- Is this video already outdated because I recorded it the night the trailer came out and Monolith started posting more stuff as it was rendering? You bet it is! Will that stop me from trying to discern all I can before the DLC comes out in only a couple days? Of course not!

Just a reminder: the audio for this was recorded the night the trailer came out and is only based on the trailer itself and the first wave of additional Japanese information. Obviously some official English stuff, as well as more Japanese info has come out since then (it started while this video was rendering so that's neat), which means this analysis is launching already aging poorly. Basically, if something an official source has said contradicts something I say here, go ahead and ignore that. I'll try to still get the Earth destruction video done before Tuesday, but I won't be doing any analysis on any other Future Redeemed stuff before I'm done with it. At this point it's so close to release that we can all just wait.
I dunno if anyone has said this yet or if you have but do you think that Ethel is a descendant of A, because she has the same hair and also uses fencing techniques?

Re Joanne Hogg: from what I can tell from TH-cam dates and her website, she's still very much active. Her last Xeno project was Xenogears 20th anniversary in 2016, so she's clearly open to a return!
perfectly understandable. Honestly nobody will need to see the pre release stuff with the story launching in a week anyway. I hope you enjoy the expansion story! I know you wanted a sequel more but it seems like we are getting just enough here and it will prob be bigger than Torna.
Fun fact: you could also see alvis's stats/armor and gems he has equipped if you lose the fight by makna falls. You have a couple of seconds where you won't get aggroed where you can look into the menu. He had level 6 unbeatable gem, which I thought was purely for him, and unobtainable, basically his plot armor gem. So that was cool
Not gonna lie, I'm gonna miss Luxin's movie series and he's probably not gonna make another one until a new game is reaveled.

It's bittersweet, but we know Monolithsoft will cook up some delicious feasts in the future REDEEMED, plus I'm sure Luxin will direct and star in some very cool spinoff short films here and there over the next few years. Gotta wonder why they took so long to reveal Mio and ESPECIALLY Noah amiibo till after the game's life cycle is basically complete tho

36:16 I think the biggest part of this line is the “my god” part. Z not only knows who Alvis is, but acknowledges his superiority? To me, this means evil Alvis is SO powerful that he forces Shulk and Rex to briefly team up with Z because the bois want to be free from the Endless Now and Z wants it to continue to exist, but this Alvis wants NOTHING to continue to exist.
I'm too suspicious. I think Z is controlling Alvis and using him as a scapegoat.

I always considered Alvis to be the most powerful of the Trinity Processors, given that he allowed Shulk to recreate the entire Universe from scratch and all that. Potentially only behind the Nopon Archsage and the Conduit in terms of power too.

I think Alvis had unique powers in the XC1 universe because it was a new universe created by the conduit that Alvis sort of merged with at the time of creation, while the other ones just continued to exist in the normal universe. I don't think Alvis would be as powerful if he were in another universe, but given XC3's world I can't rule out the possibility Alvis could have the same kind of power - but for all we know Origin is powered by Pyra and Mythra

Nikol straight up just has Fiora's hair and eyes. That boy is 110% their son.
The Liberators seem to be people outside the flow, not bound by the life system Z created. Because of this, they don't age since time is frozen. If that is the case, Riku being in the Liberators would make a lot of sense! He could be from one of the worlds before they merged, not be enslaved by Z, and now he just sorta meanders between important people. That would mean he knows the truth of the world, and maybe teamed up with Shulk to make Lucky Seven.
This would make Riku a common variety nopon, but he just happens to be immortal because time is frozen.
That would also explain how Melly survived being chained up for 1600 years without getting in a cozy stasis pod
@@MaxWelton Yeah, they kinda tricked us when the 2 people from previous games are both races that live for a long time, but it turns out any of the races can live for thousands of years as long as they don't enter THE FLOW.
but people in the city are not bound by Z's control, and they age normally. so if you're right, that means all the Liberators are people who lived outside of Aionios...then we have to speculate how they ended up inside of Aionios without becoming a part of Z's cycle

Also one of the best ways to keep shulk safe is, you guessed it, agility gems. Higher speed = better evasion
I’m thinking the “gift from Alvis” refers to the Sword of Origin/the End. We know that the sword finds its origin with Melia, and it’s very Monado like, so it could be Alvis gifted the Sword of Origin/the End to Melia, and Nia’s explanation could have been slightly inaccurate.
Nia could have intentionally omitting things as you not overwhelm the kids. IE.the devs worke dher dialogue that way to not confuse new players to xeno.

@@Movel0 The Nopon created it according to Riku, and according to Nia it was made through Melia’s heart resonating with Origin. I’m assuming that both explanations aren’t entirely accurate, which could explain the incongruities.

This is already common knowledge and pretty straightforward? 2 and 3 point it out pretty blatantly. Torna comes first taking place 500 years before 2. Then 1 and 2 take place at the same time. Then FC takes place a year and a half after the end of 1. FR takes place roughly 20ish years later based on rough appearances of Shulk and Rex. Then 3 takes place 1000 years after that.
The only oddball is X, which is either an entirely different universe, or a different perspective on the Klaus incident. If the later is true, it takes place first, being "eons" before Torna.

He probably took on many different appearances throughout the ages, in order to not raise suspicion with the High Entia. "Alvis" might just be the appearance and personality Ontos happened to take during the events of XC1.

I want a long and conveluted monolouge at some point that explains how literally everyone in the xenoblade universe is decended from Rex.
The Z, Shulk and Rex vs Alvis scene, with the dialogue from both trailers, make it seem to be that Alvis calculated that the only way to eliminate Mobius was to wipe everything clean, since "there is a bit of mobius in everyone" -final fight in the base game. And Shulk and Rex want to find another way, so they are teaming up to stop alvis from wiping everything.
My theory is that Alvis was always separated from his core since even before 1. We never once see him with the core itself, only a necklace resembling it which is why A similarly has an earring, another piece of jewelry only resembling it but not the core itself. The scene where Shulk says “it’s a gift from Alvis” and it zooms in on the processor and then specifically Ontos’ core must mean that Alvis literally left is core behind behind for them. We know from the end of 2 that an aegis can remain alive without their core for some time, and with Alvis being stronger than his siblings perhaps he can exist indefinitely without his. So now his core is a sort of power source to be used by humanity, and our new cat girl gets her hands on it somehow
Love where you are going with this. I had a similar feeling. Like why was Alvis' core adorned with golden jewelry-like details, as well as A's. It would make a ton of sense and add a lot of depth if there was more to core's meaning.

Idk if you mention this later but A's art Cross Ray is actually a direct reference to Alvis. Since in XC1 during the battle where Alvis and Shulk fight a telethia. If you use a chain attack you can see that Alvis has an art called Cross Ray which is SUPER COOL ATTENTION TO DETAIL because it's literally one attack that probably less than 5% of players saw since its hidden behind a chain attack in one singular fight in the whole game in a game that released over a decade ago. My mind is blown at how much monolith allowed this story and detail to marinate for.

Little known fact: You can just... play as Alvis during that fight. So his arts aren't locked behind a chain attack.
I wouldn't recommend doing it for any other reason than to see Alvis up close, AI Shulk in that fight is atrocious.

@@ShurikanBlade Same way you can play as any of the temp party members, like Dickson. You swap them when you get prompted with the party prep screen before the fight.
It shows up any time your party changes; whether someone new is added or when they leave.

Nevermind what I said, you can't play as either Alvis or Dickson when they're in your party, the game won't let you swap them into the 1st party slot.
However, I am adamant that my very vivid memory of playing as Alvis and having an excruciating time because Shulk refused to use Purge wasn't completely fabricated, so now I'm going to go back to every version of the game, start a brand new save file AND a NG+ file each, until I verify whether I Mandella'd myself or not.

Joanne Hogg appeared in and performed at the 20th Anniversary Xenogears concert in 2018. She's still active as a singer, and released a single on April 1 of this year.

I think that’s Glimmer’s Ouroboros. My only reason is I really don’t want Shulk and Rex to get Ouroboros powers because that’d screw Cassini and Spear Sharla out of doing cool stuff in their own game.
Only 6 Ouroboros can exist at one time, so Shulk and Rex might die mid-game so we can play as Spearla and Cassini

Nikol and Glimmer might end up being together due to the fact that they are in a similar position as Noah and Mio as well as being in most of the promotional material together. Honestly it would be on brand for this game to pair up characters who are more than likely Shulk and Rex’s children as it would mean that’s one more couple that needs to be reunited after the worlds’ separation.
This also means that Glimmer inherited her mom's taste in short kings.

9:59 they also confirm you don’t need a functioning Iris to call your Blade. We already kinda knew this because reborn Cammuravi is blind in his eye but can still fight and pass his Class along, but Rex’s Iris has been straight-up cut through. Despite seeing through Noah’s Iris when he first calls the Veiled Sword, we now know the Iris isn’t necessary to use Blades in the Endless Now.
(Also original Cammuravi could still control his Ferronis while actively bleeding from where his Agnian eye used to be, and the SmoulderCoat Ferroniss controls are more or less their normal Blades in hologram form since they use bigger versions of those Blades.)
(Also also Melly and Nia have their normal weapons but they vanish and reappear like Aionian Blades and we’ve known that since base game)
Term Ouroboros did exist prior to events of DLC. Remember memories of previous N incarnations. The very first one was with character saying "we've managed to activate the Ouroboros stone". And this memory is supposed to happen long before Noah became N (hence long before events of the DLC).
Calling it now. Noah and Mio's amiibo will give you the N and M armor.

Well we've now learned that Na'el has her iris in her left eye like her brother. So I guess that means either they can't interlink or people who have a mix of kevesi and agnian blood can interlink regardless of the placement of their iris.
I have to say I love the idea of the main characters/heroes being enemies. They could be replacements for the unique monsters so they don't respawn and break immersion. On another note I really hope that we get the ability to use the future redeemed classes, at least in challenge mode. I just want to see Eunie dual wielding the Aegis swords.
About the weapon names: In 焰光の双剑, 焰 (Homura) and 光 (Hikari) are Pyra and Mythra's Japanese names. As for Glimmer, i am no native speaker but as far as i can tell, 奏 means play (music), so 奏炎士 means someone who plays fire as melody, which is reflected in her battle animation. In 奏杖·天火明, 奏杖 looks like the weapon type, meaning a staff that can also be used as a instrument. 天火明 should be the weapon's name, meaning Bright Divine Flames.
54:20 Also, using the backpack would put a target on Nikol’s back. We know that using non-Blade weapons is not OK in the eyes of Moebius, Keves and Agnus, thanks to D’s flashback. There is no way Moebius would allow Nikol to use a weapon that can’t steal life energy if they found out about him

I wanna point out that Shulk and Rex, if mirrored, have Guts' wounds from Berserk. He gets a metal prosthetic left arm and loses his right eye. That has to be intentional
They each mirror Dunban and Zeke respectively, which I'd say is far more likely then a random Berserk reference.
@@33link333 Dunban never lost his arm, though. He had severe nerve damage, but he didn't lose the arm at all. In fact, he'd been regaining some use of it over time. He would've been fine by the end. Shulk straight up loses the arm entirely. And it is replaced with a metal prosthetic. On top of that, Zeke never lost the eye. It's just some weird power spike that defies logic when he unleashes the Eye of Shining Justice. He covers it with an eye patch. Rex not only loses the eye, but he doesn't keep an eye patch, instead opting to just leave it closed. Both of them have a more severe variation of their mentors' stuff and choose to wear it in exactly the way Guts does.
New subtitles just dropped. R is whom A stabbed, QR is the Moeb who stitched the Ferronises to themself, and SPEAR SHARLA IS NAMED PANACEA. PANACEA REID. WE HAVE A NAME FOR THE 5TH (possible) FOUNDER

Or, some crazy fan theory, maybe everyone has the potential for a transformation but it takes influence from Origin to unlock it. Either Oroboros or Mobius. And since Matthew seems to be have the ability to pass along Oroboros, it wouldn't be too surprising if A got a transformation from being around him.

I'd like to point out that what you call fogbeasts actually look a lot more like the fog king
in future connected, fogbeasts were regular enemies corrupted by fog energy, while the fog king was pure fog energy taking the form of another enemy, and the fog creatures we see in future redeemed seem to be fog energy taking the form of various regular enemies rather than corrupting them
it's possible these enemies will still be referred to as fogbeasts in the game (and I think it'd make more sense than having multiple fog kings) but I still thought it was worth pointing out
I think Z is debating against Shulk and Rex to Alvis about what should be done. That also means Rex is talking about Z when he says “heartless machine” which makes sense because that is basically what he is.
It’d be funny for Z to be calling Shulk, the man who was a god for 2 minutes, his god. Z could be blaming Shulk for summoning Alvis for whatever reason.
Rex was referring to Alvis, though. “Nothing’s gonna get through to [them]” is the classic “evil brainwashed old friend” line, Rex is looking at Alvis as he says that, and it’s a reply to what Shulk shouted at Alvis

@@MaxWelton I do think that line is still directed at Alvis but more as a comeback against Shulk and Rex who, as they want to end the Endless Now, wants Alvis to wipe Moebius out.
It’s also pretty clear that there’s some weird time stuff going on here with Shulk and Rex since they would be probably over 100 if they entered Aionios at the time of its creation, so they are probably rocketed forward in time to the point where this expansion takes place. And we know for sure that these are original Shulk and Rex since they are wearing the same clothes as they were when confronting Alvis.
My thoughts on alvis is the paradox of alvis becoming a God against the directive he was given by shulk caused him to split like zanza did, where the machine, ontos was left behind, while the personality became A who assists the party to try and fix their own fuck up
Adam Howden is the only English VA confirmed for the English cast. Chances are he's the only major cast member that is returning. And the other characters (especially Rex) has a new actor voicing them.
47:30 regarding the Noah and Mio amiibo, it’s possible they could be used to finally unlock their moebius armor permanently for both characters. Just a hunch though but I have no idea what other specific function they could be used for in Xenoblade 3.
It’s also worth noting that the description in the tweet for the Pyra and Mythra amiibo mention how they can be used to unlock something after a certain event in XC3 as well. The same might apply for Noah and Mio.
I will say, when discussing the relationship chart you note that A is separate from the other factions - while it is true that she isn't in a colored box with the other characters, she and Alvis are both in the negative space left behind.

1:19:39 you are wrong. When N dies in that scene with Ghondor in the woods, he leaves his sword behind when he turns into light. This means N’s Blade is a replica of L7 and not the other way around. Ghondor picked it up, carried it around until he passed it on to Riku, and the rest is history. N made his Blade resemble L7 and the Purple Veiled Sword just cuz that’s what he’s used to; it’s obvious that is has different powers to L7.
1:05:21 I think Reid will be playable. It’d be weird to make a Founders DLC only to give preferential treatment to 4 Founders, so I think Rex and Shulk will leave the party at some point, or it’s like 2, so you have 9 party members but only 6 or 7 can be played as in any given battle.

43:04 to me, the building looks like a normal-ass suburban Earth house from the 21st century. Like, I recognize that building style from where I live. My guess is that A somehow has access to data on what Earth was like before the Experiment, even before it was fucked up enough to make Klaus want to change the world. A says “[humans] having built the perfect world for themselves.” This contrasts heavily with how Klaus characterized pre-Experiment Earth, but is somewhat consistent with how Nia understood it in her Hero Quest. Slightly.

I think A is the personalety that got createt after Melia resonatet with the Ontos Core since Alvis is the original personalety before resonating .
Since the original personalety disapears by reasonating with the core alvis tried to transfer himself into the logos processor and got corrupted by it.

I'll note two things, one of which came after this was recorded.
1) The Japanese title for the expansion translates to "A New Future." That's interesting since the Japanese title for Future Connected literally just translated as "Future Connected," so the original title is important and the English localization is deliberate. I think that Japanese title suggests even more than the English one the possibility that this isn't wholly a prequel. I guess "a new future" could refer to the one that the party in base game XC3 create by ending Aionios, but that's kind of a stretch. I think it's very possible that this game could end with something like an epilogue post-XC3, but the title "A New Future" seems to possibly indicate some timeline shenanigans or something of the sort. "Future Redeeemed" is vague enough to be able to just apply to base XC3, but "A New Future" seems more likely to imply **something** in this expansion beyond just prequel content.
2) We've now seen a clip from XenobladeJP on Twitter with characters at level 4, and only two of the party members are present at that point, indicating it could actually be toward the very beginning of the game. Combine this with the footage of characters at level 65, and Future Redeemed could be even longer than Torna, which finished around level 50 and started at level 1.
Wait. The statues that feature Shulk and Rex in the hall of founders mention that the founders they mentored chose to represent Shulk and Rex instead of themselves. That means that we’re gonna meet at least two other founders, if i’m right. Then there’s the one that refused to be depicted at all, which i’m almost positive is A.
40:54 personality-wise, though, Nikol looks like Future Redeemed’s Valdi. I want them to meet somehow.

I think there will be some kind of Time Travel because at 34:45 we Can see the main group with shulk and rex but the two of them look the same as in the teaser for example shulk have short hair but in every single other scene of the trailer he has long hair
I'm guessing Shulk just tucked his hair behind him in a way that we can't see it from that far away. That shot does show him with locks coming down the sides of his face, which is consistent with his new look. Sure, Origin does do weird things with time, but i think time travel is too complicated a plot device for even Takahashi to mess around with.
However, the Z Shulk Rex scene might be implying hair can grow even if your aging stops. So now I'm picturing Shulk and Rex desperately looking for a barber in between their Liberator duties and also Consul X or some Droids or Flaks attending to Melly's hair in Origin. I want this comedy gold.
Funny enough, I actually thought Ghondor from the base game was going to be some old man with white hair until getting to the prison.
Edit: Also I'm not sure if anyone pointed it out yet, but just in case, there's a Bunnit in the background of the screenshot with the 2/8 locations thing that's level 5, and it has the "you're near this enemy's level" color for the level indicator text, which means you start around level 5, likely at level 1 because that makes more sense at that low of a number.

If I remember correctly, the term "Ouroboros" was actually used before the time this dlc takes place. In one of the memories of N at the beginning of chapter 6, one guy says something like "We've managed to activate the Ouroboros Stone!" This was before N became Moebius.
One thing I’m curious about is shulk seems to be using the Monado REX in this story which we see is in Melias bedroom in Keves Castle, so at some point at the end of the story maybe before or after shulks death the sword is hidden there for safekeeping for Melia to find once freed from origin as I assume she’s already been captured when this story happens
My guess is: the Monado REX+ was put in Alcamoth before/during the Intersection, and Shulk is able to use a Blade that does the same things as it and looks like it. In other words, a Replica Monado Replica.
My reasoning isn't solely the humor. We know Blades can mimic one's original weapon, as N does with Lucky Seven. It'd be weird for the Monado REX+ to be "digitized" into Shulk's Iris, only for him to undo that and sneak it into Keves Castle, which would be a hostile base at that point. It'd be a risky place to hide it, even if it is for sentimental reasons.
The bigger issue is the fact that Blades are tied to their soldiers. When they're knocked around, their Blades vanish. It happens in in-engine cutscenes (the ones where you press A or - to advance the dialogue).It stands to reason Blades would do the same upon the soldiers' deaths. BUT this is complicated by Nikol's Twitter clip, where a Blade flies out of a defeated Kevesi's hand and lands in front of Nikol. I'm guessing said soldier was still technically in the process of dying, which is why it doesn't vanish instantly. The alternative would make things way too complicated for me.

That's the Future Redeemed analysis I was waiting for.
With hindsight, I always found weird they didn't give Alvis an actual core crystal in Definitive Edition, and now even A has a jewel which is even weirder, because Moebius have what looks like a core crystal in their chest. I initially thought they were messing with us because they didn't want to straight up admit he was Onthos, but now we get to see Na'el with the actual core crystal. I'm starting to think neither Alvis nor A were the real thing, but just an extension of Onthos. Unlike Pyra and Mythra being extensions of Pneuma who had her core crystal and basically were a part of her, Alvis and A might just be some interface Onthos uses as he has never left the Trinity Processor. At the end of XC1, we don't really see him but just a light coming from the Earth. I'm getting the feeling the real Onthos has yet to be shown and might get destroyed only to reincarnate as Na'el later on.
Fingers crossed, a new Logos might show up as well and not be one Pyra or Mythra, since a purple crystal technically is still missing. If it is either Pyra or Mythra, my boy Rex is the strongest character in the series, being the driver of 2 Aegises.
