    File transfer off the SD card through the USB C port is something NO ONE ELSE has mentioned in the various videos I've watched. Thanks for that tip!

      You can also do this on a GoPro though, it doesn't have a special USB-C door, but if you plug in a USB-C on a GoPro and plug it into a PC you can copy files from it without taking the MicroSD card out.

    Nice review! I liked the dji because I heard it has better low light but, the fast charging, quick magnetic mount for portrait or landscape and the gain control is a must. My Gopro 10 even with enduro battery in 0⁰c weather still doesn't last long.

    I'm a DJI fan, but when I watch the various motovlog channels, the gopro always has a better sound. It was the same with your video, with the dji, you only heard the talking, the gopro, you heard the talking, and the engine sound.
    Probably the right thing is the new DJI sound adapter, which is intended exactly for moto vloggers, I hope the sound is better with the adapter

Personnely, i prefer use a separate audio recorder, type Zoom h1n or f2 bt, with davinci Resolve editing, it's the best choice. Great thanks for your clear demonstration. OC: the issues with GoPro audio alone have ruined countless videos not only for me but countless other creators.
    Issues with audio after having to pay a premium for a way to plug in an external mic is like a sleep to the face. If i had the money i would either get the Osmo action or the insta360 Ace pro. There are too many good alternatives now for those looking at a brand new camera.

    Great comparison. Not sure if most of the footage is set in some auto mode, but for me the colors on the DJI is so much more natural. It gives the kind of footage that would take kindly to post color/exposure adjustments. Plus the night mode is great. I get excited seeing good night footage, because it's so hard to do well.

  • @AZGeek520
    @AZGeek520 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Nice comparison review. I've been using GoPro for motorcycling videos for about 7 years now and it's been a love/hate experience. GoPro stopped innovating years ago and this has allowed Insta360 and DJI to catch up quickly. I've had battery issues, and most frustratingly - audio issues. I was really hopeful when the MediMod came out that I'd finally be able to get better audio. But the MediaMod is a joke. I quickly found out that you have to take the GoPro out of the MediaMod to access the battery or microSD card. The engineering team that designed that should be fired and never allowed to work on action cams -- ever! I also had issues like you where I didn't have any audio recorded even though the mic cable was firmly seated. I returned those pieces of garbage right away. I've also had issues with several of the GoPro batteries swelling and causing the GoPro to stop recording any footage. I am certain that my next action cam upgrade won't be with GoPro and am leaning towards the DJI Action with it's seamless integration with the DJI mic.

    I can use a USB transfer on all of my Go Pros. I don't use the clunky Quik app. For the first time Go Pro has built in Bluetooth in the Go Pro 12. My helmet (Sena Momentum) has built in Bluetooth. I have used that Bluetooth connection for my voice and it works fairly well. The Go Pro Media Mod makes it a pain in the butt to change batteries. I haven't tested it yet, but the Bluetooth on my Cardo should work too. Basically any Bluetooth mic should work. I do like the magnetic mounts of the DJI. I may need to get one.

    • @onearmedbandit_nz
      @onearmedbandit_nz ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I use the 12 with my cardo and it records the audio very well. I did turn off the noise cancelling effect in the cardo app otherwise you can sometimes miss the first word, and I turned the mic sensitivity up too. The only issue I've really noticed is there is a delay between the two channels of audio the 12 records, just means you need to match the audio in your editing software.

    Hi Chase I was double-minded between buying the GoPro Hero 12 Black or the DJI ACtion4 after checking this I decided to jump to the DJI.
    Now I feel that I have made a bad call. Everything that you mention is true and the camera is GREAT. BUT the internal mics are SHIT the noise reduction function is a joke for us that ride motorcycles and I dont want to spend extra in external mics because I don't want to vlog. I want to capture my rides and trips and have a nise engine sound not a cliping wind noise. :/ I thinking of returning the camera due to that.
    I ride a s1000XR so at chin level I have good wind protection due to the windscreen but even there the wind noise is just unbearable.

Your sound quality can be improved, get yourself a Røde Lavalier Go microphone, add the dead cat and shove it into the chin area (offset to the side of your mouth and not directly in front) of your helmet. You can thank me later because the sound quality will be amazing! You can document your rides as you go along reading road names and direction of travel towards cities/towns plus you’ll get to hear some engine noise 👌

    OC. Hello Chase greetings from Türkiye. Great video again.
    I just started to use action cameras, it's been nearly 1,5 year and I started with gopro hero10, because 1,5 years ago every internet site was saying don't look and compare too much gopro is the best just buy it bla bla.. That's why I bought it. And in this time which I learn by experiencing it and hate is, the heating problem. It's very funny for a action cam especially in summer days. And the second one is gopro need lots of accesssories. Even 1 is not enough everytime. And all of them are ugly... I hate it. I'm learning everything with trying and it's give me more anger since everytime I'm spending more for gopro.
    Today I want a setup like record good quality with engine without wind noise and also my voice (just whenever I want - I'm not vlogging I just want in some of my trips I also want my voice to be recorded, like group rides etc.) Thats why I need two mics. and postproduction is too exhausting just for social media share, I want direct sound recorded to my camera. And now I found osmo action 4 +dji mic 2 option. which releases you lots of accessory and cables thanks to its wireless connection. Still I have to work on it because wireless connection only works for 1 mic so ı need to connect receiver to cam but againg osmo action + dji mic superb conformity and without need of any other accessory a big plus. That's why I will leave gopro and continue with osmo action 4. gopro will be my second cam to record different views. Hope this comment will help other friends also.

    One cannot disable the internal mic on GoPro Hero 13 so when I connect to a bluetooth headset the wind noise messes up the sound. It is my understanding that the DJI can also connect to bluetooth yet DOES have the ability to disable the internal. I am now trying to run an external voice recorder which will work but GoPro should fix this BS in their next FW release. What are you thoughts?

    25-year videography veteran here. When I use my 10-year-old Sony FDR-x3000 action camera, it far surpasses expectations to this day. It is my best camera. Why? Because when they discontinued the Sony action camera I thought there was no way I could go wrong with the industry leader of action cameras, GoPro, when Sony's was and is so amazing and consistent and worthy. WRONG! GoPro Hero 9, the two that I bought for about $1200 with accessories, have only been consistent in one thing each day I use them. Failure! One or both of them have had issues with freezing, dropping audio, batteries at 90% going to zero or not working, external powering issue, overheating...etc, etc., etc. These problems have happened 100% of the time I use them. I am not exaggerating when I say this! I'll never, ever, ever recommend GoPro to anyone who wants to use them outdoors. They don't work in 70 degree temps and they don't work if it is below 30 degrees either, which is very little in North Dakota on a boat or ice fishing. I have been looking into getting the Osmo Action 4 or the Insta360 Ace Pro, but will try to make it one more open-water season of fishing with my terrible, terrible GoPro Hero 9s and my beautiful Sony FDR-x3000 that is 10-years-old.

    OC: I'll never buy another GoPro again. Bought a 11 and after a month of using it the battery life was absolute 💩 The battery expanded so much and the last time I removed it the thing was hot AF. Like you said I thought thing was gonna blow up in my hand. I'll definitely take a look at the Action 4.

    On a motorcycle, I used GoPro in a Media Mode. Pluged my microphon to a 3.5mm connector and had a power bank in my pocket, and connected it to usb. There is no need to change a battary for the whole day. It's not possible with DJI.

    • @gigihanmandarin
      @gigihanmandarin ปีที่แล้ว

      Although Insta360 as a camera company is not new but it is a gen1 product for them in terms of making action cameras. I will stay away from them when the DJI Action 4 has clearly proven itself by rectifying some mistakes DJI has done with their past generations. Action 2 had poor battery life and a weird form factor, Action 3 had focusing issues, and now Action 4 - pretty much no one has any major complaint against it.

    @2:00 was the night footage a mistake? you recommend DJI and the footage clearly shows that GoPro is better :D or am i blind?

    • @erwinespanto
      @erwinespanto ปีที่แล้ว

      the gopro footage is too many noise and not recommended. OA4 footage is usable and can adjust the exposure if its too dark for your taste :)

    • @chaseontwowheels
      @chaseontwowheels  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Im betting you're probably commenting on how the GoPro footage showed a little more light than the DJI but what I want you to keep in mind is the grain in the footage. The GoPro footage wasn't usable where as the DJI footage actually looked good and I could adjust the settings a little if I knew I I needed more exposure. Also, the road I was filming on has next to ZERO light so those shots were basically worst case scenario for the cams!

    The DJI has a richer looking picture, the GoPro looks over exposed. The DJI not only look better on the track but sounded way better, the GoPro video wasn't that stable either.
