    Yeah! You cleared up my mysterious "semi-deciduous" dendrobium which only blooms on bare canes in the winter, while the other canes have all their leaves. This winter two denuded canes bloomed. Typically there are two new shoots with dark green leaves, some done growing and a couple bare canes. So from your video, should I cut back watering only when there are no new shoots and only non-growing leaf-bearing canes or bare canes? Thanks!

    Hi Danni. I have purchased a dendrobium Comet King as a very young one stem orchid. This was December last year. Very healthy with plenty of leaves. I am in Sydney Australia 🇦🇺 and the season is the end of Autumn followed by winter. I am stressing out as this orchid is shedding the leaves and now has one yellow leaf and only two healthy leaves. Is this common? I would greatly appreciate your comment. Many thanks. ❤❤

    Hey, i really hope you still come across this comment cause i really need some help.. my dendrobium phalaenopsis orchid keeps losing it’s leafs. I don’t water it that often. Mostly along my normal phalaenopsis orchids. It’s canes are quite dry most of the time, yet it is sprouting flower spikes. I really don’t get it. What should i do

    Thanks for the tips! My no ID one is till a mistery tho, it looks like a dendobrium but with plumpier canes, and for me behaved at the oposite of what you described! During winter after the leaves dropped it growed a tons of roots eating all water and fert i used, and now that summer is here, i have tiny little canes forming with leaves, but it seems i got most roots rotting with algae, probably because I didn't adjusted the watering...

    I have a question. So I got a Caesar warawan hybrid dendrobium orchid it is ten years old! But my question is that when I got the orchid she was already in bloom and finished blooming and then she started losing leaves so is there anything wrong with my orchid? The canes are still stiff

    Danny, do you currently have new growths sprouted up already? With mine, the leaves dropped and ALSO I can see all of the new growths that are already popping up in the middle of winter that will bloom in the spring.

    I got a Dendrobium last year. New growth and losing leaves, yellowing, on tallest cane. Glad it’s not me killing it! 😉 It is planted in soil, so I need to repot in orchid medium? Lots of beige roots. Help.

    Hi Danny, I had three beautiful blooming orchids. I changed the pots to bigger ones because all i could see was roots. I know now i should not have done that while in bloom. The leaves we’re getting flopping I presumed it was because they couldn’t get water to the roots. Would deep whole pot in water. Long story short, i told this to my father in law, went on holidays and now every leaf has fallen off them all and the stems are dying. He over watered them 😡 Can i save them?

    Hi Dani, How can I tell whether my dendrobium is just bare because it is in that stage versus dead? I only have one of this type, and I thought it looked ready to put out buds approx. 6 months ago but now it is totally bare. I'm not sure if it's dead or if I should continue to water and keep my fingers crossed. Thanks.

    Danny... I have mine lost its leaves but instead of blooms its giving off keikies.
    The temperature here where i live in is 32 celcium at day and 26 at night?
    I heard it needs a cold tempt...
    Does this mean that'll be giving off keikies rather blooms?

      Hi, yes that is what happens in most cases if temps are too high, but Nobiles are more prone to this than the other species.

    Hey Danny, I have this really huge oncidium Heaven Scent ‘Sweet Baby’ and I need your expertise on dividing it. Are the pseudobulbs on oncidiums connected and if so, is it possible to separate them without causing much damage to the plant? When is the best time to divide oncidiums? Should I divide it up into clusters or into individual pseudobulbs? I hope you can get back to my comment because my plant is extremely rootbound.

    • @nanetteorchid6680
      @nanetteorchid6680 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not Danny, of course, but I have heard that when dividing we should ideally keep 3 bulb divisions in order to keep the plant healthy and nourished. Less bulbs means less energy to create new bulbs and flowers. Sometimes you can carefully crack off a division and slowly pull apart the root system. Otherwise you need to slice with a very sharp sterilized tool ( I like exacto knives) trying not to cut the bulbs...hope this helps.

    Hi Danny, how much temperature needed for dendrobium nobli and dendrobium species in winter so they can enter into dormecy.

    • @MissOrchidGirl
      @MissOrchidGirl  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, around 15C should be just fine. Nobile can tolerate even lower temps, no freezing conditions though!

    • @vindyasemith
      @vindyasemith 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      in my place it never gets Below 22°c in winter at night morning it's always above 30°c, is that fine for them.
