    I traveled to Fiji when I was a teenager in 1990 with my parents. We stayed for 2 months. There was this little bakery down the street from where we were staying and more times than I can count I would go get cream buns. They have haunted me ever sense! I tried one and messed it up so I'm off for round 2 right now. This will bring back the best memories ever! I can't tell you how delicious they were straight out of the oven as a kid. There was also this village we would go stay at with the incredibly lovely family (Loved them) the wife would make this jelly like yellow "pie" like dessert for special occasions. OMG YUMMY!!!!! Fiji you were amazing to be back in the day and I truly appreciate you still. Thank you SO much for sharing this video.

      Thank you for sharing your beautiful memories. The pie you talking about is custard pie. The life in outer islands are still the same like before. Yes city life has changed.

    OMG , I baked this recipe today and it came out just perfect and so is the Butter Cream. But instead of using the whisker, I used my hand lol . But it still came out really nice and creamy. Thank you so much. I normally go down to this Fiji Indian Store here in the States every Saturday just to buy cream buns and they cost $15.00 for 12 buns. And now I can bake it on my own 😊. Thank you so much for sharing this recipe. God Bless and Stay Blessed

    Great recipe! Doughlicious haha Will make regularly now. I prefer making the cream with thickened cream rather than butter.

    I made both buns & cream today! The buns were not as perfect as yours because I was using Fahrenheit & the heat was a bit low. Made adjustment to the temperature & the inside texture of the buns were perfect! Thank you so much for this recipe. It tasted exactly like the Fiji cream buns. God bless

      It's the yeast, use yeast which has bread improver or they say flour treatment agent. I used Edmonds sure bake. This will give you light bakery style buns. Hope this will help. All the best

    • @TravelFoodAdventures
      @TravelFoodAdventures  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Unsalted butter, all the best. Please let me know how it turned out. Also use yeast which has bread improver. I used Edmond surebake, it will give you bakery style buns.

    Hello
    I want to try this recipe. Been craving for fiji cream bun for ages. Im in UK. We use Gas Mark. I bake basic cakes on gas mark 4. Should it be same temperature.?

    • @TravelFoodAdventures
      @TravelFoodAdventures  ปีที่แล้ว

      I think it should be fine. Gas mark 4 is same as 180 degrees in an electric oven. I baked mine in 170 degrees fan force.

    What kind of suger are you using? Powdered or icing suger? I've been told to use icing suger, but I can't find locally.

  • @trippy_troppy2445
    @trippy_troppy2445 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Hey, is it fine if I use salted butter instead of unsalted for butter cream?

    • @TravelFoodAdventures
      @TravelFoodAdventures  ปีที่แล้ว

      Cream will be salty. It won't taste good. If you can't find unsalted butter you can use whipped cream.

    I made it today
    Not sure what I did wrong it came out so hard,
    baking temp was 350 for 25 min it was still very white so I did another 20 min.
    Thank you for sharing,
    I will differentiate try it again.

      Some ovens are different, try increasing the temperature to 200 degrees (400 Fahrenheit). Also check the yeast you are using. I used Edmond surebake, it has a bread improver. And the dough should be softer than roti dough. Hope this helps.

    Hi what kinf of flour did you use is it fiji flour or all purpose flour we get here in USA

    • @TravelFoodAdventures
      @TravelFoodAdventures  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I used bread flour but all purpose flour works fine as well. Make sure yeast has bread improver that will give you the bakery style bread.

    Hi my cream buns come out nice except they dont brown on top as much. What's the trick. I've got fan forced oven . 😐 I

    • @TravelFoodAdventures
      @TravelFoodAdventures  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Increase the oven temperature to 190 degrees, some oven temperatures are low. Hope that helps.

    • @talicatinaviti2188
      @talicatinaviti2188 ปีที่แล้ว

      Put your oven to broil for a little bit it will make it brown but do not broil for too long. Just keep checking on it for liking color then switch it back to Bake., make sure it’s within the 25mins.

  • @lisawright63

    What flour did you use?

    • @TravelFoodAdventures
      @TravelFoodAdventures  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I used bread flour, in my country they called high grade flour. But if you can't find bread flour than use all purpose flour.

    May I know the size of the cup? Is it a big mug or small or medium? Thank you.

    • @TravelFoodAdventures
      @TravelFoodAdventures  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I used a measuring cup. The mug you saw in the video, I used it to warm the milk. All the measuring was done with measuring cups.
