Guess whose back😂, when i saw 'sensational' i knew I had to look- and damn, a double headed hst, an old dmu unit and a class 379 drag?- worth the watch as usual, and ur near to 20k!- good job ross as always
Back again? 😉 Great variety for a Saturday. Weekdays give more freight but the charters more than made up for that. We are so close to 20K, I don’t even know what I’m going to do to celebrate! Thank you 😃
I completely agree Spectrum. Some stations are not built for trainspotters and this is one of them. The views really only work in one direction. I am happy with the results despite the less than ideal situation 😃
Amazing video Ross!! Some awesome variety and action there! The RA powercars sounded excellent as HSTs always do! Nice catch of the freight, unit drag and thumper as well!! Some great tones throughout the video! The 91s are always great to see as well!
Fortunately, I was completely aware of it coming, hence why I had to move down the platform. I wished it was a little earlier or later so I could blend it a little better. I always stand behind the yellow line even if I know what is expected. Sometimes it doesn’t go as planned!
My aunt lives in Stevenage and by her house is a bridge and I used to stand on a stool and look over at the trains and wave at them, I would nearly always get a honk.
The icing on this very desirable cake was the two charters including The Hastings DEMU. Plus a lot of friendly drivers for what looked like a fun day had by all rail enthusiasts judging by the amount of them. But what makes it better is that young people are taking up the hobby. This has to be your best clip so far Ross.
Thanks Craig! The lads on the other platform did me a lot of work for the horns which helps since I tend to focus on camera stability rather than horns. It certainly is great to see so many younger people taking up the hobby! Thanks for your kind comments 😃
Awesome! It took me a few minutes to find who it was operated by so hopefully I got it right 👍🏻 Lincoln Central has been recorded and is coming up soon too 😃
As a Stevenage resident proud to see the diversity we get through the station, shame the town is boring but the railway station is great to trainspot at and I welcome all to come visit.
Amazing video! I love seeing all the unique trains along the ECML, especially all those open access operators like Hull Trains! Would love to see a video of trains at Preston, trains heading all over the west coast and Lancashire stop there! But anyways, great vid!
Very right, thankfully these mk2s have a generator coach so we can enjoy formations like this! When I heard that this was going to be double headed powercars, I had to make use of the chance. The thumpers are always a pleasure too, the first time I’ve filmed them on this channel too. Thanks Theo 😃
Back in the day when those 57s were 47s, we used to spot from the Six Hills, which are just beyond the bridge that you see the 201s first coming under. Along with the 47s, we get 31s and the odd 20 pulling the freight as well as the glorious Deltics. As good as it is to see youngsters still spotting these days, I'm not sure today's trains could give rise to such excitement that we used to get from seeing and hearing those beasts going full pelt through that stretch.
I completely agree, frankly a lot of the younger spotters (I guess you could also include me in this as a 90s baby) know no different. I’m actually surprised at the level of interest there still is! Thank you for watching and sharing your memories 😃👍🏻
Nice video as always if you're filming on the ECML South of Peterborough during November then you'll more than likely get services capped to Royston as the line between there and Cambridge is closed 3 out of the 5 weekends due to the building of Cambridge South
as an american, i wish to one day visit the UK for the sake of trainspotting (or railfanning as we call it in the US) these cool trains. maybe i could also visit a heritage railway and take a look at some steam locomotives! here in the US my local track has an infrequent commuter railroad with the same rolling stock, and a freight train a day but i don’t know when it comes
So, the age has come to Steven. Oh hang on a minute, its Stevenage 😀A wonderful and epic day you've had for Stevenage with a lot of action. I mean, this has been... Well, lost for words :-)
Thanks Ricky, I didn’t mean to make you get lost in your words and the meaning of them! I’m just glad you enjoyed the east coast action this week! Since I know you’re a northern lad, have you seen the rumours that Colas have won the contract and 20s could be working the RHTT in York/Scarborough area this year? Very interesting if it’s true! 😃
Are there still many suicides just down the track at Welwyn North. I recollect a direct line to the Samaritans being installed on the southbound platform once.
Hello Everyone and thanks for viewing today! I filmed at this station in 2019 too. If you would like to see how much things have changed since then, feel free to check out the video: th-cam.com/video/MxZ_faSAoGo/w-d-xo.htmlsi=YbS3e9jJG_gO1BlE
I filmed at Cheshunt in 2020 when the 317s were still around. I don’t currently plan on returning due to the lack of variety, this could always change especially if I can plan a few specials. Thanks for your interest.

@@StarlifeStudios ohhh, fair enough🤣👍🏻
That’s amazing! Stevenage is my favourite station to trainspot at! Great video Ross! 😃
It’s not a bad station. The straight platforms only really give a good view in one direction but it gets some good variety so I’m happy to return! 😃
Plenty going on, I just wish those platform end barriers were 30cm lower. Good video Ross.

Appreciate it Ross
The amount of traction on show, absolutely fantastic video Ross
@@CompassRailVids Thank you Jay, glad you enjoyed it! The RADVE Powercars were back on home ground too.
This is the video I was waiting for a long time

Amazing Video Ross! Love to see the HSTs and the Thumpers on the channel! Nice to have busy ECML Traffic on the channel! Thanks for sharing Ross! 👍
Thank you! This is the first time for the Thumpers on the channel and also the first time for a GBRF 57. I can’t resist a HST, it’s just too much! 🤣
😂 Definitely a “sensational” day!😂
Stevenage was the last station i visited on the ECML, cant wait for this one!
When the 91s come through, you know it's gonna be a good day
2025 will be the last full year with them so catch them whilst you can!
Damn, 803005 really puts into perspective how dangerous trains can be if you're not paying attention. Came out of bloody nowhere!

Slowly but surely 😉⭐️

Worth the money for the house then!

Great vid! I need to get back to the ECML and catch the 91s before it’s too late! Those class 700s really get away from the line quickly!
Congratulations on your new video
Thank you! This is a good one and I’m really proud to have improved upon this station since 2019 too! 😃

The first time that 'sensational' and 'Stevenage' have been used in the same sentence.
Very true! It’s a pretty bland town to be honest.
@@StarlifeStudios I remember a Fry and Laurie sketch set in a Greek restaurant:
- 'This is nothing but a tourist trap.'
- 'What, in Stevenage?'
I know the MK2's don't have MU systems compatible with the HST's, but it STILL doesn't look right when they're NOT top and tail!

As I watched your Stevenage video from 2019 it features the LNER HST farewell tour which was the best highlight to see
Hey Ross, did you see a 803003 on 1S93?

How long were you trainspotting at Stevenage? I’m thinking about going but the frequency is info I just can’t find
This was a Saturday and I stayed between 07.30 and 12.00. Have fun at Stevenage!
