If you don't know, sonoff mini is a small device you can install behind a light switch and have it controller over Wifi/MQTT using a web interface or your home automation system. I didn't need to open or solder anything to the mini.

I don't know if you still need it, but I also had your frustration with Windows. There is a HACS integration now where you don't even need flashing tasmota and it lets you set local only in it's settings. Sonoff LAN.

Thanks a ton for this! I was trying to go the way that Andreas Spiess showed a while back and didn't succeed. Made a custom pin header and everything to connect to the physical pins on the bottom. Your way was so much easier!

So, I don't use these, but I am flashing a bunch for a friend and he wasn't able to connect them to his Home Assistant. I had done some Basics for him in the past and they worked well. The Mini R2 though is only able to flash to the Sonoff Basic firmware. How do I flash it up to something that will be discovered by Home Assistant. It appears that the Sonoff Basic Tasmota firmware doesn't work with the Home Assitant integration. Thanks.

I have 3 sonoff mini v2. 2 are on my network running with ewelink and the 3rd sitting on my desk. When I put the 3rd one in diy mode and got it on my network, the script found the other 2.. Not in diy mode and not the 3rd one. So I unplugged the 3rd one and plugged it back in then it found all 3? I thought it had to be in diy mode?

    Thank you for the video.
Do you know how the switch type can be set when tasmota is installed?
Sonoff mini r2 by default can be controlled by either momentary switch, regular switch and some other switch type - the setting can be changed on ewelink app. if i change to tasmota, is there a way i can still change this? I'm asking this since I'm using both momentary and regular switches to control my mini r2's & wondering if I'd loose the functionality if i switch to tasmota.

The R2 is providing power monitoring additional to the switches, when you use the eWeLink software …. is this functional under Tasmota also ?

I got all the way to "Please wait for your device to finish flashing." I waited over 15-20 minutes. I saw the light slowly blinking on off on off but did not find the access point. I waited another 10 minutes, then un/re-plugged it. Still no AP. I re-plugged power again and no AP. I then tried holding the button for 5 seconds and no change. Then 5 seconds again, an now red and blue lights are on. If I short-press the sonoff button, the relay clicks and the red light goes off. The blue light continues the same on off flash. Please advise.

@@hillmakeitbetter I found a solution that was working for me. Turn the sonoff on and off multiple times for a very short time. If you see a chance in the leds color, stop turning off. Than you can see the ssid tasmota-.... on your smartphone and you can connect to the device to finish the wifi configuration.
