating which falls in line with the books.
This makes me think about the ending where Vanny is killed and Vanessa stand on top the building looking down. Maybe when Vanny is killed, the "Vanessa" we see isn't real, but her other identity spilt off looking down at her real body on the ground, like a ghost. It's probably dumb, but its just a thought, considering the tapes reveal Vanny and Vanessa are one.

I was thinking about this one a lot they did look quite different though. There was another theory that they were to physically different people by Rsault because Vanessa had just gotten out of the fire exit in sense of ghosts aren't affected by fire and the ghost in theory should next to the body hovering in shadowy tone.

All of these therapists are very toxic. Pressuring her to talk about scary subjects when she’s not ready, guilt tripping her into talking by saying she will cause them job loss, going through her online search history without asking. If only Vanessa got therapist that wasn’t associated her company. She maybe could have been saved.

The third therapist was the only good one who actually seemed to care about their patient. She even offered Vanessa to visit at her own time, without the company forcing her to go. If Vanessa wasn't possessed yet, I feel like she would've made progress. The others just seemed like interogaters.

Yeah but that search history was on company property, it’s not like she was at home searching it up. And the devices she used and possibly the wifi she had to obtain may have belonged to the company, meaning they had every right to search her history. Although it is disrespectful. Think of it like back when you were a student, when your given a chrome book but yet have your own account. That school can look at your history any time they please.
I think Vanny had all the therapist killed because they came to know too much about Vanny and some even knew Vanessa's mother. Vanny knew she couldn't replicate Vanessa's backstory sense she herself had a decent childhood.
I feel like the "I could be put in the corner for a time out" is kinda significant, that doesn't feel like something you'd say if you were talking to an adult, but it does seem like something you'd say to a young kid who's frame of reference for punishment are time outs/being grounded.
I was thinking that. Mike keeps saying Vanny is "more confident" but I instead got the impression that she is childlike: the bright light agitates her, the flowers agitate her, she asks for candy, the first therapist talks to her about "cubby holes" and "time out" and she laughs about the thought of her therapist getting "put in time out". She seems to act more like a child - even when you take into account Vanny's cheerful skipping as she "walks"

Thank you someone pointed this Out. Yes Vanny seem to be Very Young in her Therapy sessions. The Therapists says she has a Skill with technology and explains what a Hacker means. So she someone who freakishly good with Tech but dont know what tech words means. (Probably Glitchtrap influence) In Cd 14 the techs are convinced she hack into their system many times but they have no proof but it a Gut feeling. They ask her if she know what Pizzaria Plex is But obviously she should if she works there as a Security guard. Seem like What they are trying to say is the a Vanny who is a Child has Hack into their system but since she so Young the possibility of that being a Thing is ridiculous. But they can’t deny the fact that when she there something with their Tech always goes wrong. Not enough evidence to bring her in for questioning but enough to be a Strange Coincidence.

The therapist also points out to patient 46 (since now I legitimately can’t be certain who this person is, I’ll call this person by the disk number) that a performance review system is in place in this company. A child should not understand why refusing to answer questions would lead to the therapist being in trouble, but a sophisticated mind would. This implies that both the patient and the therapist works at the same company, and the patient acknowledges this. So even tho the patient acts childishly, that is definitely not a child. A child does not work. Conclusion? The patient acts childishly, but is definitely an adult.
I need to point out that "Bill" is a common nickname for William. And the actions of Vanessa's dad sound an awful lot like something William Afton would do. Not to mention Vanessa's hoodie in the True Ending is a vivid shade of purple...

Here’s a perspective:
Vanessa is the more mature, grown up personality that dominated her life due to her having grown out of her childhood quite early, whilst Vanny is the personality of that childhood taken away from Vanessa, which would explain all of the childish mannerisms of Vanny, and why she sounds like everything she says is rehearsed; I mean, her father literally told her what to say about her mother as a young child. Childhood trauma can very easily lead to life-long mental issues, including multiple or split personalities. I’m speaking from personal experience about childhood trauma-I have ptsd, anxiety, depression, and Androphobia due to multiple horrifying events caused by my biological father-so Vanessa is a great example of this subject, and I like how the developers and writers incorporated a real world subject into the FNAF franchise without the use of multiple paranormal aspects. Anywho, I’ll finish this rant with this: Vanessa was not a villain; she was a scarred and manipulated girl from birth, and never had the freedom to make her own choices concerning her childhood or working environment.
I’m sorry about your biological father and what he did and how it impacted you. I like your perspective on Vanessa/Vanny, I agree that childhood trauma and manipulation led to her mental health issues and split personalities. I hope that you can live the life you want to even with your trauma.

What I think about it, Vanny isn’t physically controlled, I think that William is speaking to her in her head, and since she is essentially a child she is easy to manipulate and do and say what told.

One of the log's you get during the game mentions that Vanessa was requested to be hired to the Pizzaplex from someone up top. With the knowledge that she was preparing these plans while still at the other job, I think it's decently safe to say that her "hiring" was a trick to get her where she needed to be to finish restoring Afton.
They did a spectacular job with these recordings. They managed to show how therapist can have the same goal but different methods when it comes to a certain patient. It brings awareness to mental trauma a child can develop during parents divorcing, child abuse…I applaud everyone who worked on this part of the game for such in depth and..raw emotions from a traumatic past. I don’t think I’ve ever come across a game that has done such an incredible job like this before.

Am I the only one who thinks that Vanessa knowing exactly how many calories were in the sweet could show a history of ED?
It could also explain how she was so easily controlled. I’m studying anorexia for a psychology assignment so I don’t know much about other eating disorders like bulimia or purge eating, but people with anorexia generally have low self esteem which then leads them to have distorted views of themselves (believing that they’re overweight when they’re actually underweight etc.). People with low self esteem are easily manipulated so it’d make sense if Vanessa had low self esteem, and the comment about the candy either be hinting towards an ED or could just be she’s careful about what she eats. But there’s no doubt about the fact that she had low self esteem

The fact that vanny recalls vennessas past like a book and practices self dialogue may indicate that that side is more glitch trap than Vanessa. Afton is playing pretend behind Vanessa's regressed side , of course he wouldn't remember someone else's childhood so he probably manipulated Vanessa into telling him so he could answer the questions the therapist was asking. He made a mistake of not sounding completely invested in what's supposed to be a personal story.

I’m really happy to see Mike treat the situation with respect since a lot of these recordings very much imply that Vanny is a personality or an alter stemmed from trauma and the effects of glitchtrap. Vanny reminds me of a child. I think Vanny might have split from Vanessa to originally give Vanessa a child like mentality/side but glitchtrap is manipulating vanny and by doing that is making Vanessa trust him too.

What do they say?
I'll point out that in recording 10, it is Vanessa. The recordings are marked with numbers indicating the patient being consulted. 71 being Vanessa and 46 being someone else. We don't hear patient 46 say anything at all. So we don't know if it really is Vanessa's Glitchtrap infested side.
I hate Vanessa's boss. You don't switch someone's therapist without notifying them. If they have trouble dealing with new and unexpected things, it could be extremely problematic
Things I noticed about the second therapist:
She clearly doesn't care about Vanessa's trauma, and is bringing up something that happened *YEARS* ago.
She's pitying Vanessa, instead of sympathising.
She didn't take Vanny's being easily overstimulated very well. "They *are* particularly fragrant today aren't they? I'll move them" what sounds like 4 inches away from its original position.
She's harsher on Vanessa than she is with Vanny, but she's still pretty rude and unsympathetic.
"You just sit there and be comfy. You're not? That *chair* doesn't really *fit* you, does it? Well, this won't take long" Again, unsympathetic and dismissive about the over/under/lack of stimulation.
I think the reason they’re switching her therapists might be because Vanny killed them so they get her a new one.

I don’t think Afton is “back” as in his soul back from the dead. I think that the coding he used for the naturally aggressive and non-possessed robots is designed to function as a virus, spreading to hardware and why the animatronics in SB are so savage. It’s designed to continue his work in the event that he dies. Perhaps it’s designed to conglomerate into one figure and retake a form in his image. It would also explain why the robot conglomeration of molten Freddy and other animatronics have collected into one place. They have no souls to lose.
On the flip side, there’s a chance that, with Golden Freddy’s inability to let “the demon to his demons,” it may have left a door open for Afton to crawl his way out of hell and continue his work himself.
Side note, I think the kindly third therapist was the one who was found murdered since she seemed to have the most progress. Strange how the other two were carefully removed and not found but the one who got her talking the most and witnessed the struggle between the two personalities was murdered so violently and left to be found. An example, perhaps?

He shouldn't be involved in the story anymore in any form at this point when we were given confirmation that he's in hell. Even Fredbear Entertainment shouldn't exist. Just give us a new story, with new characters and a different company.

I think Vanny may be the reason Gregory was scared of Vanessa right from the start. Vanny probably have tried to do something to him and shouted at him at some point, while not wearing her costume (cause she isn't always wearing it as Vanny, as we can learn by the recordings)

As someone diagnosed with dissociative identity disorder, previously known as multiple personality disorder, absolutely not. He's actually actively spreading misinformation about a disorder caused by severe childhood trauma that has made me take a medical leave from my first year of college, lose friends, and have identity crises every other day. On top of this, all of the media out there surrounding DID paints us as monsters, when we are way more likely to be the victims of hate crimes than criminals. We're real people who don't have alter egos, but alternate identities with different memories, interests, and even tastes in food. This man should have done his research before spreading misinformation that's literally killed innocent, traumatized people.

- rec 1 - biological therapy - anxiety medication
with vanny:
- rec 2 - therapist is making the situation about herself, not helpful - establishes that her motives are not just to help vanessa/vanny, but for the company
second therapist (rec 3-5)
with vanessa:
- rec 3 - psychoanalytic therapy - trying to find the root of the problem (past/childhood) - custody battle, lying in testimony - type of therapy used especially for PTSD
- rec 5 - starts talking about the messages, expresses concern & tries to add more weight to it with the fact that sensitive info is being stolen too
with vanny:
- rec 4 - treating like child, little more strict/condescending like a parent lecturing
third therapist (rec 6-12)
with vanessa:
- rec 7 - inkblot tests are meant to reveal a person’s underlying mental state - therapist is trying to get a specific answer out of vanessa, which isn’t what she should do (“really? i see a face”)
- rec 8 - vanessa had journaling as homework - typical of people with depression or anxiety
- rec 9 - trying to redirect feelings into something else, like a hobby (kind of like countertransference but that has more to do with specific people)

the general similarity with all of them being that when they starting poking too far into vanessa’s problems with fazbear entertainment then that’s when they disappeared (which i believe is how therapist #3 stayed around for so long)

I didn't realise how conflicting Vanny and Vanessa really were, and it's actually quite disturbing to know her complete oppsitie shares her mind, thoughts and experiences. (It's also just as depressing to note that even her manipulator and attacker share those things, too)
This ties into the nature of Remnant, i.e. soul-force that remains after death, and the true nature of Afton's work. Clearly, these aren't "animatronics" in the real sense of the word, originally these were robots, but their high levels of function and evident personalities demonstrate that they aren't really even robots. They are zombies, essentially, although not animated corpses in the usual sense.
That's why the other animatronics are behaving so badly after Freddy's collapse on stage. At this point, they have actual personalities, twisted personalities, and their programming isn't their only source of behavior. They are also clearly coming under Vanny's control. That's why they can't "see" her. She's programmed herself out of their vision, so that when they see Vanny in her bunny-suit, she's simply not there -- until Freddy gets Roxy's eyes, that is. Vanessa presumably becomes the night security -- and indeed, the only human security -- at the megaplex because Vanny manipulates the computer systems to produce that result.
FNAF isn't technological horror in the sense of the Terminator series. This is supernatural horror in a technological age. It makes you wonder about what Fazbear Entertainment really is, and what is really behind it at this point. It isn't just some entertainment giant like a Disney or a Time-Warner. Kind of has the weird feel of the Twisted Metal universe, where there's been a kind of breakdown that allows for the weird to take control in ways that most people are gaslit into believing isn't really happening. I mean, 3 dead or missing therapists with a common tie to one subject and that subject isn't sitting in a room with one-way mirrors somewhere getting grilled?
Indeed, Afton is like a Demon who infects the computer chips with his spiritual essence. Remnant is the psycho substance that seals Spirits to the metal. And Afton's Malice is eternal.
As much as I really want to agree with you, I don’t think that Afton is dead in this game. If we take a look at Afton’s model in this game, we can see that he has human teeth and rotten skin clinging to the endoskeleton. If Afton is purely remnant now, these wouldn’t exist, so that tells me this Afton isn’t the dead Afton. In this universe, either the events of pizzeria simulator is later than security breach, or the incineration of pizzeria simulator somehow failed and all those animatronics remained more or less intact. Obviously we don’t see Lefty and Baby, but seeing molten Freddy and Afton is more than enough. Lefty could have just fused with molten Freddy and Baby could have just joined her dad. Who knows.

I have listende to all of the recording’s and it seems like, at least for me that when ever the therapist asked about the encrypted emails or some sort of enteraction with Afton, they ‘ disappear’ and a new one comes in. Maybe this is a way for Glichtrap to keep his plans a secret for as long as possible with out anyone interacting.
That’s just what I got from these tapes and my opinion. Keep up the good work.

Small nitpick- it’s dissociative identity disorder (DID), not split personality. The only reason I bring this up is because the term split personality is 1. A misrepresentation of the psychology of DID, because it’s not actually the presence of multiple personalities, but rather multiple developed people living in the same body. 2) that term perpetuates stigmas and misconceptions of DID. Vanny and Vanessa are two separate beings inhabiting the same body, not two sides of one person. I would recommend you do more research on DID if you’re curious, I’m no expert I just want to encourage being educated on these things.
Also please don’t interpret this as hostility, I really just want to spread awareness and what not, especially when it comes to coverage of mental illness in horror.

I guess the reason most people call it Split Personality rather than the proper terminology is precisely because that's what it's called most often in fiction, and it becomes a cycle of misinformation as people and specially new creators are inspired by older works that also don't use the proper term. What if William used his daughter Elizabeth's backstory before being scooped as a way to control Vanessa. It's being alluded that Ballora is similar to Afton's wife and that there was a broken home with the Afton family. The whole therapists logs of this Bill and the mom court seems to me of what really happened before Elizabeth got scooped and the bite of the crying child.
I heard people theorizing that the second patient was Gregory but it really makes a lot more sense if it’s vanny. In one of the cd’s an ink blot test was done and the patient said it looked like a mask and even seemed comforted by the thought. I have a hard time seeing Gregory show this kind of behaviour. Also Gregory doesn’t seem to be very familiar with the layout of the pizzaplex
this game says a lot about mental health- all four of the animatronics also represent different forms of coping mechanisms that people use; monty, anger and violence, roxy, narcissism and self praise, chica, binge eating and freddy, ignorant bliss!
if i might dig a bit deeper into the actual conditions of a split personality, whether it be some form of ossd or did, vanesa probably split way earlier in childhood through her trauma, afton just took advantage of one of those fractured pieces of her- I'm not so sure if that's something that can happen in reality (if reality even matters in fnaf @_@), but I think it's an interesting turn from someone having NO mental functions from the first few games, to someone having too many

I still believe they're two different people, because of some of the endings and because of the fact they both have different client numbers in the recordigns. Even the fact that Vanny was seen around the pizzaplex hacking, tells me that she has to be a seperate person, because why would they hire her after that?
Some of these recordings have been titled wrong, all 71- recordings are Vanessa, because she speaks and the therapist actually calls her by her name.
something I really, really like is that Vanessa is seen as a high quality worker, but shes also known to have intense anxiety. I used to be that way too, and honestly, it was mainly out of fear that I would fail or, worse, be confronted by the teachers if not. I didn't really like the work, and eventually I fizzled out of things I did in school that I used to love, like reading and writing, and for a small amount of time, math. I wonder if Vanessa actually enjoyed her job or if she felt like how I did.
I love how Mike does his content. He's given us a lot of Fnaf content and quick, but he hasn't made it more than it has to be. He sticks to the point and that's what is needed for this type kf series

I can confirm the manipulation Vanessa/Vanny faced is like this and can actually happen. I suffered a form of manipulation similar to this when I was younger, and in the time it created an alter that went by a different name and personality. I don't remember much of the time, but looking back on conversations between me and my abuser, therapists described the conversations the same way. It all looked like someone was having a conversation with themselves and not two people having a discussion. So in this instance Glitchtrap has made Vanny like a perfect second mind for himself. Like having an extra set of hands but all the same mind. The Devs put this game together really well! I was surprised at how relatable Vanessa’s trauma is to my own despite this being a fiction horror.

It could explain why she is playing Hide and Seek with Gregory, and why she skips about. It could also explain why she is manipulated by Afton more easily.

Just a thought i had. Has anyone brought up the idea that other than Vanessa/Vanny sessions that there is a possibility a couple of these sessions could be for the Animatronics? Like think about the level of AI we are talking about here. Chica being hungry and craving food, Roxy having anxiety/self confidence issues, Monty being a loose cannon/anger issues. Freddy reflecting on his existence. Like its easy to blame Afton for the glitches but this level of awareness and learning make sense why i could see a Shrink getting involved. The whole you cant fit in the chair thing makes more sense, the light sensitivity, commenting on the hacking. Vanessa talks to Freddy like a person so its not impossible to think that these CDs are also sessions with the gang. Just a thought.
The fact that most of the therapists are clearly not speaking to her as a good therapist would. They feel corporate and not knowledgable in trauma work. Exactly who the Fazbear corp would assign to someone.
This is probably the best analysis of Vanessa's/Vanny's backstory I've watched to date. Most people think that they are two different people when really they are two different personalities of the same person.

What if the security guard we see through Gregorys eyes is actually vanny, not Vanessa. If you notice, vanny is pretty harsh toward Gregory and even Freddy, much like vanny who's calm, yet cruel. It makes sense if you think about it, just my theory.
Yeah it would make sense, while Vanessa is probably stressed I dont think she’d be that harsh to Gregory especially leaving the kid alone locked up in a room, I imagine she wouldve stayed there or tried to calm the kid down, after all it wouldve been a stressful experience for them
The other possibility could be its Vanessa but glitchtrap is feasting off her anger and feeding her back stuff to corrupt her more, telling her to leave Gregory alone because hes been a bad kid and bad kids need to be locked up. Encouraging her to break the spirit of Freddy, be cruel, tho with how she is in one of the endings shes so sweet i just cant see this happening

The second person is clearly not Vanny. We see 2 people here which are documented by the first 2 digits. 71, who is always referred to as Vanessa and always talks at least once. And 46, who never ever responds and is described and treated as childlike.
You’ll notice the flaw in 46 being Vanny when you listen to the tape at 16:06 which mentions they were sad about something that happened with their parents. You tried to label this as Vanessa because of how much it didn’t make sense to be Vanny. But it is in fact a 46, non-responsive, child tape.
I believe the continued mention of parents are there to trick us. As the two incidents don’t even line up. Vanessa was manipulated by her dad, and 46 seemed to just have awful traumatic parents (which later we learn is a lie).
To go even further, the therapist is unable to have sessions with Vanessa anymore because she is moving to the Pizzaplex. So 46 can’t be Vanny because they continue to have sessions with 46.
I believe that 46 is a character we haven’t met before. They are described and treated as a child. Too small to fit in the chair, likes candy, is baby-talked to. They also notably likes the dark.
LadyFiszi one day uploaded an unknown concept art with Scott’s copyright on it. This art featured a hallway with a Moondrop clock. And a young boy. Sitting in the dark, and looking seclusive.
With all the weird connections to Moon and “Into Madness” in the game files. I believe this new kid will be seen in the next Steel Wool game, “FNaF: Into Madness.”
Buut what about recording 13 at 23:15 that is a 46 but mentions the previous therapists and one of them being murdered by robots (presumably vanny disassembling the former therapists with the security bots)
@@alwaysbored1700 I mean the bot thing is a logical connection but i doubt it. And listening to this again, I find more evidence it isn’t Vanny. Vanny is a very energetic and talkative person. She wouldn’t be hiding in the dark, staying secluded, and being silent. Vanny is not like that at all.

Wait, I'm pretty sure that the therapist who still talked to Vanny after Vanessa moved out was a different one. Also, about Vanny's silence, it makes sense that she wouldn't talk. She doesn't want the therapist to get close to the truth. I didn't read it as her being nervously quiet. More like a smug "You're not getting anything from me" type, especially beacuse she smiles when the therapists talk about normally upsetting things
Also I'm pretty sure we are supposed to assume thay have the same backstory. The differences in how they treat Vanessa/Vanny could be due to the fact that Vanny is an alter who acts like a child
Notice when the therapist is talking to Vanessa she says"Vanessa" but when the therapist is talking to Vanny to the word "Vanessa" never comes out this might mean that the therapist knows about Vanny and not just the part of Vanessa even though the therapist doesn't know about Glitchtrap, she only knows about Vanny but doesn't know what Vanny does.
I don't think Vanessa has 2 different personalities/has DID, I think in some of these therapist conversations she's her normal self, and in the rest she's being controlled by Glitchtrap
i like to believe that as well. the stereotype that every person with DID/OSDD has an “evil” alter, which would be the idea being perpetrated should this theory be correct, is very harmful towards the community

After this, I get the feeling that the vanny/glitchtrap relationship is similar to the relationship between Kramer and Amanda from Saw - Vanessa/Vanny is unstable and Glitchtrap acting as a "safe" person to her. If she is Vanny, it is feels that it is her regressive personality (The candy, the way she dances and skips around, her willingness to listen to instructions given by Glitchtrap) and glitchtrap is exploiting that part of her (Her wanting to be a good girl, asking for the darkness as a way to comply to her father's abuse). When she breaks down as Vanessa about "him" watching, it's because she was told not to say anything and that is why Vanny begins to show as she wants to remain as a good girl.
I feel like I am rambling, but this entire story is so complicated because this adds a whole new layer to the endings that we got.
When I heard about Vanessa’s story about her parents in court, it was exactly like mine, except roles were switched. My mom was always making my dad look bad for no reason and it traumatized me for years. It still goes on. Everything about Vanessa’s trauma with her custody battle (except for her mother killing herself) is exactly like mine (again, but roles switched.) Sent goosebumps down my spine when I heard.
Something I doubt is actually canon, but I think would go along with these records really well, is if William had actually entered her subconscious and established himself as Vanny. Most of it fits. The preference to indoor spaces from being in a suit that was hyper sensitive to moisture for years, how Vanny is so much better at computer stuff than Vanessa (Afton made the Funtime animatronics after all, he has to have a good knowledge of machines in general to maintain something as large as Baby’s entertainment and rentals), the liking of sports being regular dad stuff, and even the high relaxation from having human skin for the first time in year’s. Hell, even my main issue is that Vanny is so childish in SB, but so was Glitchtrap in help wanted. The only reason Will is going after his true body in SB is to have full control, since Vanessa is still an issue.

I just wanna give props to the devs keeping up the company's habit of less than ethical workings with how the numerous therapists blatantly went against acceptable and legal practices with Vanessa. It's actually really scary to see how they work to manipulate her into answering how the company wants.
The best example is the first talking about how SHE is getting reviewed and how Vanessa not speaking is going to get HER in trouble! It can take weeks or even months to get someone comfortable enough to open up even if they really vibe with the therapist.
True, but I mean, it is obvious that Vanny did all those hacking under Will's influence. Even for people who don't know about him, it's just too much of a strange coincidence.
Plus, it's not like the company switch therapists on purpose. I'm sure we can guess what happened to those 3, and what will likely be the end for the fourth one.
Good points. I wasn't actually talking about the switching though (although in NORMAL circumstances you can get referred to a different professional if the person you're working with feels they aren't a good fit for you).
What I'm focused on is how they're all talking to Vanessa/Vanny. There are a LOT of really strict Dos and Don'ts when it comes to therapy, and even the third who is arguably the best is breaking those.
They're all trying to FORCE her to talk about traumatic experiences, talk when she isn't comfortable doing so, constantly pressing on issues and details they know she isn't ready to talk about because Fazbear wants answers. There's also a lot of guided questioning trying to get Vanessa/Vanny.
It can be harder to tell when a therapist is being manipulative because you are trusting these people with your mind. So I've been using videos about these CDs/Tapes to kind of help push to people that this isn't normal so if they're trying to get help they can make sure to not get stuck with a bad professional.
Plus it's a great bit of narrative writing that helps show that Fazbear hasn't learned pretty much anything this entire time and how these tragedies will continue as they constantly rug sweep and try to hide issues instead of actually solving anything.

Hey, they aren’t called split personalities anymore; it’s Dissociative Identity Disorder and the person technically ‘is’ the separate personalities. They’re all different people, in the same body. Just FYI for anyone interested.
mhm. and i do think that it honestly makes a lot of sense that vanessa could be some sort of system / have some form of dissociative disorder with the sheer amount of trauma she’s gone through, especially as a child. i feel horrible for her. as someone diagnosed with a dissociative disorder ((not a system, though; DPDR)) it’s not a fun thing to deal with. at all.
it feels like afton might even have dug his claws into vanny / that specific alter first, by manipulating her in the same or a similar way to how her father did and that presence of afton might have bled pretty far out into vanessa's life as well; leading to stuff like the different responses to prompts making her think about afton / glitchtrap, or the fact that vanessa ((not vanny)) is even aware of him at all.
i think “vanny” very well could have split from vanessa at a young age as such an obedient-albeit reluctant-follower to cope with how harshly it sounds like the father treated his child, and vanny could have been split off from the “real vanessa” / the host at the core of the body, to just protect the kid that was having to deal with all of this to begin with. the thought of that ???? heartbreaking honestly
if Vanny developped as an alter when they were a child and she is a little, an alter that mentally IS child it would actually work really well/ could explain a lot, another comment said and I had the same thought, that she seems very child like, not just in the tapes but think also of the that when we do see her in the game is almost always skipping and dancing around. A child alter would be easier to manipulate espsically since Glitchtrap/William would likely remind her of her father, who we know manupulated her in the past, he may have even convinced her he was him, they DO have the same name, Bill being short for William. The tapes imply she did what her father wanted out of fear but she may have also wanted to please him, possibly in the false belief that if she did that would make the abuse stop. The name Vanny could even have originally been a nickname given to her by her father, it kind of seems like the type of nickname that would come from a parent to me. I personally still don't 100% believe they ARE the same body after the rooftop ending (and a few other things) but going off the idea that tehy are, this makes the most sense within that idea... if that makes sense lol
Well that applies to real life people. Those people also are not mindcontrolled by the digital soul of a child murderer. Vanny and Vanessa are quite literally seperate people.
But that’s no good for a fictional villain as it portrays those suffering from a mental illness as evil. Split personality is a better.

I find it super interesting that when talking to Vanny, is almost like the therapist is talking to a child. "Put in the corner", "timeout", "oh you don't know what that means"...I don't know, it gives me child vibes, especially the corner and timeout things.
Vanessa and Vanny sound like two separate characters and not just two different sides of the same coin. Glitchtrap is trying to control Vanessa like he is Vanny.

Realized yesterday while watching Matpat's playthrough that Afton is in the Bonnie mech - he picked up a message that the Bonnie mech was out of commission and that's why Monty was put in.
My biggest reaction to these audio clips is judging the therapists (im a counselor in training) cuz they talk too much and poking at sensitive subjects too forcefully but it was an approach to get answers especially for company reviews.
Anyone else notice how when it’s Vanessa, they say “hi Vanessa” but when it’s Vanny, they say nothing at all and get on with it?
Honestly something in particular that seems interesting to me is that even the recordings centering around Vanessa don't sound like the Vanessa we see in-game
The Vanessa we see in these recordings sounds naturally submissive, quiet, and defeated, like she knows it's impossible for her to escape her current predicament and has fully accepted it. However, the Vanessa we see in FNAF Security Breach is loud, easily annoyed, and commanding throughout the game, whether it be searching for Gregory, or talking to Freddy. This is the exact opposite of the version of Vanessa we hear within these tapes
These, along with the fact you've realized in a later video that there are 2 Vanessa's, one trapped within the identity of Vanny and the other working at the Pizza Plex, makes me believe that Fazbear Entertainment likely fired the original Vanessa due to her suspicious nature, and somehow hired a new employee behind everyone's back who they paid to look and act like the previous Vanessa. This may see like a strange theory at first, bit given the sheer amount of money Fazbear has for the sheer amount of intelligent robots, self learning AI, and everything else they've paid for, it does seem like a surprisingly logical idea
Either this, or Vanessa is a twin sister of Vanny who got a job at the Pizza Plex to try and figure out what happened to her sister, and thus everybody at the Pizza Plex, recognizing her as looking exactly like Vanessa, continue to call her Vanessa
another reason could be that in the game she isn´t talking to another adult, given her profile it would make sense for her to be more introverted. Plus in the profile we are given, she seems to have strong maternal instincts which would explain her outbursts towards gregory since she just wants to protect him but is pissed about his stuborn refusal to be helped
I think the reason she sounds different is cause they changed her role in the game and the recordings were before the change, either that or Vanessa was acting completely different because of the presumable blackmailing and Glitch trap interfering with her mind to make her more "Confident" because she wasn't at a good level of it for her to do what Afton needs her to do
i kinda like this theory, i think based on the tapes it does seem like a split personality but the game and unmasking ending makes it seem like vanessa and vanny are two different people (like when gregory gets caught and vanessa is scolding him, then vanny shows up immediately... it doesnt make sense if theyre the same person) im gonna keep thinking that vanny has like a twin sister or someone in her family/close to her that looks like her. but vanny does have DID or split personalities what have u

"why would she look sad if she saw another her in a rabbit costume dead on the ground?" that statement disproves the ghost theory more than the twin sisters one..if its a ghost- she knows she died, why would she be in a security guard outfit? and if it were a ghost im sure they wouldve drawn her differently to imply so, theres no proof its a ghost like at all. if theyre twin sisters however, jt makes sense vanessa is sad vanny died bc she knows its her sister since vanny is unmasked

As someone who seems to have two personalities, I sympathize with Vanessa. My dad and stepmom took me out of my childhood at the age of 7, I wasn't allowed to have toys, or read kids books, being forced to read middle School level books. It caused me to have a childish personality and a grown up one, it comes in handy and makes me a good babysitter, and a mature person at the same time. But vanessas problem is more complex, we know she lies about the custody battle, explained by the 15th and 16th tapes, so maybe the vanny side of Vanessa is a mix of Afton and one of the kids souls from a previous game in the lore. (We know the amalgamation is a mix of haunted animatronics melted together)it's possible a soul managed to separate from the amalgamation after the fire and possess vanny along with glitchtrap. But that's my personal theory
All i want to do Right now is just aprecciate the amount of effort you put into finding these CDs and listening carefully to them and explaining them and even letting us know witch one belongs to who. And all of the other thing just thank you❤️
