How to Thrive in Life and Business as an INTROVERT

  • In this video, I share my experience of being an introvert growing up, the struggles I faced, and how you can still thrive in life and business as an introvert.
I was always a shy kid growing up and thought that I was different and somewhat weird. I thought to succeed in life, I had to be charismatic, loud and sociable.
But what I hadn't realized is that introverts do have their advantages, too. We typically are great listeners, analyzers, and observers which makes for a great leader.
On the contrary, we tend to distance ourselves from social environments, networking, and getting out of our comfort zone.
As I grew up, I read books on self-growth which was key to learning how to get out of my comfort zone and building self-confidence.
As an introvert, you can succeed in life and business without compromising your core personality.
You don't need to change who you are but you should have a growth mindset so you can develop leadership, marketing, and community-building skills to create a successful business.

Yes, Aurelius! I'm in the same club. Many people in my community think I'm extroverted because I easily enthuse others about the ideas that I'm passionate about. It's the only place where I exhibit those 'outer tendencies.' Otherwise, my own company, books, endless musing and writing, and a small deeply connected circle are my wheelhouse. It's great to hear about business from this inny perspective. Loving your videos.

Adela Rubio it goes to show that people have a misconception that introverts are shy but it’s not the case. We can be social but mostly gain energy in solitude. Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us.

Hi Aurelius. It's Peter Beckenham from Thailand again. I just loved your honesty and transparency deciding on the path in life that you wanted to take. I'm more of an extrovert and I had to work really hard to become a good listener and a leader. Thanks for your authentic message as it will help many people come to terms with who they really are.

This is one of the channels that gave me the courage to start my TH-cam channel 6 months ago about self development. Now I have 441 subs and > 100 hours of watch time. I know it’s not comparable with others but I’m still proud I started because I’ve been learning so many lessons that I could haven’t learned without getting started in the 1st place.

Were you scared in the beginning of your TH-cam journey? A lot of people want to start TH-cam but the main issue with us introverts is that it feels uncomfortable to put ourselves out there in public, to put ourselves in the spotlight. It takes great courage to not worry about failing publicly or taking hate and trolls seriously. So congratulations on overcoming your inertia of starting, but I'm curious to know how you felt in the beginning of starting your channel vs how it feels now, in terms of - Handling public attention, Anxiety or fear of disapproval from friends and family, Fear of failing publicly, Being comfortable to interact with a lot of people etc. Sorry for the long ass comment, I'm pretty introverted and I'm trying to get comfortable with interacting with people.

@rhoshinybh5296 I had so many fears even before I started and I still have fears. I am still an introvert but I what I really focus on is the value of the content and what I’m truly passionate about while helping others! I'm glad that I'm foolish enough to believe that I can actually start making money through my passions. I've never thought that I'd able to gain 1K subs faster. I can't imagine how many opportunities could have been wasted if I didn't have courage to go after them. That includes having this channel, being in a management role, having the people who actually care about me for who I am, freelance gigs, being an ambassador in a creative community and now I'm also planning on honing my public speaking skills through joining a toastmaster club and these all happened this year. It started with writing them all down on a piece of paper. A paper that serves as a reminder for me to go after what I want even through hard times. I'm not bragging about my accomplishments but simply hoping that this message can also inspire others to believe in themselves.
Also, I think what makes me strong is forcing myself to make tons of mistakes, learning from them, and strategizing how I will approach similar situations in the future so I don't make the same mistakes again. Knowing that making mistakes is just part of life gives me the courage to get out of my comfort zone many times because I will never learn something new if I'm so afraid of fucking up. The bottom line is I know that fear is part of life but it's all about having the courage to overcome fears as a process of growth

Hi there, love the fact that you’re willing to be vulnerable and talk about this topic as it can be such an enormous weight on people’s shoulders - feel like this is definitely a topic that should be discussed more! It’s important to feel safe and to know you’re not alone in this but like you said it’s a good thing as well to be able to “get out there” and take on some characeristics of extraverted people and grow as a person from it. I have to say, it’s a tough journey and especially in the beginning I would feel “fake” when I would be back home because I felt like I wasn’t the real me when I was out with people and my real self was so different from what I was “trying” to be but I feel like this is something that will gradually fade, it’s normal to have different aspects of your personality and maybe not everything will feel as natural, it will help you pursue your dreams and a lot of other things and at some point it can even feel satisfying if you stop overthinking about how you “really are”. At least that’s what it’s like for me. It’s still difficult and I guess it will always be but especially now working from home doesn’t make it easier for me because I don’t have some general environment/energy to lift off of. Any tips :)? X

wow, I have been struggling with this all my life (and still), I only knew about this type personality recently, as all my life people told me that I am too shy and I am not so social and close people are not able to understand me. Things become even worse when you become older and you need to maintain some social contact and build networking. I feel like a fish out of water when I am outside my home, feel very happy and safe when home. thanks for the great video.

Great video. This is such a fantastic niche topic that no-one talks about. I'm actually in that sweet spot of being an ambivert...the best of both worlds.

I am growing my software development business but I am struggling to create content that my marketing manager can use to get leads and grow. Sadly, I think I have to hire a "in front of camera" person because it's not a fit for me to be that person... unfortunately that is a big hindrance, someone who is a founder who can do that themselves can build and grow a business much faster!

I'm just confused on what I am 🤣. To many sale classes and negotiating training. I copy and mirror the ones I'm around. But I like to be to myself or with my wife.
