Awesome bro great rare diversion it’s a shame the iet’s cannot work on overhead power electric mode due to some parts of the diversion line between Willesden Junction onto the gwml at Acton main line isn’t electrified. All of the 387s have had to start & stop at reading.
@@Trainline5000 I was reading that HS2 services once they start will be terminating at Old Oak Common Station until Euston is finished it was on the HS2 channel on youtube
As Paddington was closed due to engineering works at Old Oak Common, GWR services were diverted into Euston. There were only two trains each direction per hour, along with the Night Riviera in the late evening/early morning the following day
The New Caledonian Sleeper Carriages have the most horrendous ride.. I will never ever take the sleeper up to Scotland Again.. the new Mk5 rolling stock is utter crap (and I work for the Railway for many years and have travelled all over the world on sleeper trains).. The Cornish Sleeper is gorgeous; the upgrade to the MK3 sleeper carriages was a great success.. enough said..
@@Richard-Swift,probably because the roof at Paddington is significantly higher than the one in Euston, so it allows the diesel fumes to escape a lot better
Oh, wow. But only SEVEN cars on the Night Riviera? I thought that it usually carried more than that. Is there something wrong? Is ridership suffering? Also, a bit of humor at seeing 57s and 92s together. One of the "reasons" for canceling Nightstar was inadequate HEP/ETS capacity on available rolling stock, even with the crazy 37-gen-37 lashups. But the 57 allegedly has as much capacity as those lashups. And it was only a couple of years away from operating. Not to mention the complaints about the 92 wrecking the electrical supply whenever it ran, only to see it now making its living on sleepers as it was meant to. And don't get me started on the Mk 5's interior and exterior design. Pretentious and gaudy, inside and out. Who on earth thought those giant antlers were a good idea? Simple stripes with more subtle hints would have worked better.
Magnificent. Good video. No doubting Euston's an ugly station - but it is in my experience quite handy due to its compactness - passenger side anyway. And the recent reports of how potentially dangerous the place is due to people apparently running over each other to get to trains has been pure hysteria. Massive improvements and a rebuild will be welcome. But it's a better place than it was years ago just be the removal of all those concourse obstacles.
Hello there, me and my friend were on the GWR filmed here it cost us £30 for the full journey from London all the way to Cornwall, but that was a pre booked fare, if you know when you're travelling book your trains as far in advance as you can, it makes a VERY big difference, I hope you have a lovely time, we did
I believe that 92's are more powerfull than 90's, they certainly have much more tractive effort, and a faster speed isn't necessary on an overnight train.
They used 90s and 92s interchangeably back when it was still run with Mk3 carriages. 90s are incompatible with the Mk5 carriages, so aren't used any more.
I really don't like those inside frame bogies on the CAF sleeper stock. They just look silly. Mk 3s look so much better (and don't even talk about the difference in what they're like to ride in 😬)
3 amazing locos, all brilliant in their own rights. So cool seeing them together in passenger service rather than a railtour
This could be once in a lifetime to see this. Sadly I’m at the other end of the gwml so I couldn’t see it. Great vid👍
The two sleepers together! It may never happen again.
Ultra rare....
I think it may
Good chance that it will as there are more blockades planned over the next few years, next one is over Christmas for about 8 days
@@blairleipst4508GWR will not run sleeper over Christmas
Excellent footage. A class 90 and a sleeper? Nah, it'll never catch on...
@callumthornelow2936 Haha, thank you!
Now that is a rarity. Congratulations.
Fantastic video, great captures. :)
Thank you :)
Im guessing the Class 90 was there to provide power to the sleeper without the need to run the '57' engine?

Still awesome to see to separate sleeper trains going to far parts of the country
Nice to see class 92 and the 90 together, got to admit the mk5 coaches are horrible at the side of the mk3s. Bring back BR and build British
I remember WCML electrics running into St. Pancras many years ago....this is equally as bizarre....
Nice catch
Thank you!
Tremendous vid.
@@Timstravels01 Thank you!
Is this the only time they'll be running to Euston? Nice to see the MK3 SLEPs back in their former running grounds too.
@LucasTheElectrostar This should happen more times over the next few years, I believe due to work on the HS2 site at Old Oak Common
@@Trainline5000 Even more so over the Christmas Period Awesome catch.

@@pj6641 Night Riviera was only at EUS for the 17th Nov, won't be the case at Xmas unfortunately, but GWR will be returning soon either way
What happened to the class 90 that was seen being attached to the class 47 at the rear of the GWR Sleeper
The 57 was plugged into the 90 to allow the MK3’s to be powered so that the local residents didn’t suffer
14:54 Red Star Parcel Point? That sign's a bit of a fossil 😀
I thought that to lol
If 90 001 was just an electrical supply in the station I wonder why he hooked the coupling up too?
If the train was to move suddenly it might rip the ETS cables out. With the loco coupled up that can't happen
When did gwr have lines to euston
I thought they had maybe started using electrics to haul under the wires as far as Bristol but it seems they haven't thought that far.
How come the LSL90 arrangement has come about amd was this a one off ? I caught it earlier on the way down to Euston
The night Rivera sleeper would run from London Paddington but due to upgrade work they are only running between london Euston and penzance
Also continuing to build new Old Oak Common for hs2 & Lizzy line.
@legitibthats the main one. Weve got lots of it to comeitmaster3264
What time did the grate western trian departed from Euston
Why did the 90 attach on the back
Power supply for the GWR stock so no Idling 57's in the station

What was the point of that class 90 being there?
so they the class 57's don't idle in the station and ill it with fumes just to power the whole train

I thought they would put both engines on each side of the sleeper so if one failed there would another unit could take over.
