Amidst the majestic mountains at an altitude of 2000 meters, winter has arrived. Our journey now takes us directly to the border with Chechnya, where we search for a secluded place to stay in the mountains.
In this icy height (late November), the night promises to be particularly cold. Here, we stand on the old smuggling route of the Chechen Georgians, an area not only marked by winter cold but also by a fascinating history. The Pankisi Valley, home to Georgian Chechens, holds stories of traditions, challenges, and a unique cultural heritage.
The paths we traverse here are not only filled with freezing temperatures but also with traces of those who once sought refuge in these mountains. Over time, the Pankisi Valley has hosted many peoples, including the Georgian Chechens, who have woven their own fascinating story into these snowy heights.
As we endure the cold of the night, we draw inspiration from the stories of the past woven into the twists and turns of this old smuggling route and the traditions of the Georgian Chechens.
