Sometimes parents are unfortunately too nice
Sometimes they had the perfect condition to raise childrens but it fallen down so they have to raise their childs by being a bit absent and stuff like that
Etc, even if education by parents does a lot and many manyyy parents are insane, social interactions does a lot too, parents can't do everything and aren't perfect-

i hope he realizes that the hymen can literally expand from riding a bike or sitting certain ways or literally anything else. it doesn’t “break” because it isn’t a wall covering the hole. it’s a membrane that usually has holes in it by the time you’re 10 or whatever, otherwise period blood wouldn’t be able to get out. what an idiot.

Sometimes the body can make mistakes and make it with sieve-like holes or no hole and it can sometimes forget to make it at all but those are rare and with the former two the doctors will do surgery on it as that can be pretty dangerous. @@anopinion1349 me about to be 33 and just learning this. I did watch an "Adam ruins everything" video in which Emily explained that hymens don't always break with sex (using the illustration of a US school marching band bursting through a banner) but I don't remember her/the guest doctor mentioning that the hymen has holes for the blood to leak through or may disintegrate on its own at puberty.
I wonder if that's part of the reason why even when I followed sex-ed document instructions to take a mirror to look at my gen*tals I still couldn't find my v-hole (until age 25 years 2 months) even though my periods were regular (and basically cramp free).
I do remember recently hearing that the hymen prevents contaminants or infection-inducing bacteria from entering the v-hole before the age that the v-hole can self-clean (I guess with menstruation). Guess I'm Googling "function of a hymen" now

I _guarantee_ that it doesn't work like that.
Sincerely, me, a child who would get beaten for doing something wrong.
You remember the pain, the fear, and being held down. You forget what the hell you just did to deserve this. You forget the moments after in a blur of tears and pain. You don't know what you did. You just know that you got hurt by the one person who's supposed to protect you. It breaks trust the first time it happens, and every single time after.
Because you don't know why you were beaten, _even if_ said parent screamed at you to explain, you start to react. A movement too sudden is a threat, so you flinch away. Getting too close is a threat, so you back down.
I remember getting beaten with a pillow, and spending the next hour trying not to have a breakdown because I didn't know what had even triggered the beating. I was 17.
    *Don't beat your kids.*

    • @dovee1
      @dovee1 4 ปีที่แล้ว +84

Fun fact about screaming: your child will just register " *oh no this scary person is shouting in my face oh my god I'm terrified* " and won't actually be able to comprehend anything you're saying over the jet stream that's surrounding them like they're in an air tunnel. Imagine sticking your head out of a car window. You have no way of constructing the boundaries of physical objects around you, everything around you is whipping by and whistling past, you gotta squint your eyes as the full force of the world coming at you at 60mph hits and you can't focus on one thought or feeling. That's how it feels.
Don't make your kids feel like they're sticking their head out of a car. They might get hit and it'll be your fault for not rolling up the window.

I'd like to share something its not a big thing I'd guess but: a week ago I was so sad and didn't know what to do cause my cat got lost...and it might not seem much but it was really stressful and depressing for me. At the end of the day I was with my parents...I thought I could talk to them about how I've been feeling all day. I could only just explain so much as to "haru's gone and I can't find him anymore".... And had a complete breakdown. I'm a sensitive person and am teased for crying over things. So its embarrassing to cry and its my habit to stifle my cries till I get a sore throat. But I thought at least this time, my parents might understand me and let me relieve my stress. As embarrassing it was I was crying like a child that day...what made it worse was that my parents didn't react the way I hoped they would. My dad started shouting at me saying that how I've gone crazy over a cat and how I don't love them or love a puny cat more than them. My mother never once tried to stop him. I cries far more than I expected I would listening to that. I went to my room and cried like i always do...till my throat hurt like hell, in silence. Later, my mom tried to talk to me again...about what happened. It wasn't an apology but telling me how I was wrong. ...After listening through her crap ....when I said I would leave them forever and for good one day. My mother commences crying and guilt tripping me. It really made no sense to me...do they really expect after all that stupid shit that I would be willing to stay in a place where my emotions are regarded as total shit? And it was unfair how she could cry her crocodiles tears yet if i did I was a crazy person who loved animals more than humans. I mean at least Haru(my cat) didn't yell at me so much that I flinch at any random fast movement of somebody. I wrote this while crying. I feel stupid.

Hey, no, it's valid to be crying. Crying genuinely is a way to relieve stress and strong emotions. You're valid to be mad about being made out as the bad person over being worried about your cat, and you're valid to *be* worried about your cat. I've cried over the loss of two cats, both times I had to take the day off.
I cant offer you much more advice, but know you aren't alone in how you feel and that someday you will be safe to confide in someone close to you.

Yeah it's sad how messed up the system is in that regards.
My parents weren't together from early on so I never knew what it was like when they lived together outside of the stories I have been told. But throught most of my childhood I lived with my mother, becourse for some reason they believed it was for the best, despite the fact that one of my older half-brother got taken away from her, after she moved away from my father, but before I begin to form memories. My father tried constanly to just get shared custody, so that he at least would have some rights in regards to me, but never got them. Despite the fact my had one child removed, had been caught trafficking drugs (after she had me, her child had been removed, but before I started school.), and the despite the fact that my father always paid child support, he would still need to buy me new clothes from time to time. The thing that bothers me the most is the fact that the authorities knew that my mother wasn't taking proper care of me, there was a lot of meetings involving my parents, my school (after I started school of course, I don't know if my kindergarten was involved before that) and the authorities about me and the various issues surrounding me, and what each of my parents could do to help me, and they knew that despite that she wasn't doing a proper job, yet for some reason it was still better for me to be with her, then my father.

Lowkey though, needing to get a permit before you can have kids is actually a pretty good idea
Edit : Since several people have accused me of being a terrible person now, I feel the need to clarify that I said "Lowkey" the idea was good because, although far from perfect, it was a good start on making an improvement.
If I were to personally tweak the idea to make it better I would change it to - "you need a permit to be a parent before you can legally claim ownership over a child". This way you can choose between aborting the child, putting them up for adoption, or taking the test to keep them. The test can be something like a background check with a simple "three strikes and you're out" rule, or a quick psychological test so someone can find out how likely one is to start abusing their child. Should someone "forget" to take the test but decide to keep the child regardless they should be lightly fined but allowed to take the test as soon as possible.
The goal of the idea isn't to build a spiked cage around the right to parenthood, like many seem to feel, but to put a light obstacle in the way of it. Light enough that anyone with enough of the necessary motivation needed to be a parent should be able to cross-over it, but designed smartly enough that it would trip over at least a decent chunk of potentially abusive parents before they got the chance.
Of course it wouldn't be perfect and some abusers might slip through, but for the most part it should decrease the rate of child abuse by a decent percentage.
And should one fail the test then they should still be able to choose between aborting the child and putting them up for adoption so they can have peace in knowing they'll likely be looked after by a more qualified family.

I agree she shouldn't have freaked out as much as she did, but some religions/practices (mostly neo-paganistic religions and witches) incorporate star signs and astrology. To those people, it is an important aspect of life. (I highly doubt she is either of those because even witches/others wouldn't freak out that much as that about having a child of a certain sign.)
This isn't me defending her. She should (as a parent) be willing to work with her kid no matter what star sign they have. It just makes me feel kind of awkward when people 'hate' (for lack of a better word) on others who talk about star signs and the like because it's part of a religion and a practice. Think of it as someone saying 'hijabs are stupid.'

I actually knew a child who's in the child support situation. Her momma would go out and spend it all on drugs, sex, and parties, and practically nothing for her daughter. I spoken up about it, and so did the grandparents. Luckily, in that situation, dad was able to get custody.
I'm under the impression that it should be required to somehow document everywhere that money is going, so it's clear that the payments are being used to raise and care for the child.

I think there's a big difference between making sure your kids have a healthy balance in their diet and restricting their portions because their BMI is a bit high. If your kid is hungry, let them eat. Never, ever, EVER restrict their ability to eat based on their weight or appearance. That's a fast-track to body image issues and disordered eating. Being a bit overweight is not the end of the world -- and frankly, BMI isn't even a very accurate measurement. IIRC it was based specifically on white men of a certain body type. BMI =/= health. Weight =/= health. A lot of the time, your body will tell you what it needs if you listen to it.

Rapid and drastic increase in single motherhood, a large percentage due to mothers actively pushing the fathers out of the family, exhibiting dysfunction. There’s a lot of different circumstances, I’m just pointing to a pattern that explains the gender disparity.
There are a few other factors that are harder to quantify and track. But stats do show that a kid is most likely to be abused by their own mom than anyone else.
We’re not only in a more mom dominated world as more broken families are made. We also live in an extremely isolated world deeply lacking authentic and healthy community and close friends or family.
Many people have a few shallow relationships or struggling dysfunctional friendships and are otherwise surrounded by strangers completely disconnected from their own environment. All of this has created an incubation bubble for abused kids who have already been deliberately cut off from the world through parents and schools. What people do to kids and call normal is disgusting and insane.

The post about the child's BMI was hella triggering for me. Until I was around 7 my family had unstable or low income, and we lived off of very unhealthy foods. Growing up I was definitely, and obviously, overweight. Rather than excepting the circumstances, and healthly providing me the resources needed better myself, I was abused and ridiculed about my weight by my parents. That led to me struggling with my weight regulation, relationship with food, and my health all around. I'm still struggling to make things better, and have found out recently that I have an underlying genetic hormonal condition relating to my body's ability to gain and lose weight. It's a constant struggle that all started by my parents ignoring my doctor's concerns about my health. It's abuse, and it's fucking horrible parenting. KIDS ARE NOT SELF-REGULATING!!!
