How anyone can not like this video is beyond me. This place is now on my bucket list and I realize now I need to learn the history and migration pattern of our human population. The artifacts in this museum are so ahead of their time in regards to the technology of that day. Thank you so much for sharing! Happy travels and stay well!

i enjoyed seeing everything in the museum there, especially the 1275 y.o. cauldron, the pots with the faces, and the beautiful glassware which I don't think I've ever seen so much of in one place.
Good to hear you're eating properly Dan ... gotta put the right fuel in your tank to keep digging and detecting, exploring and sharing all the history and beauty and knowledge through the ages 'til now. and telling it like it was and is. It's hard to take in and get your head around sometimes.

Rotten luck losing your dongle, and that it took so long to find another and get it all sorted out. At least you found some things on the beach (£1 and that nice Swedish coin, very good!). The museum was outstanding - very interesting to see the mosaics and small statues, quite beautiful! Thanks once again for doing all this hard work. Glad you're feeling better. As always, GL&HH, and travel safe! d8^)

What they call Colchester Castle is actually just the Castle Keep and below ground level is a Roman Temple. Also Dan its Frinton on Sea and yes its very posh unlike Clacton or Walton on Sea. Go to the Naze end of Walton and you will find cliffs with fossils in. Family members go there and have found shark teeth and other things. I live between Colchester and Clacton and love the history around here. Glad to hear you're feeling better and looking after yourself Dan, take care, good luck and happy hunting Mary-Ellen

    • @thechrissyb

Frinton is posh in the gates ☺, I said to Dan he should pop to Mersea see what's on the beaches there.

Loving your videos Dan..Don't get discouraged! What your doing for those children is special!!! Don't you forget that ok? I'm from the United States and I'm Enjoying the museums as well as the digging:O) If you get too many trashy beaches.. you might try seeing if you can get permission to dig a few sights or fields just inland of the beaches....their part of the coastline as well;) Glad to see your feeling better..missed your smile and your jokes:)

Hi Dan, Sorry you didn't have a lot of time in Colchester, but I bet it would be one place you would love to come back to. I live in Walton-on-the-naze and am sorry to have missed you in September.
If you have a bit of spare time, I did a few tours of Colchester Castle myself with the family and the video's are on my channel, I filmed them in August 2016.
All the best, Tina & Jason.
