I received more then few emails and comments from individuals who own the 13900ks processor. The missing resistor was measured in circuit and off circuit confirming the 100ohm reading both ways. The fact that this was done by almost half a dozen individuals, it is safe to say that the proper value of the resistor is 100ohms. I ended up replacing the 150 ohm resistor with 100ohm value. Thank you for all those who contributed. You make the world a better place.

I was searching and searching for an inexpensive stereo microscope years ago until I saw your video talking about why you used HDMI, it made perfect sense and I changed my mind and purchased an HDMI scope instead. I bought a cheaper one, cause I couldn't afford your kit at the time, your scope quality is top notch, my cheap scope doesn't look half as nice as yours. But it enables me to get jobs done, and increase my skill.
Thanks for doing all the things you do.

I repaired a 12700k with same issue, it worked with 150 ohm, but could not post with 2 ram sticks at 4800mhz(could post with one). I switched to 100ohm and I could post with 4 rams at 4800. I guessed the value based on the other components, which were 2k, 150, 100, 50 ohms. Hope this helps.

maybe i9 with 150 ohm and i7 with 100 ohm
or maybe because both are different gen

    • @Jimmy-bc2cd
      @Jimmy-bc2cd 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Yeah, I think it might be some voltage divide identification, since the cpu might not have firmware in it. I’m too lazy to check, but if that is true, then the high side of the capacitor should be shorted to the high side resistor, and low side ground with low side resistor. Anyway, i think the same gen should be the same value, since they mostly have the same ram specs.

Life of a soldering tip depends mostly of the maintenance you apply to it.
Always leave solder on it between use to avoid oxidation when power on , and just before use clean it and use fresh solder.
When job is finish, clean it and put fresh solder on it before turning it off.
With this very simple routine, every tip from known manufacturer will last a very very long time.
If you destroy a well known brand tip in a month, it is because you don't maintain it properly, just that simple.

Yep you are correct there. I have both JBC tips and some of these knock offs of all 3 handles. The C115-210-245 and all of mine have had daily use for almost a year now. I think I’ve had to replace 1 C245 but proper maintenance and always having clean solder on your tip when you turn it off really extends the tip life.

it's so deceiving how small these components are when viewing it through a microscope. I recently had an issue where I knocked two resistors off of my RTX 3080 when replacing the thermal pads and thankfully I have a really good camera on my S22U and posted the pic to reddit and someone was able to tell me where the resistors went. I found one of the tiny resistors stuck to the old thermal pad by the VRAM modules, it was smaller then a grain of rice and just looked like a metal flake on the thermal pad. Luckily, I found a local shop that was able to fix it. I had just gotten the GPU a week prior and paid $560 for it so needless to say it was a disaster when I plugged it in and found out it was broke, but disaster averted. I'm so thankful for people like Alex who know how to do this stuff.

Great Job As usual Alex, I love your videos..
I just wanna hint at something, if you measure 114Ohms on-circuit.. it's for sure that the measurement off-circuit must be higher than that .. (as your measurement verified).. it would never be 114ohms in-circuit and 100 off-circuit.
(As you know,, other parallel components in the circuit would reduce the measured resistance not increase it)
Keep up the great work 👍 we're learning a lot from you

Looking through the ecommerce items for test equipment you use. im looking to source a bench power supply with built-in Type C usb port with power delivery PD. I think PD built in would be a useful feature.

So it's not so much that they're "limited in production" and more that there are very few chips that come off the fab line perfect enough to qualify as a KS or K variant. The same generation of CPUs actually only have a few different chip designs but they make dozens of processor models out of those few designs. What they do is blow fuses in the chip to disable certain features to create the various processor models available. When a chip comes out of fab, it is benchmarked and all functions are checked, most of the time at least one of the function checks fail; maybe it's a bad core, maybe some of the onboard cache doesn't work right, etc. When they get a failure, they find out what processor model that chip could still become without the failed component and blow all of the fuses to disable everything that isn't part of that particular model's spec. For example, maybe they start with an 8 core chip but 3 of those cores come back as bad; if the chip were perfect, they could sell it as an i7 model with all 8 cores but, because some of those cores tested bad, they blow the fuses that control access to 4 of the cores, including the bad cores, and sell it as an i5 model.

You are quite a philosopher. My problem is that I do everything for others & deprive myself of stuff I would like to have.
The following quote was made by me when I was 22years of age: DONT EVER EXPECT ANYTHING FROM ANYONE SO YOU WILL NEVER BE DISAPPOINTED! IF BY THE GRACE OF GOD SOMETHING GOOD HAPPENS AS A CONSEQUENCE OF YOU HELPING OTHERS, IT WILL ALWAYS BE A SURPRISE! I am now 70 years old and still do what is best for everyone in need, this is why I still need to work. I am a doctor and have a good salary, but a soft heart for those who are in need! I put the needs of others before my own needs! Most people including my wife and children think I am an Idiot. Maybe so, but a happy one at that!

Doesn't the board interfere with measurements just because the components are in circuit? In case of components connected in parallel somewhere ?

Yeah. It happens more often than not. People asking for some of the most basic information without an easy quick search. I'll get a text from someone saying something like "hey bro, what time does the restaurant we like close?" I'll say "I don't know, let me Google and see" then I'll send a screenshot of the hours that came up on the search
