    I just sold two 20 gram bars to JM Bullion. One of the 20gram bars (valcambi) which not wrapped and and in a slip. The other was a Perth wrapped in Assay. Guess what? I got the same amount for each one. It didn't matter.

    To start, I like the idea of these quick and dirty videos - they keep things short, sweet and focused so in exchange for a penny for my thoughts, I'll vote to keep giving us your two cents.
    To address the topic - three letters - NBO - never been opened.
    NBO adds value to anything that's collectable.
    It also protects the item - I scored some silver Eagles from a shop and several were in the Littleton Coin plastic sleeves but one sleeve was sufficiently damaged that I tossed it so I could have an Eagle to handle and show to folks.
    That Eagle has become tarnished, has dirt in grooves and has picked up a ding or two - the ones still in the crappy plastic sleeves are all clean, shiny and perfect shape.
    While the melt value of them is all the same, were I to put the handled one and one of the sleeved ones on eBay for auction, I have no question I could get a few bucks more for the sleeved one as the opened one looks terrible.
    The wife has scored me the Kook, Kruger and other silvers and they still look in mint condition in their protective cases and will therefore easily hold their premiums should I ever have to sell them.
    So yes, while there is a certain joy to the feel of one or more ounces of silver or gold in your hand, limit that joy to as few things as possible and do your best to keep the rest of your stack in good, clean, as close to mint as you can condition since I know I would only pay spot for my opened Eagle, but would be willing to pay some premium - $2 at the time I got them - for the NBO ones.

    • @CampbellsCoins
      @CampbellsCoins  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I’m kind of torn on the coins in plastic because in these cases, it does nothing but protect the coin. Does nothing for authentication.

  • @contrailing9120
    @contrailing9120 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    The value isn't dependent on the packaging when you sell unless you are dealing with an unsavory pawn shop. All bullion is sold as new or secondary market depending solely on the source the bullion dealer acquired it. From a mint or metal producer direct?... new. Any other source they MUST sell it as secondary market. In that case you may or may not take delivery of your PM bullion in a sealed package. I get some new bullion in ziplock bags. I can't remove it? Lmao! Keep yours in the package and tell me all about the premium you got when you sold them that without the packaging they wouldn't have paid you. Keep your assay credentials in a safe place to provide the buyer when and if you sell but by all means... handle your gold and/or silver with bare hands and enjoy your hard earned purchase as intended. Numismatic? Different story altogether but the video maker wasn't even aware of the distinction to mention it to the viewers. My two cents.

    • @CampbellsCoins
      @CampbellsCoins  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can test my statements with multiple LCS. Everything that isn’t a current year is secondary market. Don’t believe me, check out older bullion on any online dealer website. A lot of this product is purchased from LCSs around the county. It’s only listed as secondary market if there are handling marks, if it’s missing an assay or some other issue.

    I hate the asseycards. They look awefull with all the different colours. I just want the colour of gold. I think bars are cooler than coins but hate the asseycards. You cant really stack them nice either. I did cut out a 50g PAMP bar and put it in a capsule for the perth mint dragon silvar bars. It fit perfect and I can buy them without the silverbar in it. I have a big doubt if I should only stack the 50g PAMP and put them in the capsule. It look so awesome but the thought of the product loosing value is a it annoying. Thinking about only coins from now on. Can anyone help? :)

Even all the 1/10 maples I have are all mint sealed and when it comes time to sell the premium will be there and the ease of validating it’s authenticity is there too.
