      Haylee Engles I have two fox tails up for sale. The one in this video is for sale (I just recently decided to part with it) and I have made a brand new one. I've been tinkering with it. i do plan on making an ear tut at some point. I just haven't had the time. I'm thinking of making a foam base for he ear, then sewing some fabric around the base, then sewing my fluffs to it. I have not tried yet though.

  • @Zullala
    @Zullala  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    I made this tail last year, I don't remember the shade I used. All i did was take a picture of a fox tail to the store and hold it up to the yarns in order to match the colors. And I used "I Love This Brand" yarn.
    My first tail has a small chain in the tail in order to make the core heavier.

  • @Zullala

    I used paint brush bristles as the whiskers. I attached them using liquid latex. If you are allergic to latex then you can use spirit gum and scar wax.

    Um, I think I saw a tutorial on how to brush yarn out many years ago. So, if i remember correctly, that person crocheted their base, then tied their strings to the base. Once all the strings were ties on, they simply brushed out the tail in order to separate all of the yarn :D.
    Glad my vid was helpful ^^

    You can use Red Heart if you want. Some people like it, but I personally do not. When I used it the fibers seemed to stick together more and I felt that i had to brush the tail more often. But maybe Red Heart is better in Canada.

  • @Zullala
    @Zullala  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    In the arctic fox tail, I had a small chain in the center of my yarn braid. I thought it would help it swing more.
    Thank you. I saw yarn tails on Deviant Art many years ago, but the tail I saw used a crocheted core. I don't know how to crochet, so I just made a braid instead.

    I only brush mine before wearing it and maybe after I am done wearing it, like if I go dancing while wearing it or something. Yes, there is a little shedding, but honestly, I think it would take years of brushing before it thinned out dramatically.

    First before I ask some questions, I just want to tell you how much I love your fox tail and how fabulous it is. Can you explain how to make a lighter core for the tail? Would you just use less yarn or instead of doing a 4 strand braid would you just do a normal 3 strand braid? Also what color did you use for the orange? Was it "Love This Yarn" burnt pumpkin or was it something else? Thanks so much and keep up the great work.

  • @Zullala
    @Zullala  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Well, I took a picture of a fox tail with me to the store. I just really looked at it in order to see the shades. I noticed that the main color was a penny red, but that it did indeed have some brown to it. So, I just bought a little thing of brown yarn and I mixed the brown yarn with some of the red yarn. When I sewed the fluffs on, I just payed attention to where I put the brown and red fluffs. I hope that helps ^_^

  • @Zullala
    @Zullala  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Ok, so for my white wolf tail I used a thin chain in the middle of my braid. I thought it would help the tail swing more, but it didn;t make a difference. So, the lighter core is just yarn. You can't really do a three strand braid easily. It's better to have a 4 strand braid for the loop. I don't remember what colors I used, sorry. I just took a picture of a fox tail to the store with me. I then held the picture up to the yarns.
    No problem! I'm glad you like it.

    @Zullala  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Naw, in my white wolf tail I used a small chain in the middle of my yarn braid. I thought it would help it swing better. It does swing a little more, but it's not worth the extra weight.

  • @Ray1624
    @Ray1624 10 ปีที่แล้ว

    SOOO pretty! What brand of yarn are you using? Mine never comes out that pretty!

  • @Zullala
    @Zullala  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    I used one skein of white, 4 skeins of red and one small skein of brown for the accents within the tail. Then the final skein was used in the middle to make the braid.

  • @Zullala
    @Zullala  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    OOOooo you must make a vid when you complete it! I too have thought of making an animatronic tail. But I would just use a remote or program it with some basic movements. Yours sounds way cool O_O.

  • @Zullala
    @Zullala  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    In my arctic fox tail I used a four strand braid and a rope. In this tail I used only a three strand braid. (I use braided yarn for the core of my tails).

  • @Zullala
    @Zullala  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    I think I used one, but I always start with the tip, that way I can more easily visualize how the entire tail will turn out. Like after I put some white on, I hold the tail up to see if that;s how much white I want. Foxes are all different and some have more or less white. So, it's ok to add as much or as little as you want :D

      You can just use the wolf tail tutorial and then instead of sewing on gray fluffs, sew on white fluffs and then sew on red fluffs. I don't know of any tutorials that are that specific. But all you need to do is use different colored yarn for different results. The process is exactly the same :)

      Zullala I'm confused. What do you mean by "light chain in the tail?"

    • @Zullala
      @Zullala  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      I used a small, metal chain inside the tail. It was half the size of a swing set chain.
      The chain was supposed to help the tail swing more naturally, but the tail swings fine even without the chain. No need to weigh the tail down unnecessarily.

    Hi Zullala! I hope to get a tail from you someday(hopefully soon). What would a fluffy cat tail(kinda like a mainecoon) and 18-20 in with two colors be priced at?

      Hello Flame Pool and thank you for your interest. However I'm not making yarn tails at this time. I have the making tails from faux fur if that's something you're interested in but I haven't had time to work on yarn tails as of late. I suggest checking out my Instagram (@Zullalas.Shop) to see a full portfolio of all the different tails I have made. You can also check out my Etsy shop. I'm just Zullala on Etsy :)

    When you mention heat-treating the fluff, do you mean to use a flat-iron? If so, what heat setting? Thx!

    • @Zullala
      @Zullala  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Trina Ingole Yep, use a flat iron. My flat iron doesn't have any setting.

      +Trina Ingole Go for the lowest setting and see how it manages. :)

    i wanted to know what kind of yarn did u use for this work?? since I´ve asked and the acrilic yarn is not a good idea for what people have told me. I need this info for my cosplay so I´ll be pleased if you answer this question for me.

      Nekro Shiel I use "I Love This Yarn" brand. It works great for me. All my tails are made from it. Also, check out my tutorial on how I made this tail (well not this tail in the vid, but a tail of the same basic design).

      It is a park so there were a few people outside. I tried to wait for everyone to leave but a couple of women happened by without me noticing and actually gave me some nice compliments haha.

    Do you have any tips whatsoever on anything before I actually try to make one I've never really done anything crafty like this before and I would really like to try it because I love foxes lol

      +Liberty Holly I can't think of any special tips. I tried to show my exact method in my tutorial. Good luck and be sure to give a quick read through the FAQs on my tut videos :D

    Just a quick question, what color yarn did you use for the whole tail? I'm going to make a Holo from Spice and Wolf cosplay and the color is perfect for what I need

    • @Zullala
      @Zullala  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Felicity O'reilly I'm sorry, I don't remember the color. I just matched the color of a picture of a fox with the color of the yarn
