In my practice clinching, I always find that when I pivot my opponent comes along with me so I dont have enough space to knee. How can I prevent them from stepping right back close to me when I try to open space in the clinch?

My knee feels tense. I guess this is flesh hurting, but sometimes I have very subtle knee pain
