    A jig prolly has to be my all time favorite lure even over a Texas Rig.

      What type of jig would you recommend for small lake/pond in NY? A 3/8oz swim jig with a craw trailer on braid?

    You had me at jigs! I just got back from a private trophy bass lake where we absolutely clobbered them with jigs! I caught my biggest so far this year at just over 8 lbs! Boy, was that a fun fish! You'd be surprised at how well dragging a regular flipping jig will do on a grassy bottom.

      @@BassFishingDeclassified The lake is here in Mississippi, near the Alabama border. It's way out in the boonies. No phone service, just a rustic old cabin and a lake. I love that place!

    The DB baby structure in 3/8 is my absolute favorite casting jig. You can put it where you want it and it glides right under a dock with a bandito bug Jr on it. Great video!

    I have been using a horse hair jig for over 40 years. A tournament guy asked me what I was using once and he bought ALL The Tackle Box had in stock. So I started making my own to use, nothing fancy, just add a trailing hook on finicky fish that short strike it.

    That's crazy! The part you did on Table Rock Lake is bear den cove point and I fish there often! I live right on the lake less than a minute boat ride away. I saw where my house is on the map before you zoomed in. I'm right across from point 15 where flat Creek and James River split. I know I'm excited too much but it's cool to see you pointing out something so close to where I live, a place that I fish often in the summer and have done incredible with a football jig, swim bait and swing head. I was just there yesterday lol

      @@BassFishingDeclassified I just did a practice with Randy for one of his tournaments this spring cause the fishing up here was so good and I wanted to show him. Unfortunately we had a major cold front and rain that messed it up before his tournament. I was disappointed, but it was awesome to fish with Randy and that's just how fishing goes sometimes.

    • @natea4828

      @@BassFishingDeclassified this section of the lake is my favorite and not just because I live here but because I catch the biggest bass on the lake up here. I catch a lot of smallmouth in early spring but they seem to move into the main lake area during the summer. So after spring rolls through, you pretty much only catch Kentucky's and largemouth up here

    Awesome video as always. I have struggle a bit with the hookset on jigs, any tips?

    • @BassFishingDeclassified
      @BassFishingDeclassified  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! Try not to set the hook too soon. If you are dragging your jig along the bottom, when you feel the bite give it a second or two. Reel the slack up but do not reel it too fast or you will pull it out of the fishes mouth. Also it is good to keep your pointer finger on the line where it comes out of the bait caster. This will help bite detection. It is a big help when you are fishing in brush or grass. Hope this helps! - Jimi

    I’m no hair jig fisherman.
    Though I’d like to be. I have several 5/8 oz Cumberland pro hair jigs.
    Are these only for suspended fish?
    Do you have a hair jig video? Can you drop a link?
    Hair jigs is the technique I wanna learn this year.

    That’s awesome I just wish I could find a brown jig does one make a brown jig anymore or do have to make my own bald head jig where I fish at to much cover for a football jig there’s no where to go on line and find a 3/8 jig in brown try it just look around for a brown jig and see how long it takes lol great video anyway awesome keep them coming 😉😉

    So do I cast to the high spots you pointed out or cast from it into the drops ?

    • @BassFishingDeclassified
      @BassFishingDeclassified  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This can depend on how the fish are set up, and weather. Typically I would place the boat in deeper water and throw up on the high spots 👍🏽
