These are for the people who want to memorize the locations and find specific ones without scrolling through the video a hundred times. A "global" one means every one can the token. However some require/recommend certain characters/shields/skills in order to get some. Here are the timestamps in almost-level appearance order:

How do you get the first token with Fang?
@@vistagunner With Fang, I think you can use the yellow spring near the sector with the second token on the ground to get on the high path and bounce your way over to the roof with the first token. As for the one on the ground, you can't. That was a mistake I made. Fang can't get the first one, actually.
for cez2 WHAT ABOUT TAILS
@@skrink1014 I think Tails can get most, if not, all 5 tokens in CEZ2.
MAN this game gets super difficult starting with the Egg Castle. Refreshing for a sonic game

So depending on what character ur playing as, if u do well on finding the tokens and clearing the special stages, you should have all the emeralds by either THZ2 or DSZ2.
particularly still in awe of how many are in DSZ1
sure, CEZ2 also has 5 but they're mostly in alcoves that you'd definitely eventually spot as Tails or Knuckles, DSZ1 is like "ohh that's what that does" and it's great

Man thanks for this cuz I did a play through of this game and I got all 7 Chaos Emeralds by DSZ 1
This definitely helped getting access to the special stages. Beating said stages? I managed to beat the first four first try the first time I played this, but it took me 3 or 4 tries to get past number 5, 6 or 8 to get past number 6, and I never got past number 7 due to it's stupid gimmicks(yeah I'm talking about that idiotic fan room). I swear, all of these were easier in 2.1, but they're now harder. PLEASE, Sonic Team Junior, tone down on the difficulty!

I was uploading videos for guie tokens
im gonna save this so i can come back to it later. the special stage was so hard i got really mad and i turned off my switch bc it was annoyingly hard.
The last one in castle eggman 2 doesn't require spindash at all, the bookshelves can be climbed on (maybe reveal a spring, it's been a while so I'm not sure), I'm like 99.8% sure it's global (tho your way of doing it was fucken sick)
what is the 0.2% of you is sure its *not* global
I was following this guide, only getting one token each time, not bothering with the extra ones.... The. I discovered that you can enter a special stage more than once with multiple tokens.

Question, how are you freely swapping between third and first person view like that?
press V to switch between first and third person, otherwise you have to bind it in the settings

Its funny how u can be supersonic in special stages cuz those are to get emeralds and need 7 to get supersonic
the video is great, but it gets kinda hard to see at times. i'd recommend you'd change your renderer from software to opengl
the video was made before the opengl option got added

i hate the special stages tbh the last one there really isnt enough ti me to make it back especially since you have to cut through all that bs to get to it and some items like the timer wont spawn like it should or would spawn mega slow causing you to have to make haste and still not make it regardless, I feel like it needs a patch but then again I probably just suck.
I agree with you even if I has not made it to the 7th emerald and heck even trying to get to a special stage is hard I would have rather go to a special stage with 50 rings or if any thing they should of kept your coins if you failed to get enough rings to get the special stage so yeah I hope the difficulty gets lowered cause 5 minutes ago I raged cause I was struggling with completing a level with 50 rings and the coin

So I’m not saying this is a bad guide but they way you do it is not a good way to perform a guide since you just jump cut rather than leading us to the spot from the level start
I knew making a guide like this without commentary or text would, one way or another, be somewhat difficult to follow which is why I start each clip in a specific area (like at a checkpoint, usually around path merges like the CEZ courtyard checkpoint).
Only zone in which this way of thinking would fall apart would be DSZ because there's a lot of path splits, drops into other paths, and path merging which makes it easy to get lost then locked into a path.
Most jumpcuts are me cutting out the time it takes to get to the area of importance, usually where you'd be locked into or getting merged into or are already following the path towards the token(s) anyways so it's not like I randomly cut whenever and wherever without thinking about it.
The Emerald Token guide on the wiki is mostly updated for 2.2 now so you can hit that up for a text guide as well.
