Which part of the video? The second match maybe. Ramsey talks about how him ,a judo and Sanda fighter were beaten by him. And the man told him " you could even try that UFC stuff on me.
my mother is75 and is working taichi, there a tons of teachers of kind a soft Taichi, but my teacher of Sanda teaches too Tai chi and his alumns, the most of them practices Sanda too. These guys work hard, I can assure you. Although I don't know of any other school that does the same. There are few people who try a tai chi system that is honed interdisciplinary is not common.
As soon as the third guy dropped levels you could see he was taking Tai Chi guy down. Never let your opponent get below eye level, gotta keep those eyes level with your opponents eyes. (Yay, I'm learning.. 😂)
I would like to see some good jjj in action, Tai chi is interesting, seems like it could be very efficient if used right so yes much more of this , thank you
Good Tai Chi is indeed Shuaijiao lol. Tuishou Chen vs Marcelo Garcia will always be one of my fav vids on TH-cam. But it illustrates where the winningest Tai Chi champion would benefit from Shuaijiao because he is weak against leg reaps / hooks.
Tai chi looks like it has good hand fighting. But it seems like its repertoire is lacking to actually face off against a full grappling system. IE wrestling, judo, sambo, shuai jiao, etc
Yeah the first two clips look like proper Tai Chi guys to me, probably Chen? Incidentally, there were a couple of "friendly" Chen vs. Muay Thai meetups 5 or 6 years ago, IIRC, as a result of one of the teachers in Chen village wanting to train up some young guys from the village to compete in the ring. I don't know what came of it other than those two meetups. Only one of them is on YT that I can find - here th-cam.com/video/0U8fGNhfZ7I/w-d-xo.html
@@alejandrovivas7015 yeah theoretically yes but the boxing stance traditionally is wide and leaving the lead leg exposed to take downs, and also in a cage/ring context there is only so much space to run and you lose ring control. Pure boxing will have small chance of success but if the boxer train some take down defence then maybe, but then it could violate the pure style vs style premise in your scenario.
Hope this video does as good as the one before. Then people can see that just like when not every boxer is Art Jimmerson ( the guy Royce Gracie tackled to the floor in ufc 1), not every tai chi practitioner is Lei Lei, there are better. I think the second tai chi man in gray is shown in ankther video tossing students around in sanda training.
they aren't grabbing the legs because if they put their neck too low, getting pushed down by your neck from someone who has good base isnt a pleasant experience and can make you lose your balance. It looks more like no gi(?) shuai jiao than moving push hands, we do both at my school.
Tai chi is basically a finely tuned form of wrestling with a certain emphasis. But it takes the regular Joe a very very long time to understand it in pratice. You'll find better examples in Chen style vids. Guys like Chen Ziqiang etc..th-cam.com/video/dTP16HPFMms/w-d-xo.html
Btw. You'll see quite a bit of similarities between tai chi and advanced shuai jiao. The kind of shuai jiao the old guys do, when pure muscle power is going down and emphasis is more on rooting, positioning and chin na.
Sifu Niko missed my text yesterday, but we will talk next Tuesday on Fight Commentary Chats, so definitely stay tuned for that ;)
T'ai Chi guys are good at wrestling. I can attest to that!!! Niko is a great representative!
You should check out Chen Qi Ziang tuishou with some big wrestler guy
Shuai Jiao seems to have some good foundations and even competitive against Western Wrestling! Great Video would like to see more follow up videos!
This really reminds me of that 80 year old Tai Chi master that Ramsey Dewey fought before
Name of video?
How many times are you gonna post this comment?
Which part of the video? The second match maybe. Ramsey talks about how him ,a judo and Sanda fighter were beaten by him. And the man told him " you could even try that UFC stuff on me.
Was that the video where Ramsey Dewey tells a story?
Great way for taiji guys to test root ,song and peng. Great to see.
Interesting matchup! First time seeing wrestling vs tai chi

In the 2nd video, they were wrestling on a tile floor. Imagine losing your balance and landing on your knee.
Knee is one of the strongest bones in the body. If falling on a hard surface breaks it then Muay Thai could not exist.

Please more Shuai Jiao videos!!! Please!!!

Fun stuff

That first Tai Chi guy had good balance and a decent sprawl. The pummeling in the second vid didnt look to bad either.
Tai chi looks like it has good hand fighting. But it seems like its repertoire is lacking to actually face off against a full grappling system. IE wrestling, judo, sambo, shuai jiao, etc
Tai chi is shadow wrestling. Pushing hands at one point was drilling pummeling for under hooks.

Sorry if this question has nothing to do with the video, but one question: is wrestling superior to boxing, as Reddit users claim?
Depends on what’s the context but in general once taken to the ground most of boxing advantages are nullified
@@feverbeaver8964 And if the boxer does not allow himself to be caught and keeps his distance, would he win?
in the context of pure styles

Don’t waste your time on either style here
We' be got 3 styles shown here. Freestyle wrestling, tai chi, Shuai Jiaou. All are a waste of time?
