Used cardboard sheets from old boxes is great pattern making material for temporary and curvy patterns. Simply dumpster dive into dumpster dedicated for/to separate paper (not sure if you have those down there under) to fish out some, or ask neighbors for some old boxes from furniture or big stuff..

Thanks for documenting all this. Hopefully I’ll be doing this soon.

I'm not too sure on the Unimog designs but I suspect adding more external sound deadening to the engine bay, transmission tunnel and under the cab will assist. For the metal under the cab those rubberize/stone chip paint products might be suitable. For the engine bay, I used the car builders "Under Bonnet Insulation
" on my Ranger which I found reasonably effective.

If you cover the upper areas of the cab in the sound deadening material you're likely to have an even bigger difference. While not as big as the floor and walls the roof and upper sections stop some of the reverberation/sound bounce back. You'll notice this most when you are on mobile phone hands free with someone talking to you.
You can also stop some of the engine noise coming through the windscreen by doing the underside of the bonnet although this usually requires a different product.

JimmyStewpot thanks, I’ve done the underside of the bonnet, next I’ll do the roof and wrap the exhaust.

      1.)
Did you do the firewall and behind the dashboard as well?
If not, that will make a big difference as well.
Also, if there are empty spaces in/behind the dashboard these will resonate and amplify the noise.
      2.)
Did you notice a difference in temperature, with all that insulation?

$99.00 buys you a set of noise canceling headphones that will play your music of choice as well 👍

Thanks for the video. Will be embarking on this very soon. I bought an industrial sewing maching years ago so I can sew canvas and big stuff. Iv tuned it so it can sew with dynema. Basicly fishing braid. My intention is to eventually make my own circus tent. But also make a huge unimog batwing awning. I'll use it to see the carpet. Looking forward to the journey.
We will be going real hard on the sound proofing because we have a cat that will travel with us. And I dont want to hurt her hearing. Have you done the roof aswell? Everything will act as drum

For everyone out there, a little knowledge can be a dangerous thing. You must not put the seat base on top of the butyl rubber. You will not need longer bolts and even if you do change them, make sure you use the right tensile rating. The seat is a safety item and modifications require certification. By placing the seat on the rubber sheeting it will not be possible to achieve the correct torque nor to maintain it.
