Robert Mehal he is, I think he is the symbolic leader of the revolution.
BJ was an O3 Captain in the US Army,
while Commander is an O5 rank in the Navy.
I have no idea why they called him Commander. I mean he was in charge of the naval vessel, but even if you're just an O1 Ensign in the Navy if you're in charge of a vessel you're the Captain of that vessel.
