I was very impressed with Tarun's review of the 5's on his YT channel, so your decision to support him is definitely having an impact.
I picked these up a few months ago and am saddened to not see them being talked about more. I guess PMC aren't paying off all the big name influencers to shill. I compared them against all kinds of speakers in the same price bracket (b&w, kef, monitor, focal) and I felt the PMC blew all the competition away. The low-end p bass response is just amazing for speakers of this size.
No doubt you are happy with your new speakers! This is a really great choice 👍
I didn’t think so - the fact that Tarun awarded the prodigy 5 for 2023 as best speaker £1k-£3k but then he hadn’t reviewed anything else at same price, left me wondering about credibility and an award for monetisation and fairness to other brands. To be best there has to be a comparator. I felt the Totem Bison towers are much better speakers as I said in my review against the prodigy 5 because the bass is quite a bit lazier in the prodigy 5 than 25/25i series speakers, and against the totems too. I’m saying this having bought two pairs of pmc’s myself and loving the 25/25i sound, but you have to spend a decent amount more to get the same quality of the 25i series bass speed, agility, transient dynamics and pure speed and grip. I’m an owner of 25-23 and have reviewed 25-23i and 25-23 but didn’t feel prodigy 5 is a real pmc. The midrange is thinner and further back against the totem’s, not the same luxury sound of the bisons and in some areas the totems are a similar price. There is also a much nicer tone and timbral quality to the totem speakers that makes them way more refined. The pmc top treble of the prodigy 5 sometimes can jump out and bite. They don’t have the agility, the totems are nicer made with better materials and wood finishes too.
Great informative video thanks. Would love a pair........
Thank you!
Checked them out at the Ascot show as well, really fine pair of speakers 👌🏻 Great video, thank you guys!
Thank you 🤩
Fantastic video guys!! Wicked product too 🙌🏻
Thanks 🤩
Would these work nearfield in a small office? Existing speakers are on stands but probably 6-9” from the back and side wall. It’s the only place I can put them as the room is only 6’ x 7’. Or any other alternatives similar budget? I’ve read the Amphion Argon 1 aren’t fussy with regard to positioning. Thanks.
Yes, the speakers would work well in the near-field setup due to the fact that they actually use the same tweeters as are used on the PMC's professional monitors, which are designed specifically for the purpose of near-field monitoring 👌
@@premiumsounduk Thanks for the feedback. I’ll arrange a demo, probably in the new year.
I didn’t like the prodigy 5 at all in my independent review. Your video is very well made video, love it, but I don’t think you can really call it a review when you sell them. If I was you I’d just concentrate on a longer dialogue about the tech and leave the word review out.
And audio continues to shave off value by not including a stupid grill.
Next - Tweeter sold separately.
AFter that - woofer and tweeter sold separately.
Cheesy, cheap crossover and steel binding posts - all sold searately.
Screws to hold stuff together--yup, on its own.
