I'm a NSW fan but the only people trying to excuse Sua'lii's tackle are just diehards or bogans who would still be in Disneyland if they were on the receiving end. Sua'lii's "tackle" showed exactly why shoulder charges were banned in both rugby codes twelve years ago. It's because they can go badly wrong if the ball-player player even slightly changes direction or height, which is a high possibility. Even in soccer if you leave the ground and jump into a tackle - ie lose control - it's an automatic red card. Sua'lii' launched himself like a missile, shoulder first, which is illegal, so there is simply no argument left of "he moved, so it wasn't my fault". It was totally his own fault, and he's a lucky boy that Walsh didn't break his neck. And as for Maguire, I'd hoped we were getting a new way of thinking, but his comments even today make it clear that he still thinks it's the 70s. He is making Tommy Raudonikis sound like a Rhodes Scholar.

That was a good comment. The NSW coach was even trying to compare the Walsh cheekbone fracture incident in the same category. Does he think we are stupid or is it that he is unable to accept responsibility for way one of his players tackled. I would like to bet that he chose Suaalii to do the job that got him into trouble.

Big hits are promoted at this level and are expected by the fans. State of origin is losing its punch in my eyes.

Seriously. If Walsh doesn't slip over backwards, Joe smashes him in the sternum. And everyone is talking what a hit. The tackle action was legit, the key factor that changed it was the slip.
That tackle was exactly the same as Martin on Hopgood except... Hopgood didn't slip over. And slip over backwards where your momentum carries you higher up the attackers body.
And my fave - Slater playing the martyr. The same clown that got away with high shots and knees year after year after year. You just gotta laugh.

I thought Tedesco was offside watching it live, but when watching back at slow speed he was just onside. I also thought DCE was offside when he took the intercept, but again when I watched it back it was ok. The skill levels of the modern players are awesome.

The sooner these fullbacks learn to catch and pass instead of dipping and making a pretty fade away pass off the hip instead of one motion catch pass right to left .. they all do it . He got what he deserved .0001 of a second to react

The hit on Reece was so horrible - Nsw staff use ethics in your training. What message are u sending to younger players.

need to change outdated rule, the rule did not change to accommodate 18th man. still a send off, but only play 12 men for 10 minutes then a bench player can come on. unless its late in the game most teams will never recover. when he was sent i was thinking the scoreline will be 50-10 or 50-6 QLD

All that would do is invite thuggery because of minimal consequences. The better answer is for players and coaches to get the clear message that if you recklessly hit an opponent's head with a shoulder charge you'll be sent off.

I want forced interchanges instead, no send offs, or 10 in the bin. 10 in the bin ruins games too.
