This is the first place I worked after leaving school. It’s a shame that my job isn’t shown here (sanding, smoothing and waxing the drums top and bottom) but it was good to see the factory in working order. I recognise some of these guys from 1997 so they must have worked there forever! Factory had a 12:30 finish on a Friday and everyone went to the 1852 pub across the bridge! Good old days.

I was lucky enough to work there for a fortnight as my school "work experience" around '98, but in reality it was like being inside Willy Wonka's factory for me. Some real characters there for sure. Even got given a bass drum at the end of it.

Thanks for the upload, I started drums when I was 13.
PREMIER was then considered equal to Ludwig, Gretch or all of the others in the 60ies.
At the music school, one of my friends was already a professional drummer, he was a tall strong guy and I was buying broken equipment from him. His name was Bob Darsch.
Among other things, I bought a wooden snare drum with double side snare release, zamac hoops which I repaired. Great sound👍👍👍.
I now own a 90ies kit which I like very much.
I hate all the people who destroyed all these beautiful crafts in Europe for the sake of easy money, I hope they will roast in Hell for eternity. 😈😈😈, these are sincere wishes from an old Belgian drummer from Vietnam.
    Take care.

As a Huge Fan of Keith Moon, I wanted to play the exact same Drum manufacturer he did. So, when I had the money, it was off to Guitar Center locate to find my Premier Kit. There amongst the Pearl's, Tamas, Ludwig etc , I see it... a 5 piece Premier XPK series in Mustard yellow ( with a brownish tone) . It was and still is beautiful and plays awesome, just like it had over 20 years or so ago!

Spent a day round the factory with Clifford DellaPorta in 1975.What a great gentleman. He had a "Queens award to Industry" on his desk....for exporting Tom Toms to the Africans, he joked.

Very cool I grew up in a small town in Michigan when I joined band the bass drum I played was Premier. My first set was a 6 psc Teal Cabria very nice set and for the price it came with wood snare and wood bass hoops. I currently have a Artist Series Maple Purple to Black fade tung oil super nice set!!! Made some personal recordings couple years ago and the guy running the studio paid to use my set for another session he was working on lol!!! Nothing but compliments on it's sound and looks!!! These are the people who built my stuff Maureen Woollatt, Kathleen Burrows and Sandra Payne!!! Their Care & Attention has kept me a Loyal customer Thanks Tremendously!!!

My first professional kit was an rosewood finish XPK I received as a graduation gift in 1989. I miss it's full sound. 20 years ago I sold it to a high school buddy who really wanted it ever since he heard me playing it and he still plays it at his church to this day. And being a devout sports fan, he also uses the floor tom to lead a popular cheer squad outside of Tampa Lightning NHL hockey games at our arena here in Florida USA. In fact, I've even seen it on TV as a result a few times. Once nationally when we won the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

I bought a secondhand Premier Resonator kit when I lived in London in the early 90s. It was a great sounding kit.

This video is amazing thanks for uploading! It's really sad to realise we won't see drum manufacturing on this scale ever again in the UK and to think back to my days working in a drum shop we were never bothered about pushing or even playing Premier. They just didn't have the X factor in the late 90s like Yamaha or Pearl. The factory was demolished and replaced with a Wickes and a Lidl 😭 which really sums up how generic and mediocre both the UK and it's citizens have become.

Totally with you. I was fortunate enough to do my work experience at the Premier factory in '98 (living only a few miles away) and I went in with a lukewarm appreciation of Premier (yearning for a Yamaha stage custom probably). Every school I went to was awash with premier equipment (in hindsight, a very generous gesture) so never really took a moment to really appreciate how well crafted each kit was. That was until I saw inside the factory!

Yes, was a sad moment to see the factory go. I used to work there and Canal St and Pullman rd prior to Station road, this vid has great memories, I worked thru most of the departments

Not old news to me. Cheap shot at a factory that not only made drums. In the 30s & 40s made Norden bomb sights that helped win WWII. Will anyone remember your sad little shop 100 years from now?
