Thank you Aly! I have been in a 2 year struggle w insomnia and have been on and off multiple meds and want to be completely off of them. I just discovered this channel about a month ago and read NATTO but as I learn the concepts of befriending sleeplessness etc , I am still greatly struggling with sleep - 2-4 hours a great night with zero sleep common and mixed in. I’m now trying to do this without meds because I figured if I’m taking them I’m teaching my brain I can’t sleep without them and just delaying the inevitable as I don’t want to stay on them forever and some nights they don’t work anyway. That said, I’m averaging at most only a couple hours of sleep a night now and feel this maybe unsustainable at this rate. Anyway, I was just wondering if you have any general advice/feedback on my approach and how best to move forward- thank you !!!

Thank you Miss Aly, I have had chronic insomnia for 4 years. Cant tell you how many nights I went with out sleep. Ive tried so many medications. Was taking Lunesta, for 2 years, now recently switched to Dayvigo. I have so much anxiety around sleep. Side note my insomnia started when I stopped klonopin several years ago. I dont want to take medication, but really cant sleep without it.
Really dont no if my sleep will return again. Your content is so informative and reassuring!!!
    God Bless

Great video! We are such slaves to our narratives that we aren't even aware of it. All of the points made here are not just helpful in the sleep realm, but in all areas of life. Thank you, Aly!

Hi Aly, I swear you guys are psychic. I'm on the Bedtyme app with Coach Chris now, and my relationship with sleep medication is front and center lately. This video along with Chris's wise words and this YT channel in general have literally been a life saver for me.

Hi Aly, Well, I’m not really sure how you ended your struggle with meds except you no longer feared taking a med, and because of that the struggle ended. I get that. So, you just realized one day you no longer needed a med? It just evolved that way? I took Klonopin for over 30 years and weaned myself off almost a year ago. I have started taking it again since being involved with the SCS in the name of being kind to myself when I have gone several nights with zero sleep and just feeling depleted energy wise. So I take .5mg every 4-6 days depending on how I feel. The only fear I feel about taking a med is thinking it will show the brain I cannot sleep without it, and every time I take a med it just reinforces the brain with the experience of a good night of sleep. So, the fear is recovery may not be possible, or that recovery will take so much longer. I understand this may not be true, but I would like to understand why if it isn’t. Thanks.

    Hello dears!
I'd like to know your opinion about taking medications such as SSRI (lexapro). My doctor prescribed me it to cope with anxiety induced insomnia. She said that I can't fully relax and fall asleep because of the low level of serotonin neurotransmitters, which is pretty common while having any sort of anxiety, and once they become normal you can easily fall asleep with zero worries.
    Any thoughts regarding it?
